Something is just not right

I know. I am not saying GM or anyone is perfect. I am just saying the Lyriq seems to fit for me and that is the route I am planning on going. My previous car was a GM, so I like the value, but I know nothing is perfect, but I have to weight my "Buying Criteria" and rank the cars.

I might end up with the Lyriq, drive it, flip it for the Pure if it ever hits the market because I want a fairly bare-bones version. Drive that, flip it, and then get another EV. I have no idea as I have to wait for whatever I pick. It's going to be a great decade! So many new EVs and advancements in tech.
Out of curiosity, is this you? https://twitter.com/Adegokehammed17

Has anyone sat in an EQS as well for comparison? I have not had the chance to test drive the Lucid. The backseat of the EQS felt like I was perched up on high with the front seat closer than I expected from reviews.

Growing up riding to school in the back of an Elantra, I must say the comparison and any slight discomfort of the raised leg position for my kids is a non-issue. However, adults and guests riding in the back is a different story. Is it uncomfortable? Reviews are all over the place on it.
Every person whoever rode in my backseat dropped his/her jaw of the GT’s space. My cousin has 2022 Mercedes Benz S-Class 500, even he dropped his jaw as well didn’t think Air has that kind of space from look of exterior.

Just put things in perspective, I recently acquired Polestar2. It’s software is quiet stable, I like it a lot!!! But not as stylish cabin and software UI as Air on top of not as comfortable as high price Air GT. Unlike Lucid, it is a 30 months old model compare to Air 11 months old model. And here is some of the recent vents I read in their forum just yesterday…
This is a car going to be delivered 50,000 units by end of this year which is greater delivery than Rivian and Lucid combined.

Essentially you are saying you won't own an EV then because all of them have software deficiencies.
That is very true. Even Tesla after a decade still have glitches… what’s more with Rivian, Polestar or Lucid? People love this car for drivetrain while watching its infortainment and ADAS system matures in OTA, sort of like Tesla in the past. While similar case with legacy brands, you are stuck with their laggy infortainment almost for life. Every update is like ICE require taking to dealership for long wait and sometimes expect not seeing your car for days after waiting. Aside from prestige of Mercedes Benz, these pure EV companies have yet less critical recalls than legacy companies EVs. I haven heard major headline of take cars back from Hyundai, Toyota, BMW, Porsche, Cadillac and VW. Yet Lucid’s recall is merely a loose cable needs tie down so far.

Nothing is perfect. I prefer a sedan, but I also want that smooth ride Cadillac is known for. I am not paying $200k-$300k (reported) for the Celestiq. I only ever wanted a Pure and MAYBE AWD. Why is there no data? It is Q4 22 and no word on specs, range, standard equipment, etc. I would love to have the Pure in my garage, my IG name is PureOceanAir

It's Q4, does anyone have any updates???

I think they are just a conservative bunch. No update is better than wrong update later have to revise claims. I’ve seen this always has been their pre-delivery approach. At order stage, people are not happy for lack of communication, post-delivery, Lucid turned 180 degrees awesomeness!

Does it bother you that I didn't pick Lucid? Really, this is your response. Do you really want to go there? How's your Carplay and XM radio? This is nonsense, you do whatever you want with your money and I am going to do whatever I want.
My husband has a reservation for the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq, He is very excited for it and seems like it will be delivered at a good time for us. He has owned quite few Cadillac's through the years.

I understand what you are saying and yes to engineers it is a big deal, but it is not a big deal in the big picture of buying a car. We all have our criteria and if power was the biggest factor then Dodge Hellcats would rule the market. If a Tesla Plaid can do 0-60 under 2 seconds does it matter that a Lucid Sapphire at double the cost can do it too? Maybe to some, but Tesla has other advantages that Lucid clearly does not (batter tabs for one). You can also say people hate the look of Teslas and that is why the Ioniq 5 is the car of the year (sorry Lucid). Most people don't care about my motor has better power to weight ratio than XY or Z, people buy what they like based on all sorts of factors. People are buying the new Hummer like crazy over 10x more than Lucid, why do they want a 10K lb car that is power inefficient, cuz it looks cool.

I hope you are not being a Troll and are just trying to make a joke. I plan on buying 3 EVs in the next year all from different manufacturers. Just like I tell everybody here, it's your money buy whatever you want with it. I have decided that I am not going to buy an $80K plus Pure, if they ever offer it (Yes I have OG pricing and No, I did not lock in). That's my choice, I like Lucid, I love the tech talks, I can see them being successful and feel they will be. I have options and more mature software options are what I want...that's my choice.
People are RESERVING the Hummer but not purchasing it in large quantities:

"The all-electric GMC Hummer EV Pickup continues its ramp-up, reaching a new quarterly sales record of 411 units (compared to 272 in Q2)."

From Inside EVs website.

I think the Hummer looks nice, but I would prefer the SUV variant coming if I wanted one, which I do not want a 10k lb auto. The out-of-the-box design of the Cybertruck is intriguing.

This decade will go down in history as the EV Introduction away from Combustion Revolution. So many EV models are coming (except Toyota & Honda holding on). I hope by 2025 we will have so many options that it forces the quality up.

I think car companies are learning the software UI is not an afterthought anymore. With our phones ruling how we live and access data, we expect the same in any touchscreen software-driven UI. Either be a tech company or die. Software is king and it will rule the world.

I don‘t think there is an EV that fits that category yet. The BMW hybrids might be a good fit.

I have a BMW PHEV (530e). The software is definitely more mature but the range is also limited. The PHEVs have the advantage of a petrol engine which definitely gives me peace of mind; but the other side of the coin is that I have both an ICE and an electric motor system so more complexity and more to go wrong.

BMW makes a good 5 series PHEV (545e) but the $%#^%# won't sell it in the US. I have not failed to have enough power on my 530e when I needed it BUT I do wish for more power which, by the way, the Pure will give me.

The other problem, IMHO, with BMW is the current design ethos (or lack of one). Most of the newer design are truly ugly. I test drove the IX and liked the way it drove but couldn't stand looking at it.

They’ve ramped up production significantly, as can be seen on the tracker.

The reason they weigh the motors is because that’s how you measure efficiency; it’s a power to weight ratio.

The tech talks are mostly just showing off their technology.
Also good for recruiting engineers.

Well, I have driven a new S Class and I think that my DE drives better. The S Class is very quiet and "cushy", The Lucid is not.
Yes, model S is very nice car with amazing software features! But I drove Lucid Air GT today and the car is also great. The handling and the performance are great. I personally love Lucid interior more except the screens layout which I prefer Rivian or Tesla ways. Some work is needed on the software side but I think the car will beat Tesla eventually if they know how to promote their cars.

Elon played it very smart and let his cars promote itself by equipping them with many hardware and kept enabling many features through software updates over the years while others ask for some money to update certain features or use cheap materials to save the cost. I remember when everyone was blaming him for selling Model 3 cars at the cost price back in 2018.

I think it will be a Lucid time when the Pure goes into production.

I love the Lucid Tech Talks, but the information they go into seems to have an alternate purpose. I get the feeling Lucid is looking to be bought by Apple (anyone really) or they are hoping other car companies will want to partner with them to supply Lucid IP to other EVs. Things Peter says it is almost like hey we have this here and we did a lot of work so why try and make your own when we have better stuff. The motors being smaller and lighter, I laughed at personally, because a car that weighs 5,000lbs and your motors are 30lbs lighter, so what. I get the feeling they are shopping for buyers and/or partners...which is fine.

I just don't see how any of this info is going to make someone buy the car because a motor is a few lbs lighter or the battery packs are modules. It seems to have an alternate purpose, maybe just to show they are legit and have great tech, which they do. I think at this point, with all the issues, software being a major factor, and the inability to make cars with no date in sight for the Pure I am going to cancel. I will wait for more maturity in the brand and maybe even some more models offered.

Good Luck to all and best of luck Lucid.
Lucid can't even get its cars to work with CarPlay, when nearly every electric vehicle in existence comes with CarPlay, and you think Lucid believes Apple is going to buy them?

Hmm... By quantity alone, most EVs do not have CarPlay thanks to Tesla. How long did it take Polestar? Are any plans in the works for Rivian?

And the hypothesis that a car manufacturer must already have CarPlay to be purchased by Apple is a bit suspect. For that matter, once the Lucid gets CarPlay, which should hopefully be soon but is dependent upon Apple's approval, does that mean that Lucid will be purchased by Apple?

As far as I can tell, this idea that Lucid is waiting on Apple is a fabrication. Does anyone have link to some evidence that the only thing holding up CarPlay on the Lucid Air is Apple? I have never seen it.

Industry knowledge is before you have something to use Apple proprietary technology, get in line for Apple approval or else get banned. Standard queue is approximately 60 days from date of application to review. We shall see.

That makes it mere a rumor. (And I want to be clear here that I am not trying to start a fight with anyone, although there does seem to be a desire on this site to avoid criticizing Lucid even when Lucid deserves the criticism.) This "we are all happy with our Lucid" fantasy tells Lucid that its owners are happy with a substandard product instead of a superior product. Telling Lucid that their car is great when it is not will only lead to complacency on Lucid's part. As the author of the article below states, "Believe it or not, one of the main reasons I ordered a Lucid Air and not a Tesla was because Lucid Motors says the car supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. I am not alone, a lot of EV buyers are not going with Tesla because it does not support Apple CarPlay and/or Android Auto." And I agree with the author. I bought a Lucid believing it supported Apple CarPlay, because Lucid expressly advertises that it supports Apple CarPlay.

All of this leads to the fact that there should be an uproar in the Lucid community about the fact that Lucid has been advertising to potential buyers that Lucid supports CarPlay when it does not. At the very least Lucid should be concerned that this false advertising may well lead a lawsuit. As for the claim that it takes "60 days from date of application to review" for Apple's approval, this rumor that Lucid will have CarPlay has been going on for well over a year. For example, the article below states "CarPlay Coming To The Lucid Air End Of Summer." The article also states, "Some thought it was an Apple issue, where Apple has not given approval to Lucid Motors yet. But most do not believe that."

Finally, one commenter on the above article states, "I refuse to purchase any car that does not use CarPlay. Apple hit a home run with CarPlay." From what I have seen out here, that is a sentiment from many potential buyers. Apple engineering manager Emily Schubert said 98% of new cars in the U.S. come with CarPlay installed. She then delivered a shocking statistic: 79% of U.S. buyers would only buy a car if it supported CarPlay, which is probably why Lucid is advertising it support CarPlay. However, Lucid is selling $150,000 and $250,000 cars, which it says support Apple CarPlay but don't actually support Apple CarPlay.

Lucid is shooting itself in the foot by not supporting CarPlay, especially after specifically stating that it does, and Lucid is only making the problem worse by not addressing owner concerns, instead allowing rumors to dictate what should be press releases. And to be clear, Lucid does not say "Air cars will support Apple CarPlay one day." Lucas says "Air is even compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and countless other apps." https://www.lucidmotors.com/air/connectivity

This is my opinion and I recognize that it does not comply with the Kumbaya attitude many out here have about Lucid, but I frankly do not see the point of pretending that reality doesn't exist.

Sigh, I fail to understand how anyone can be on this site and still have the feeling that there is no criticism of Lucid when Every Single Day there are multiple posts expressing displeasure with one aspect or another of the car. Unlike Tesla and Rivian, Lucid has expressly come out and said, "Yes, we are getting CarPlay on these vehicles." Has it been delayed? Sure. But, I'd rather have them say they will do it and trust they are working towards that goal than flat out say they aren't including it in the car.

I'd like to leave issues like this to the people who have had first handle knowledge of the CarPlay approval process or even the Apple App approval process and unless you have experienced that first hand, then everything you reference is just a rumor.

I have said this before and will again, Lucid's software is 12-18 behind their PR department. They want to and will deliver CarPlay and Android Auto but we are just now seeing a real release candidate for production software. I have been a harsh critic of the software BUT it is finally getting to the point that we will have a stable release and Lucid will be able to concentrate on new features.

Just my $0.2 worth.

Maybe you don’t read enough of this forum. I’ve been reading complaints nonstop for 6 months since signed up here.

You just need to chill. Apple CarPlay and Andoid Auto are coming. There were even photo leaks. There are only 4 PURIST EV companies right now. Tesla, Rivian, Polestar and Lucid. Polestar publicly stated CarPlay was coming on top of Android Auto System, for how long? On 28th month after their debut. From what I see how much Lucid has been updating its software last 4 months, I’m sure it will be significantly less than 28 months. We are on 13th month of Lucid production. Just take a deep breath… If you want CarPlay you can also wait for few more months for the purist EV like VinFast and Fisker coming out with same promises too. For Tesla and Rivian, I doubt they ever will deploy that option.
