any leaked photos?

As a guy who works for Porsche and Drives an Air GT…. I’m not sure I agree with this.

I mean depending on the Taycan…. I think the Air does a pretty outstanding job ESPECIALLY considering the room my passengers have in the Air.
Personally I think that if Lucid can get even 2nd place or like 80-90% of the way to Porsche in terms of driving dynamics while still keeping their costs down and benchmarks high in other factors such as ergonomics, ingress/egress, comfort, cargo volume, etc., they would land in a very good spot

Indeed. I think Teslas are perfectly fine, better than average cars. But they are most decidedly not driving enthusiast cars. Harsh ride. Not very good in a corner. And the Y is markedly worse to drive than the 3.

It’s great they are out there, and I appreciate what the brand did for EVs in general. And they will remain more affordable than Lucid. But Lucid is just in a whole other class when it comes to driving dynamics.

Cosmos will offer Porsche-level driving fun in a slightly-more-than-Model Y price. I think that’s a winning formula.
I don’t think Tesla will sell cars in five years. Robots and Robotaxis only. Their sales will continue to crater for model 3 and Y as these other competitors take over.

Exactly. Which was my original point. But some people insist on being literal.

Of all the EV manufacturers out there, Lucid destroys them all in balancing driving dynamics, packaging, efficiency, and price, frankly.

Cosmos will be the ultimate expression of that.

Are Porsches technically a little more fun to drive? I think that’s somewhat subjective, even as I admit driving a Porsche was maybe the one time I thought “Okay, maybe this is better than my Air.” They have a long pedigree of making incredible cars. I’m a fan.

The fact remains you will not be able to come near that level of driving enjoyment for $50k from a new Porsche. Ever. Cosmos will get you closer than anyone else, including Porsche, at that price point. That is all.

You may be right about that. Particularly if they continue to let their models rot for years with no significant updates.

And to be clear, I’m not even sure that’s a problem in Musk’s mind. He’d rather run a robotaxi and robot company at this point. He proved everything he needed to prove with EVs being viable, better cars than ICE.

I'd actually disagree with this statement. Until robots and robotaxis prove themselves and are able to stand on their own financially, they are going to have rely on the 3 and Y to keep the company afloat. Rumors have been discussing a larger and smaller SUV in the works and the Model Y L likely hitting the U.S. soon.

Does Tesla make the best cars? In some aspects, yes, but most on this forum would like to say no, so sure, maybe they don't. Even then, it is hard to argue the value proposition they provide along with mature software. That is the reason they continue to sell as well as they do despite the competition only getting better and better. Feel how you want about Tesla, I would not count them out anytime soon in the EV space.

As for me, I hope they continue to make vehicles. The cybertruck is polarizing but the tech there can make room for a truly great vehicle if they want to compete again. Time will tell. Competition is always good, so I say keep it coming. Plaid Model 3 anyone?

On Silvio Napoli's LinkedIn page, the background shows 3 vehicles: Air, Gravity and possibly the midsize Cosmos.

That silhouette, presumably of the Cosmos, tells me that Lucid may be swimming upstream with their initial midsize CUV with that heavily raked roof/trunkline.

I'd love to be proven wrong but this segment is moving towards boxier silhouettes with every new model and Lucid is zagging to whatever that is.

Boxier means less range. And Lucid packaging will be so superior that they don’t need a boxy shape.

Plenty of Tesla eggs have sold. I think the key to making most people happy with the raked roofline is a long enough snoot to match. The Air is nice enough. Cab forward like the Gravity + raked roof might be a bad combo.

I, for one, am happy to see non-boxy, wannabe truck SUV designs. It’s just not Lucid’s design language. And as others have stated, it would come at a major cost to efficiency and range. Just look at the R2.

Then again, I’m also the weirdo who is happy to see Gravity look more like a minivan than a truck.

Cars are supposed to be sleek and sexy. The whole trend towards hyper masculine tough guy mobiles is super played out at this point. Lucids look ahead of their time as a result.

BMW is already moving away from this trend. Porsche never went there, which is why their cars look timeless.

If the Cosmos leans closer to a station wagon / estate than a traditional "SUV", Lucid can market it as a crossover all they want, I've got station wagon on my sights!
Now if there was a tri-motor Sapphire variant of the Cosmos, I'd call it my dream performance wagon!

Yeah, that’s definitely AI

It’s within the realm of possibility. A very similar roof line to what’s been hinted at. It’s a little too close to the gravity and doesn’t fully align to the rear of what’s in Silvio’s LinkedIn banner. But if it looks like and hits that price point reasonably optioned it should sell well

In 3ish years I’ll probably be in the market for it.
