Turtle of Doom!

This. Absolutely. Did. Not. Happen. See my multiple posts on "the car just died." And I insisted on it. So I think every prospective buyer of this car needs to know: that you might be up $h!it creek and NOT get any rental and have to arrange it yourself, go and get it yourself, and pay for it yourself. And hope you get reimbursed. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Your situation, while shitty, is the exception. I would, btw, run this as high up on the chain as you could - email Zak Edson if you haven’t already.

Yeah your situation sucked, they screwed up and didn’t follow their own standard practice. Your experience seems to be relatively anomalous though, I can think of only one other example of someone in Georgia I think where there wasn’t a service center and Lucid wasn’t helpful? This is not to discredit your situation which was bad and I would have been pissed too, but the best potential buyers can do is evaluate stories, including yours, and decide if it major headaches combined with “you’re on your own” service are super common events or anomalous events. They appear rare, even on this forum that is heavily biased towards negativity.

Have you worked in a business?...I'm not saying they should or shouldn't disclose, for what ever reasons motivate them...I'm just saying they aren't giving me the info I need to decide...without it, I won't buy...That's a calculus on their part, and one on mine.

As the Godfather said, "It's Just Business"...as opposed to emotion....

Why are you even still here? You don't want the car, so...what even is the purpose of being here?

If it's "just business", then make the logical decision and walk away. No one is going to fault you for doing that.

Also, I have to ask, every time I see your posts; when is it that you use your Parachute Adams account? Like, how do you decide when to use Digiboxer and when to use that one?

I was just reading some items on a Rivian page and owners there are experiencing similar situations where the car fails. This is not making an excuse for anyone , but it just illustrates ( to me anyway ) that EV manufacturing is tricky ( especially for a new company ) and Lucid is certainly
not alone. That being said, failures are not as common as the selection bias here makes them appear to be.

I think that it would be a great idea for all of the EV manufactures to sit down and discussed the various failure modes that they are seeing and pool their resources to solve the problems.

It's wishful thinking but hey, I can dream!

Not to minimize the major headaches some owners went through , but incessantly worrying about the myriad of possibilities one may encounter is wasted energy. Be prepared , but not paralyzed by what ifs.
I don’t think the constant badgering here is going to have any positive effect. Just my 2 cents.

The problem is that there are a few distinct groups of people here:

1. Those who have the car, like it, and don't have problems. They want to make sure people realize that mostly problem-free cars absolutely exist, but are overshadowed by issue posts. The other groups often find this group of people really annoying.
2. Those who have the car, like it, and do have problems. They are rightfully annoyed but generally realistic about the future of Lucid, the mathematics of scale and statistics, and how to handle frustration. <-- this is a balanced place to be.
3. Those who have the car, don't like it, have major problems, and feel the need to tell everyone, constantly, even in threads where there's a hint of anything positive or helpful. People like Sam fall under this category.
4. People like digiboxer/Parachute Adams, who don't have the car, proudly proclaim they don't feel comfortable buying it, but have zero spine/follow-through on leaving, and insist on hanging out on the forum to make sure everyone else here knows how stupid they are for buying into Lucid. These people are generally too cowardly to explain why they're still here, but instead will hide behind "Just trying to get facts" and an infinite loop of "gathering info that they need to decide whether to buy" and yet somehow conveniently always find a reason to stay.
5. The LCID$ crowd, a group of people that are just investors with zero intention of buying the car and are only here because they want to see TSLA$ levels of gains. Most are clueless armchair investors who think that because they have a Robinhood account and saw what happened to GME/AMC that they are just days away from becoming super rich.

This place was a wonderful place to be while I was waiting for my car. Now that I have it, I find myself enjoying it too much to be coming to this forum to see what others are saying about the car.

I strongly suggest that people take a break from the forums from time to time. Clear your head. Do something in the real world. Come back and visit but do so in moderation. You'll be much happier.

Amen. Long live #2. The car isn’t perfect, but man it’s fantastic nevertheless. Post-2.0, I have almost no complaints.

Pre-2.0, I had plenty.

People think I am being unfair to Lucid. However, I am simply expecting a reliable car. I see both sides of this issue. I found this video to be interesting and informative.

You're not being unfair to Lucid, you're being unfair to yourself. You are obsessing about something you have a very small chance of encountering. Maybe it's just because it's new technology and you just aren't comfortable with it. Every vehicle manufacturer has recalls. Every car has a chance of failing. You're worried about being stuck out in the boonies if your car fails, but you run that risk with every car you drive.

I hope you are joking. I guess I don't think I should have to buy a backup vehicle simply because I purchased a Lucid Air. Further, what good does a second vehicle do me if the Lucid Air fails on the road?
No, was just an idea , as you seem extremely uncomfortable with the vehicle. I kept my Subaru , because of those winter days when we have so much snow that I need a high clearance vehicle. My situation is probably different , as I imagine you do not live in an area with severe winters.

Someone asked me today why I bought a Lucid, they didn't know anything about it. I said, well, I wanted and EV but just don't like Tesla's minimalist approach. I wanted a more luxurious interior, but I don't like Mercedes. But most of all, it's just STUPID fast!! 🤣 ;)😇

You nailed it. Numbers 3 and 4 can really
be challenging, to put it politely.

I come here mainly to learn and for the anonymous camaraderie( 🤣🤣), but I must admit those brutal thread headlines sure are clickbait.

The video is what can occur with ev. Last time i was "stranded" in an (ice) car was ~20 years ago when i had a flat tire one morning in my garage and that i just changed it. You must have another car with lucid and nice enough -- not just a basic backup or something that has seen its best days. You cant expect the same reliability you are used to by far. It doesnt help of course if it breaks down on the road (keep rental car phone numbers handy or better be a "valued" member so you get hot line access) but does help if it doesnt start in the garage. Also helps if it breaks down close to home in that it can be towed home and from there to the dealer later. Also, for example, id never take lucid to the air port risking missing my flight. I fly out of state weekly 1/3 of the year. From the video, its also important to keep tools in the cab so you mechanically can open the frunk where you have more tools and be able to get to the trunk and cab to lift the batteries cables in case it helps for reset. I just bought three warning triangles to put out in case my agt stalls. Also bought glass hammer, flashlight, EZ spare tire, 3 ton jack. And lucid flat tire repair kit. And three-button garage opener (screen menu chasing gets old fast) and cup holder expanders. To be able to hold a medium drink is mandatory. Im trying to buy a lucid full spare but they cant tell me how to order, what is cost, or lead time. I suspect the lucid tires are unusual and not kept in stock at tire shops. Ill keep the full spare in the garage and in the trunk for long trips. My DA doesnt communicate. Last week out of the blue i got an email with vin and that my car was fabricated and request to pay in full. I scrammbled to get insurance (costco doesnt insure lucid) and immediately gave lucid access to my checking account and could see they initiated transfer. I had to log in to lucid motor to confirm. A few days later DA said itd be shipped to me by end of week, which i didnt believe and sure enough no lucid at my house last friday. I suspected my car may be at the service center and called. They couldnt tell but promised to call back. They didnt. I called again and requested their email, which i got. Trying to get hold of people at service center, since my DA doesnt communicate, ive started to email the service center. For once, i cant take delivery 10/15-10/22 since ill be out of state, they still cant confirm they know this. They cant give estimated delivery day(s). They dont know if my agt will be delivered as promised to my home or if i have to pick it up! Among other things, I want the aero covers to be removed. All of the above follows the same pattern and therefore makes sense albeit undesired and the approach should be accordingly -- not business as usual. In addition to having a second good car, i bought and am installing a charge point hardwired with 70 A cb and also a nema 14-50 receptacle for using with the charger that comes with lucid as backup. I attach my checklist ill use for my agt.

I’ve been perfectly happy with Lucid as my only car.
It will be interesting to see how it does here this winter , in deep snow. I think it will probably handle 95% of days here. There have been a few times when I absolutely needed a high clearance vehicle to get up my hill and up my driveway. I am looking forward to testing it!

My DE is not my only car, but I have put 7500 miles on it in 9 months, so it gets driven. I will admit that on our last trip we took the EQS because I was a little nervous about a system failure, I guess because I did have one short Turtle mode "incident". The EQS was flawless and smooth and the lane keeping worked great and the navigation on the HUD worked great but... it just wasn't as much fun so we will take the Lucid next time.

costco doesnt insure lucid
This must be different state by state. I have coverage through Connect by AmFam via Costco. Got it two weeks ago - it had to go through underwriting due to the cost of the car. There are several forum members that have coverage via Costco.

I see. I have costco connect home and auto since 2010. Costco connect said they only insure up to 150000 car price, so they refused. They sent my application to their underwriters but they also refused to insure due to the 150000. I finally went with progressive. They also had the 150000 limit. However, they didnt refuse to insure, it just that my agt is only insured for up to 150000 and im ok with it since its only a few $1000s less than car price.

Your DA sounds like a specific one a few other owners have had such an experience with. Know that the DAs are overworked, they handle over 100 orders each, and while car carriers are predictable, finding individual vehicle transporters is less so (what is used for home delivery). But nonetheless that does not excuse those who did not meet the excellent standards of my SA/DA team Jacques and Mariam.

My Tesla has been the most reliable car I’ve ever had. By a long shot. EVs are not inherently unreliable. They’re actually less likely to give you trouble (far fewer parts to fail). Also, I don’t have another car, and I’ve never once worried about breaking down in the middle of nowhere.
