Ordering and Delivery: Lucid Air Touring

From my experience so far, and talking to the DA/SA the VIN is assigned before general assembly. It looks like they are taking 7-10 days from assignment to a fully produced vehicle and then another 7-10 days for delivery. Mine has been in production since 12/8. Will be cutting it close to get EOY delivery, but DA seemed confident.

Are you getting delivery in San Diego? My DA wants me to Uber to Costa Mesa……
I just did the Uber to Costa Mesa for pickup. I felt I could address the issues better in their house. Plus it gave me a chance to drive it home and test out features. Minimal issues at pick up day for some residue on the top window, little bit of glue residue, and scratches on the headlight lens.
Also gave me the chance to ask them for the lug nut caps and center cap for 20” wheels since I wanted to remove the plastic aero covers.

Knowing what I know now, I’d take delivery at home since I didn’t find many issues worth the trip.

Hmmm…. some people got the vehicle in 5-10 days after VIN was assigned. The status and updates vary from DA to DA. Also the dashboard shows “In production” for lot of folks not sure if that is even real status and how long dashboard will stay in production until VIN assignment

I think it really is a moving target at this point.

I also have Jess - and she hasn't been super responsive to emails. Has that been your experience?

And FYI, the Seattle studio (U Village) has a Cosmos/Santa Cruz Touring in case you want to see one in person before your delivery.
I have Jess as my DA. And yes, I am in the Seattle area.
I also have her as my DA and not responsive at all. Have not responded to any communication in over 2 weeks. I thought she was based out of CA.

I’m not holding my breath for the VIN assignment. Wish I understood the whole manufacturing process better. Maybe VIN is not assigned until the production nears completion.

My VIN was assigned 10 days ago and my car is still listed as in production with no further word from my DA.

Picked up my Quantum Grey this afternoon in Costa Mesa.
So far it is all I hoped it would be.
Tell us more about the drive, horsepower, smooth, swift, sprint, seat comfort?

Another post said that a Lucid exec reported 1-2 days for general assembly and another day for software load. Unclear how long from VIV assignment to start of general assembly.

Not happy…on 12/9, my D.A. told me “Your car should be shipped to Rocklin early next week”. She just now told me that it is still “in the final stages of production and should be shipped either next week or the last week of the year.” :(
Sounds exactly like what I was told today after talking to the delivery center and found that my DA has been unresponsive because he is on vacation with his family. I have no problem with that but no stand-in named during his absence as my promised EOY delivery is in jeopardy - not very professional or “premium service”.

Yes general assembly is under two days but I do not know when the VIN is assigned.
I first got my VIN when the dashboard went live - 5 days ago - my car has been “in production” for that same amount of time…and counting.

Actually she is not my DA anymore. I just noticed my portal has a new name as my DA. Hopefully this new DA is more responsive

I think Lucid may have learned this the hard way this year. I'd love it if they continued with this cautious approach moving forward.
Just curious...why would you "love it"? You'll get your car when you do...then what's to love?

As a company, I want them to underpromise and overdeliver. That means being conservative about sales and production estimates. Setting reasonable expectations for customer deliveries. And so on. They came out of the gate with unrealistic guidance this year, then had to backtrack. What I’m saying is I’d love it if they don’t repeat that mistake this year.

Leave the unrealistic hype to the “other” EV company.

Hi Admin,
I cancelled my order today. I emailed DA Omar Allen about it on Sunday. He called today, said he called me few days ago, left message and I did not respond!! Wow!!
love the car, not the company. Will wait till mid to end of next year and see how they are doing overall and then make a decision. Thanks all for advice.
Contrary to what we are reading that company is lowering price just to make numbers, he didn’t seem to care, never offered another car, convert to Pure at old pricing, nothing. Blamed me for not responding to his message!
Why cancel out of spite? You want the car, buy it. My DA did not respond immediately, but I understand the pressure they are under. If you don't like Lucid customer service, Tesla will make you comit suicide!

Sure. That isn’t what the articles are writing about. It’s not about financing incentives for cars in inventory, but inaccurately stating that DAs are offering existing reservation holders a discount, presumably not to cancel. That has never been true.
Wall Streest spreading lies because they shorted the stock
