    Electric water heater credit

If you plan on installing a new water heater soon, then yes, it’s a great idea. Natural gas was once considered to be a “clean” energy source, at least with respect to coal. But we’ve learned now that methane is a greenhouse gas, and it’s production is disastrous for the environment. Some...

    New Variant coming....

Quad Motor. That’s right, four motors; one for each wheel. Why? Because they can, and they have to. Lucid power plant is small enough to fit four. And they’ll need a four motor setup for the gravity SUV to be competitive. Calling it now. Four motor: two thousand horsepower. Place your...

[URGENT] $7500 credit for current reservation holders

It’s important to consider the implications of the income limitations in the new law. Likely that most people won’t qualify for the credit, even if they do place an order now.

    Leaving the Lucid Community

Can you buy a different color, get the tax credit, and then trade it in for a new one next year? I understand that the wait is excruciating, but if you were buying a Tesla the wait would also be a year. If you were buying a MB or BMW it would also be six months wait plus a dealer fee. My...

$150k. New Income Limits to Qualify for EV Tax Credit.

Page 395 of the new law sets income limits on who can qualify for the EV tax credit. (b) LIMITATION BASED ON MODIFIED ADJUSTED GROSS INCOME.— ‘‘(1) IN GENERAL.—No credit shall be allowed under subsection (a) for any taxable year if— ‘‘(A) the lesser of— ‘‘(i) the modified adjusted gross income...

Toyota’s bZ4X recall isn’t going great – company offers car buyback

“There are also reports online of some owners trying to negotiate with Toyota for additional consideration, like attempting to recoup some of the dealer markup they had to pay when purchasing the car.” Ha! This is exactly why I choose Lucid. Dealers and markups can GTFO. Personalfinance 101 ...

BMW Heated Seats Subscription Costs $18 Per Month

This is all about the stock price. A lot of manufacturers are adding subscription services as a way of making up for lost revenue due to modern cars needing less maintenance. They’re promoting these subscriptions to their boards and investors as a future profit center. It’s one of the main...

What make of car were you loyal to before Lucid? … Will you miss it?

My dad had an ‘03 X5, ‘08 X3, and a ‘12 X3 when we first test drove the Model S. He traded that last BMW for a Model 3P, and at 75 years old had the coolest car on the block. Now at 80 he’s going to do it again with an Air. Does he miss the Beemers? “A little bit but not really.” And certainly...

    Jersey Purchases

We got $5k back from the state for our Tesla, which at the time had an MSRP of $54,900. Had to fill out some paperwork and wait six months to get the check. Only requirement was that the vehicle be under $55k and full EV, and you need to keep it for at least three years. That program has...

What did you sacrifice for a Lucid Air?

They both have incredible power, and deliver a lot of energy; but like Gina Carano vs Gal Gadot, one is sleeker.

What did you sacrifice for a Lucid Air?

Sacrificing the convenience of the Tesla charging cable. We have several Teslas in the family, and the $500 wall charger. I’ll be the odd man out with my comically oversized charging cable and adapters.

Update: 0 miles = bricked battery. They are replacing the battery pack, we still don't know what caused it though.

There are indications it doesn’t trickle charge. It treats each charging event like a “fill up.” Once it’s full, it stops charging, and then doesn’t charge again until the next charging event. Parasitic loads are quite high, so they could could drain a full battery in a matter of weeks if...

Dallas to Greenville SC via Daytona

Superchargers usually kick you off when you reach 80%, then start charging you idle fees and spamming your app with warnings to move the car. Is “Charge Point” (or whatever network you were using) not like that? Incredible that at a busy location they would allow one person to hog the...

Maybe the 21 inch were a bad idea

NJ FTW. Twice got flats in my Model Y with the sport tires. This winter has been pothole city. Both my WRX and F-Sport had low-profile tires, and Jersey roads never touched them. Maybe the added weight of the EV is too much for traditional “sport” rubber.

Lucid Air GT vs Mercedes EQS 580

I drove the EQS at an industry event. Main takeaways: Back seat is too small. Of all the media outlets covering the EQS launch, only NYT Autos mentioned this problem. If you’re over 6ft your head will hit the ceiling in the back seat. Car is a non-starter as an airport limo for folks my...
