Q1 deliveries much worse than expected

BTW, Schedule A service costs between $325-$350. Renting me a car for 2 weeks from Enterprise PLUS the service will cost Lucid a lot more than that!

In the end, Lucid will lose money. The customer is not happy. Why is this a good practice?!

Is anyone surprised at the stock performance with a process like this? It’s idiocy on every level and would be fixable in 5 minutes: “BS8899, you are now in the queue for this service. You will be notified two days before we are ready for your car, and we will provide two day’s loaner or rental. We expect this to be in two weeks and will update you if we are able to see you sooner. In the meantime, enjoy your Air and we look forward to seeing you in 2 weeks.”

Done. Having the car sit at a warehouse doing nothing and then paying for a rental the whole time is asinine, and totally frustrating for the customer, especially for a regularly scheduled non-critical service appointment.

This company needs an overhaul top to bottom in how to run a business.

I was about to say exactly the same

A perplexing experience that might presage challenges as Lucid tackles the broader market:

> I took my 2022 AGT into service this morning at the Scottsdale SC. The appointment is for a "Schedule A" annual maintenance. It was scheduled 4 months ago.
> the check-in went fine, and Lucid booked me an Enterprise rental.
> so, I casually asked, "what time can I pick up my car?", the answer, "in about 2 weeks!" It was unreal!

Before you jump all over me:

> "Schedule A" maintenance is the light-touch one.
> I have another car, and I also have the Enterprise rental. And I live 4 miles from the SC. So, there is no "hardship" per se.
> But this is not going to fly when Lucid tackles the mid-size market.

I have a very good relationship with the Scottsdale SC, and I like the staff there. It seems to me that staffing cutback and other service problems have the SC is overwhelmed.

This kind of performance is atypical for the Scottsdale SC. The ONLY TIME I had to leave my AGT there for overnight service was 2 weeks after I took deliver in Oct 2022...Lucid had to replace the battery and the Wunderbox as the car won't charge at my home.

I hope the new CEO and his staff take service seriously. Protracted services in a mass market (mid-size) is a deal-killer!
Nobody is going to jump all over you. At least I won't because I saw the same thing in December for Air service and in Feb for Gravity service. I even spoke to the service manager about it and the model that they use to schedule service. This practice seems widespread across many service centers and is not good for Lucid nor the customer.

That’s plain stupidity! Who is responsible for service leadership?

It wasn't like this before, certainly not at the Scottsdale SC!

The last time they serviced my AGT was about 1-1/2 years ago, without being asked, they went above-and-beyond and rerouted my (amateurish) installation of my dashcam, and I posted an acknowledgement on this forum about the (good) experience. I haven't seen my original service advisor there in a while. She might have left. The people I interact with seem fine and helpful. But the scheduling process I experienced today was a stunner!

I’ve spoken to the BH Service Center about it numerous times also saying the process needs an overhaul as it’s just not sustainable. The last visit they had a backlog of 70 cars or so and that site only has 2 or 3 car lifts.

If they’re struggling this bad with 2 low volume models, the midsize will kill them. New model on yet another new platform will have the same teething issues as all new models do.

Can the Lucid rep on this board send a message to new CEO to fix service availability and process. It’s just a big disaster.

Ideally, CEO should be logging in everyday and seeing what customers are thinking. It’s just one website and takes 15 minutes of his esteemed time.

Did anyone else see that today Lucid produced its 50,000th vehicle? Pretty sweet milestone. Not to mention they’ve built 2,023 vehicles in the first 17 days of this quarter.

I guess that is nice, but if they keep have service issues like what is posted on this thread, then they will have major issues going forward and stats like that won’t matter.

Definitely scares potential buyers away like me that are not that close to a service center. And I don’t want an Enterprise rental for a couple weeks or more either. Just not acceptable practice for cars that are this expensive. I would really like to buy a Lucid, but puts doubt in your mind when I keep reading stories like this. They need to get their act together fast.

Sharing another example of a service experience at the Chicago Goose Island location that seems more and more common at the service centers based on recent posts. I used the app to schedule my 40K service and to repair a broker rear passenger door handle. The next appointment was two months out which was fine since the issue wasn’t urgent. A few days out, I tried calling the service center number and texting the service manager to ensure there would be a loaner available to me. No response despite a few attempts and messages. So I showed up for my appointment at 7 AM as scheduled. The service manager had me sign the usual service paperwork and then told me “well, we’re really backed up and we won’t even be able to assign a technician to service your car until at least mid-week next week.” So I was wondering why couldn’t I just have kept my car until they were ready to service my appointment versus it just sitting at the service center? Now we’re almost 10 days past and I haven’t heard a word from the service center. I’m not in a rush since they gave me a Gravity and it’s been just fine driving it. Even when he offered the Gravity as a loaner he said they didn’t have a clean loaner and I wasn’t vacuumed or washed and he seemed a bit embarrassed about the condition of the loaner. But since I needed to get to a work meeting and couldn’t wait, I took the very dirty Gravity and just hand washed it myself when I got home. The whole experience seemed a bit disjointed, unprofessional, and disorganized. Very different experience since my last service visits to Goose Island which always were a pleasure.

I would ask if there were any other items they were planning for your Air GT. They may have a maintnence campaign which requires parts or extended time. Once I took my GT to the Scottsdale SC for a routine service (in 2025) and they said that they wanted to replace the high-voltage battery pack at no charge be it would take a week or two. I could leave it there or reschedule. I was happy to leave it to get a new battery on a 3 year old car at no charge (other than the inconvence of not having the car for a longer period of time). All they said was that the battery pack had drifted out of spec and they wanted to offer me a replacment. I had no complaints and did not have any range or charging issues. I thought it was a great offer from Lucid.

All fair points. But none of those were suggested as the reasons. And let's be real, 2 weeks?!

Lucid can see my car (electronically). Allegedly, they (can) contact their customers and alert them of issues the customer wasn't even aware of.

But (I don't think) that was what's happening here. I think the SCs are overwhelmed. I booked this appointment 4 months in advance. If Lucid's telemetry detected problems that I wasn't aware off, they would/should have told me right there and then.

My beef is, I scheduled a simple annual maintenance appointment 4 months in advance. I took the car in, today but was informed that it will take 2 weeks (to get to doing anything with the car). So, does pre-booking a service appointment 4 months in advance mean anything? Why am I informed at the last moment it will take two weeks (presumably just getting Lucid to look at the car?

Putting my own frustration and inconvenience aside, why is this good for Lucid vis-a-vis, paying two weeks of rental (Enterprise) to give me a loaner, having a surprised and disappointed customer, ad Lucid will lose money on this service appointment. Who is piloting this ship?!

I agree with you. I had to wait 2 months for my last routine service. I agree that service is getting overloaded. The only "upside" to this is that there are more Lucid's on the road. But the company is going to have to grow the service infrastructure to meet demand. I took delivery of my Air in May 2022. Back then the service center was empty. Now it's feeling cramped. That's progress (and inconvenience). I hope that Lucid opens a second service center in the Phoenix metro (perhaps east valley or north Scottsdale) to handle demand. I also remember the days when Tesla service in Phoenix was a challenge...

It’s just plain stupid way of running a service….keeping cars weeks before they get to it and paying for a rental. Great way to save money Lucid! No wonder investors are losing everything!

Interesting read about the Fisker owners who formed a collective to continue maintenance and support on their cars. Maybe this will be us someday? :)

I did see some article that Air sales dropped significantly though, so it wasn't just supply chain stopping Gravity deliveries...

While I recognize your reasonable desire for a second SC to properly handle demand, come join those of us Delawareans (is there such a word?) :) who would welcome a FIRST SC in the state. My choices are King of Prussia or Tyson's Corner. Depending on traffic & time of day, KOP is a 2:30 - 3:00 hour drive and Tysons is 3- 4 hour drive. And if you need body work performed, your travel times are similar. So this type of pain is all relative.
