Update regarding Phone as a Key availability for Gravity owners

Rivian and Tesla offer other options like using your watch to open the vehicle. Rivian used to offer a wristband and Tesla even lets you use certain smart rings as well.

Plenty of ways to open a car besides a bulky key fob whose whole purpose is just that. Valets don't love it, but most know how to use the key cards to start a Tesla by now due their common place so I haven't had to explain it with either my Rivian or Tesla.

Not a big deal for some, I get it, but for those of who us who like the feature, it is in fact a big deal. This has been one of my biggest holdups, software wise, on getting a Gravity. Not the only, but its a qualify of life thing that I do enjoy is PAAK. It's like CarPlay/AA. Not a big deal for some but a make it or break it for those who do want it.
Okay this is what I don't understand, if is not okay to have to carry around a key fob but it is okay to carry around a key card? Said key card which does quite a bit less than the key fob, no trunk or frunk opening via the key card, have to enter the car and open the trunk/frunk via the dashboard.

The thing I'm wondering about is if one has to have PAAK so you don't have to carry around a key fob then I'm assuming you quite likely use applepay/googlepay and don't carry around credit cards and likely do not have a wallet (some states allow your license to be in your phone wallet). So if you don't have a wallet how would carrying around a key card work? Am I assuming something incorrect here?

I have a slim magsafe wallet attached to my phone. One can also just a carry a regular wallet and throw the keycard in there instead of carrying yet another item in the form of a fob. The app can open the frunk and trunk as well, so I really don't see a need for a fob in any scenario where PAAK is involved.

Again, totally my opinion based on my use case, but to me, it makes a huge difference. I personally don't see a need for a fob in 2026. To me.

key fob doesn't fit in my wallet

most States do not support digital licenses (only 20 and not all have full support I guess). My business credit card doesn't work with Apple Wallet, neither does my health insurance card, my business cards, or my cash money. So I have to have a wallet, and I put my Tesla card and Lucid card in there.

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

That’s our forum in a nutshell.
When the news is bad, yes. There's is no good way to deliver bad news.

I think everyone is appreciative of them informing us. That's not the disappointment. The further delay is. Whether we hear it like this or we're just left hanging for another year, it was still gonna generate a frustrating response either way.

It just also shows they were nowhere near delivering on what they promised years ago. But at least they came out and said it.

For me it's about automatic proximity unlocking vs manually intervening. Cardkeys and pressing buttons in the app are fine as backup when automatic proximity unlock fails, but that needs to be the 1% case, not the 99%. I want automatic proximity unlock 99% of the time. Just walk up and get in.

PAAK would be less important if my fob worked better. But I'm looking for PAAK to be the solution to my still frequently-occurring fob delays.

Has service had a look at it yet?

Since 3 or 4 updates ago my fob has been flawless. If you're having issues, you should really speak to the Service Center as there were definitely some vehicles that either needed fob replacements or some hardware replacements done.

That's been in the works for a while now. Moving at Lucid time. 😅

Same. 100% success rate for several months now. I really would like tho for Lucid to get all the remaining fob owners to this 100% as well to ease up some of the frustrations, which I understand are very real and valid. I could not care less either way with PaaK and I appreciate the notice of the delay, but understand some of the frustration around it. Lucid moves at Lucid pace, but I think it'll be right once they get there. That's my hope anyways! 😅

I saw someone on here saying it would cost $600 to get a second fob, but I got our 2nd fob for free. I have a GT, not DE. Not sure why some SCs do this differently

Pretty sure it’s $250. If people are willing to pay $600 for a key fob I’ll hand over my Venmo and get the keys from Lucid on their behalf and ship to them 😂

27's officially get a second fob for free. Earlier model years didn't.

Correct. I was given 2 fobs. 2027.

And the fob works perfectly for me. So I’m okay with waiting for PaaK a little longer. But it is disappointing of course. Delays always are.

Early Gravity owners paid full price for it and got only one fob that worked occasionally. You newbies have it so much easier!!! 😂

They were indeed charging $600 for a second fob late 2025. Not sure how many takers there were. My SA hooked us up with a second fob for free once while our GGT was in for service.

There will always have to be a key card backup, just not a fob. For valet situations, or when your phone breaks/battery dies, you'd have a backup card.
No, there really doesn't need to be a key card backup. For my other two vehicles (Toyota Highlander and Ram 2500), the fob has a built-in backup if the battery dies, and neither vehicle ships with a key card backup. And that's been 100% fine with me, and has never caused me a problem. It seems that only with a new generation of vehicles has someone decided that you need a wallet card. Personally, I dread trying to explain to a valet how to use a key card, and hope that when they try to retrieve the car back later that they can remember where you're supposed to wave the card to get the car to start. I'd much much much prefer to just hand them the fob, which everyone knows how to use. Same deal if a friend wants to "borrow my keys" to unblock their car, or make a run to the store, or whatever. I guess I can see some tiny appeal to minimalism by eliminating one small thing from from your pocket, but the convenience of a fob outweighs the gain of pocket space in my opinion. Maybe if I was a woman, where they've decided that clothes shall not have pockets, I'd feel differently. But I doubt it, because then you just need to carry a purse for things like your cell phone, and a fob fits just fine. I recognize that I'm probably an old fart who isn't keeping up with the times, but I don't understand the obsession with PAAK. It strikes me as a cool but minor feature. None of which excuses Lucid from promising and then failing to deliver, of course.
