2027 Gravity available for order

Or embrace the mini-van comparison that Lucid hates
Funny you say that, I played golf at a neighboring country club, dropped my clubs at the valet and told him I had to self park. Walked back up, explained to him it’s not you it’s me, car key fob sometimes doesn’t work. He says, “no worries, I’ve never seen a Lucid minivan before.” I cringed, said it’s a SUV and kept walking lol

I've never tried the feature on an S Class, but your description makes sense to me. Personally, I don't really see the point of the soft-close feature. I've never had a problem closing car doors, and it just seems like more gadgetry to break and need repaired. Same opinion about the frameless windows. But if you're going to do it at all, then go all-out and deliver the experience you describe that the S Class offers. Or embrace the mini-van comparison that Lucid hates, and have push buttons to open and close the doors. :p (Yes, I know that's a terrible idea for doors that swing out)
I had them on a BMW 7 series - they were nice, but I can’t tell you how often someone would partially close the door, and instead of waiting one millisecond for the actuator to work, they would open the door and slam it harder. I think it works best for kids who just don’t get it closed all the way - adults seem to be the ones who negated the feature more often.

New feature? AM radio in the '27:

View attachment 37996
Was just saying to spouse, I regretted not paying extra for the AM tuner, in a Tesla MCU2 upgrade. Now, TuneIn radio has incessant ads that, like much of streaming, always start you off with the beginning of an ad and then repeat that same ad, or a long promo for TuneIn itself. All I listen to is Bloomberg (which is free on AM, Roku...). Now it's for ransom - $80/year.

Does Apple reimburse buyers when a product is updated the next day? C'mon! :)
Bad comparison as with Apple you can return the original to then buy the updated. ;)

Placed my order today, fellas.
Congrats! Have you been assigned a VIN, Production date? Curious if they are accurate in their configurator estimates of 8 to 12 weeks delivery (for new 2027MY builds).

Placed a similar order April 14th - Stellar White , Ojai Leather Interior, 20"/21", Stealth. All options but no tow, 5 seats. No VIN yet assigned, and REALLY anxious to get into this car (no more diesel fill ups - price varies based on the Strait being open or closed, but paying up to $2.19/L up here).

Also excited for the new, immersive AM radio experience with the 22 speaker SSP ;)

Nothing yet but checking daily. Congrats on your purchase too.

If it happens to be within 14 days, sure.

But cars don’t work that way.

Lucid gave you every indication that a 2027 model was coming shortly. They also seem to have priced options such that a similarly equipped Gravity costs the same or more now. So I think this is mountains out of molehills.

Personally I’m happy to see Lucid does regular model year refreshes with at least some minor changes. Shows they are paying attention to what is selling and how they can get closer to profitability.

I wasn't complaining, just pointing out that the Apple return comparison was a bad one because yes, you can do that.

It never made sense to me that they wouldn't include the camera features of DD2 Premium in such an expensive luxury car in the first place. So I can see why they figured that out and are making that standard now.

I made the mistake of thinking the higher DD2 packages were just self-drive features that I wasn't interested in, so I'm on DD2 Base. By the time I realized DD2 Premium turned on a lot of useful camera views that I assumed would come standard, it was too late. 2 months ago I inquired about doing the $1500 upgrade retroactively and they said yes, that can be done. I called to schedule an appointment and they said they just got the memo that morning that it would be available as a software upgrade feature coming soon to the app.

That was 2 months ago. Not seeing anything yet.

I'm right with you on the DD2 "Standard" not being up to standards for this price-point. I also chose the base DD2 setup because I dislike self-driving tech -- especially on a vehicle this engaging to drive!

I also assumed that all four cameras worked on the base DD2 as part of the "Parking Experience." Did you notice that the user manual (p. 122) indicates "Surround View Monitoring" is a non-premium (e.g. "Standard") feature?

I addressed this discrepancy via email with Customer Care but their response was Monty-Python level:

"Regarding your main concern around Surrounding Object Visualization and Surround View Monitoring: this is a software-related topic, and Customer Care does not have direct visibility into feature scope changes, software design decisions, or roadmap details for DreamDrive packages."

IOW sorry, the words in the Gravity user manual are a typographic-related topic, and the missing feature they describe is a "software-related topic"...

Also -- before the 3.5.1 update there was a tiny but useful sliver of the live-view video that showed around the car on the top-view parking / distance-monitor display. This was disappointing but useful to see painted lines or the strategically placed rubber mat in my garage. With the update they modified this to completely eliminate any live view whatsoever.

where'd you see that? (I couldn't find it)

I'll be both glad and annoyed if they now decided to put the Air EMI reduction treatments in the Gravity for that.
OK, I saw it on the compare 2027's Gravitys page. I'll believe it when I see it; as that can be quite a change if they do it right.

if true, I may see if a retrofit is possible.

Configurator now has 2027 gravity available in 2 weeks.
I'll believe that when I see it. I was told my Gravity would be 4-6 weeks multiple times. The only reason I got it after 5 months is I ended up buying a similar one from inventory.

does that mean the surround cameras are there and just not enabled in the 2026 "standard" config? I currently have a GT loaner like that with nothing but black around the car in the Pilot Panel parking view.

and yes, it's weird for a car this expensive to not have the 360 stuff.

Nice catch. Just looked and zero incentives or special financing on those yet. Don’t expect them too, until they clear out the 2026 and then I bet they continue again. 2026 is a way better purchase right now, unless something on the 2027 changed that makes it even better.
