EA Megathread

You can subscribe to EA's Pass+ membership month-by-month, for $7 per month, to get EA's PASS+ discount of 25%. In the past, I've often "subscribed" for one month just prior to a road trip to get the charging discount for that trip. The $7 fee can easily pay for itself on the first charge.

I can't speak to Lucid's plans for discounted EA charging through plug-n-charge. Volvo similarly claims a discounted plug-n-charge rate through Volvo's app, but with no mention of a specific figure.
I am familiar with the EA Pass discount monthly subscription plan. I was asking whether Lucid had anything similar on their side of things

EA limits charging at 85% at some locations if they are heavily used. Send EA comment requesting limitation
I wish instead of limiting the charge at 85% they just double the rate fee once you are above 85%. That feels like it would get people to change their behavior faster.

I agree, this would allow those who REALLY need to fully charge for a long trip to still charge above 85% but they’ll have to pay a premium for it. There is a congestion fee that I found in the Lucid app (attached), but I’ve never encountered at any EA station yet.
I think the issue is with vehicles with free charging, such a fee wouldn’t apply to their free charging plans unless they can modify the T&C’s with the vehicles manufacturers, which is a headache to try to deal with, so limiting it to 85% is the better option for now.
Charging at EA stations will improve once free charging starts to fade away over time, and people realize how expensive it is to charge at EA stations vs at home.

I think the congestion fee is new and probably for Tesla. They sometimes set charging limits to 80% and charge congestion fees on long weekend at specific sites that get busy.

Would the congestion fee apply if half the charging spots were out of service? (I"m looking at you, Electrify America.)

Let's try and consolidate the EA information here with some tips and complaints instead of making new threads everytime.

If you are getting errors with a connection failure, try this first! Thanks to @yosh1993 for finding this out.

RESOLVED - Got a call from Costa Mesa Service Center and Will had me try something. He had me open the frunk and pull up, then down, then up, then down the "emergency release wire" right above the Charging Port. He said it's very sensitive and if it's not in the exact place it's supposed to be it'll likely throw an error. I did what he asked, closed the frunk, started to charge and BAM! It worked.

If you get a payment screen on the EA station after plugging in, you can have 2 options to try and initiate a charge.

1) After plugging in and payment screen pops up, open the Lucid App. Go to the charging tab and you will see a white EA button. Click the button and choose your station and initiate charging
2) After plugging in and payment screen pops up, go to the pilot panel and click on the charging tab. You will see a white EA button. Click the button and choose your station and initiate charging

Alternate problem and solution

Job: 1 Charging Products Pay Type: Warranty Concern: Per WO-010753 line 1. Vehicle not charging at Electrify America or any third party chargers. Vehicle also not charging on level 2 charger. Please check and advise Cause: Corrosion in electrical plug. Corrections: Found water ingress in electrical plug at charge cable behind fender causing intermittent communication issues while charging on level 2 and DC fast chargers. Removed and replaced entire charge cable assembly and performed wiring repair to body-side of harness to ensure no further problems persist. Tested all charging functions after repairs and found all systems to function normally. No further repairs are required at this time.

Alternate solution from @abbas2099

They had me open up the app. Goto the navigation screen. Pick the lightning bolt. Then click on the EA icon on the map which showed all the chargers were unavailable. With that screen open, I plugged in. Then and only then , the charging tab showed the electrify America tab which I chose and started charging .
EA 350 charged me really really fast

Folks, hope you can help. My free EA service is still active at least for next 2 months. Until Jan 2025, charging experience at EA chargers was plug and charge. That is when I connected the charger, after the handshake with the car, charging started automatically without me needing to go to Lucid App. For last 2 months ( I think from Feb), the plug and charge portion isnt working. After I connect the charging cable at any EA station, I have to go to the Lucid App, select the specific EA charger number and then only the charging will start. Now I also see a flat charge of 75 dollars (irrespective of how long I charge) on my credit card linked in the Lucid wallet. But that charge is later removed or refunded. One variable here is that Lucid changed my high voltage battering towards the end of Jan.
Does anyone else see this issue? Is there a way to get plug and charge without having to go through the Lucid App?

If the plug and charge handshake doesn't work for some reason you can use the app. I have had this happen before. If it always does this, I would reach out to Lucid CS and see what they say. In the Lucid App does it say Plug@Charge service: Active?

I just called Lucid customer service (something I should have done first anyways :-) ). Turns out I had to go to the upgrades section in under vehicle info in Lucid App and subscribe to their free base plan. That and credit card in Lucid wallet are both needed for plug and charge.
