New Bugs Since 3.5.1

Are you still getting this? I picked up my gravity yesterday and got it as soon as I got home. I texted the guy who helped with my delivery and he said it might just go away.
Yes, still seeing the error message.
Texted Customer Care today and they said do a hard reset.
Will try that later today.

A few new oddball ones. The drivers side window only goes up 1/2 way when I hit the lift button. I have to hold the button for it to go all the way up, and then it Jay drop by itself to half way. This happens about once every 4 day or so. Also drivers door sometimes doesn’t catch soft close, just springs open when I try to close occasionally.
Same for mine. Got it back from tint and it's only the driver's side; auto up stops half way and reverses. I can inch it up bit by bit to close but no bueno.

I chalked it up to maybe some drag on the wipes from cleaning for tint but now I read here it's a SW issue.

When my brother and his spouse visit they sometimes go out with their own friends from when they used to live here in Florida, and they like to take a larger car. I used to just give them the keys for the Honda Odyssey, and off they would go. As the Honda is now gone, today they wanted to take one of the Gravities.

It was quite a departure ceremony. I had to give them a key card as well as the fob and show them how to use the card to open the car and then to start it (as sometimes it will start without the card, and sometimes it won't.) I had to give them a note with the PIN code, as sometimes the car will ask for that if you use the key card, and sometimes it won't. I had to instruct them on how to do a reboot in case the screens malfunctioned as they did yesterday. They were also going to an outlet mall, and I had to instruct them what to do if the rear hatch refused to latch or seized while opening. I told them to ignore the VIBE lighting if it malfunctioned, as a reboot doesn't fix that, anyway.

Lord, there are days I miss the Honda.
It's crazy to me that they built a fob that doesn't have the backup NFC card built right into it. That's the way my other vehicles work. The moment you have to hand someone a backup key for the just-in-case scenarios, it's a bad look for the vehicle, even if the fob was much more reliable than it currently is. They could theoretically redo the fob to fix that, without changing anything about the vehicle, and I hope they do it. Or maybe some enterprising person with a 3-d printer can make a franken-fob that has both the fob electronics and the passive NFC from the key card.

I believe that the fob does have NFC built in. At least the RF regulatory information shows it. It is just not enabled yet. I hope that Lucid does enable this at some point.

I dealt with key fob issues for many months after our Air delivery in December 2021. Now I've been dealing with Gravity key fob issues since June 2025 with no end in sight. In fact, the problem has worsened in one of the cars over the past few weeks.

Never in over fifty years of owning numerous car brands have I EVER had problems getting a car unlocked, started, or relocked until I started buying Lucids.

It may well be one of the reasons that, were it not for the 10-1 reverse split, Lucid would now be a penny stock barred from trading on stock exchanges. It's an absolutely absurd situation to try to sell a car that can't be reliably opened and started with the device intended to do so. It raises fundamental questions about whether the carmaker should even be in this business.

A supplier of powertrain components, yes. A chassis consulting house, yes. An automotive design studio, yes. A maker of actual cars, no.

Did a hard reset as per instruction from Customer Care.
Let the car sleep for 2 hours.
The Drive System Warning re-appeared immediately with the next drive.
By the way, the fob also works intermittently. Can't lock the car manually.
My service appointment won't be until June 11.
I'm a bit disappointed that I have more issues and longer service wait time than with the Air.

After a call to service center, I learned a couple things that may be helpful in case others have this issue with the window not closing/bumping the top and staying open:

I tried the above and everything else I knew (reset windows w switch, reset car, deep reset of car, etc) and nothing was working. As I tried things, the window became totally unusable and wouldn't even move anymore. So I called service and a couple things:
-If you click the window button too many times, it causes the regulator to overheat since it's sending voltage with every click. So if this happens, let it sleep for ~30 minutes to cool down. It became responsive again after I did this.
-The 2nd point is important: When you put the window all the way down to reset it, you can't push the switch all the way to automatically roll down. You must do the half click to manually roll it down. Only then can you do the hold down for :10 to reset.

I'm still not sure this is actually fixed but at least I now know the reset to get the window to close if this happens again. Mobile service is ordering a new regulator in case this goes wonky again.
I'm doing a terrible job of getting this info to you, but you'll be able to dive further. What caught my eye was that you got your car back from tint - where they were messing with the window switches all day. You might try the reset as explained by @raleighone and see if it helps.

I took my brother and his spouse to the airport today for their return home, and once again the Pilot Screen and steering wheel buttons froze on the newer Gravity while driving down the road. No ability to adjust drive mode, ride height, music selection, audio volume, A/C:

This made for a perfect record for their 5-day visit. Not once were they in either Gravity without one software feature or another malfunctioning. In the older Gravity, it was mostly the VIBE lighting on the dashboard. In the newer Gravity it was mostly locking/unlocking issues. But there were occasional side trips into screens blacking out or pixelating and rapidly pulsing, and rear hatch malfunctions.

They loved everything else about the Gravity -- style, room, ride, handling, quietness, interior quality -- and chose it over the Air to take on their own outings. But my brother, who was hoping to get an Earth or Cosmos and has been following the press on them more closely than I, was confirmed in his view that they cannot risk getting a Lucid, as it would be their only car. One of their trips on the visit was to the Rivian showroom in Ft. Myers to see what they could find out about the R2.

He said pretty much what I've been saying. It's just such a damn, damn shame that such a wonderful vehicle can be done in by malignantly unstable user software.

Weirdly old versions of the owner's manual for Gravity talk about using the fob's NFC as a backup if the battery dies but it never worked and they quietly removed that from the manual a few versions back. I do wonder if that functionality will ever return or if they just scrapped it and disabled it on the fobs.

This happens about once every 4 day or so. Also drivers door sometimes doesn’t catch soft close, just springs open when I try to close occasionally.

I had this happen one day. The window would reach the top and then drop down 1/2 way. The problem persisted for 24 hours. After a hard reset and overnight sleep didn’t fix the problem, I ended up “fixing” it as I was trying to diagnose what was happening. It was a door/window alignment issue where the window thinks it’s hitting an obstacle.

Can you try the following?
  • Stand outside with the window down. Press the window up button.
  • As the window nears the top, gently push on it from the outside to guide the window into the weather-stripping slot.
That gentle pressure must have realigned the window, as the window stayed up and the problem went away. It’s been over a week without a recurrence.

I’m still going to have service take a look at that in my next appointment as it shouldn’t go out of alignment that easily in the first place. As a side note, I’m hearing slight wind noise above 60 miles per hour, so I think my window/door is borderline misaligned. The wind noise started happening after a service appointment (for some Due Bill items) where there was some work done on door alignment.

Okay, this one is odd: Came out today after home charging to 80% and unplugged, and car gave message "Charging unvailable. Charging system error, contact Customer care." Seeing that I'm leaving on a 6 week car camping trip Monday, um, not great. I tried resetting and plugging back in (it didn't acknowledge it was plugged in at all) and nothing fixed it.

Finally, after letting it fully sleep for 30 min, I went out to the car and it also gave me a "Your FOB is nearly out of battery." So I replaced the battery and suddenly the charging error went away. I plugged in and it started charging.

Anyone have any ideas? I mean, it's coincidence those happened at same time, right? A low battery in FOB causing a completely unrelated error message? Perhaps...

Just a guess but my experience is that a low battery or replacing a fob battery within range of the gravity can cause seemingly unrelated software issues. In doing fob battery life experiments I've seen driver seat lay back on door opening, various error - unavailable messages and black screens. It's as if the car is putting unverified messages onto some kind of que that is expecting only correct messages. The mis-formed message is then parsed into an alternate unexpected command.

Interesting. I hope that's the case and that I don't actually have an issue other than the false warning. Keeping fingers crossed it doesn't come back...just talked w Lucid Tech and he had no idea what would cause this.

I’ve had this message a fair amount. For me it happened most often in the cold. During the coldest nights my car would stop charging. Sometimes it would start again on its own; sometimes I’d have to unplug and replug to make it start again.

Service looked at it and found nothing. It happened 10-12 times over several weeks. Hasn’t happened in a while. Wish us luck!

If seen that also. I have to suspect that there's some kind of hardware incompatibility between the vehicle and the fob's NFC, and Lucid has just decided that it's not worth issuing updated fobs that have NFC that matches what's in the keycard. I find that absolutely baffling. Even if the fob works perfectly, it's only a matter of time before someone runs out of battery with their fob, and is locked out because they forget to bring a key card along as a backup.

Remote start (unless in the middle of nowhere with no cell coverage 😂)

The security on the cards and the NFC in the fob will use a public and private key that prevents copying and any sort of relay attack. My guess is that there is an issue with the car not having the correct NFC key for the fob. We may still see an OTA to enable the functionality and that we may have to visit a service center to have the NFC in the fob linked to our car.

Thanks but tried the ways he described and no luck.

I have a question for the The Forum members. My GGT was in deer vs Gravity incident one month ago and has been in the shop since then. Still awaiting parts. I had zero problems with my GGT at 341 miles when the wreck occurred. I have not updated to 3.5 or any software update since then. Is updating a requirement? I've had none of the problems mentioned here and, if possible, I think that a current software update is unwise. Do I have the choice of NOT updating software?

It’s part of the sales agreement that you must update the cars software within a certain timeframe I believe. Getting behind in updates can also cause potential problems.

The updates must be installed in order as well so when the next one comes you have to go to 3.5 before you can get the next update.

Key fob issues aside, the only issue I’m seeing on the latest version is sporadic face camera not available messages. Everything else has been stable.
