New Bugs Since 3.5.1

It’s looks like 3 options. Left to right:
  • End current call and answer new call (red and green overlap)
  • Hang up (ignore incoming call)
  • Put current call on hold and answer new call (white and green overlap).

So…this weekend my driver side passenger door handle stopped presenting consistently. I’ve never had an issue with it in 9+ months. This is the type of thing that kills me. It’s totally like whack-a-mole. Bugs come and go with no rhyme or reason. I’ve never had an issue with handles, but 3.5.1 was supposed to address issues people did have….

An OTA comes, smooth sailing for 2-4 weeks, then weird stuff happens. And I am afraid to call service because the car DOES drive so well, no showstoppers now, and if I take it to service they’ll keep it for a while and I don’t think there’s really a “fix”.

Love, love the car and driving, etc. So frustrated with random stuff. Also concerned Lucid does just stop chasing its tail in the Gravity once mid size is out.

We know they’re listening and laser focused on Gravity now, so I do hope long term, stable fixes will come.

Taking another family with us on a 1,000 mile road trip this week and I just have the feeling crazy stuff is going to happen. I almost want to take wife’s R1S, and I would, except she’d NEVER let me live it down if I did that… 😢

My passenger door handle is always out now.

Re: your other issue- my passenger window often doesn't roll all the way up.

I previously had my entire driver door motor replaced after it died. I still love driving this thing but the headaches are constant and honestly embarrassing...

I'm experiencing a problem when trying to answer a second incoming call while already on another call. Although the display clearly shows the second call, the answer button (the green phone icon) appears to overlap with the reject button (the red phone icon). This makes it difficult to select the right option and answer the call properly.
This is how CarPlay does it.

One is hang up current and take new call, the other is pause current call and take new call.

I realize that this is pretty late in the game to be asking this but... Whatever possessed Lucid to choose a non-Realtime OS like Android? Years ago the general consensus was that an RtOS would be required for vehicle automation due to safety concerns.

They have a hybrid system that uses a base QNX OS for real-time modules, and then Android Auto running in a virtual machine for upper level non-real-time UI modules. I assume the rationale is that there's quite a bit of sophisticated code available for Android, and so they don't have to write everything themselves. Probably there's also an argument that flaws in the (larger?) Android code base may have limited ability to propagate into the critical real time QNX system due to the virtualization boundary.

Excellent! I actually tried QNX's PC Operating System when they sampled it, but that's as far as they went. (Not an MS fan). Thank you.

To clarify. It's "Android Automotive" - the Android-based automotive OS made by Google for car makers to use, not "Android Auto" that you use with your phone to screen project into the car's screen.

And yes, they could have named those better.

Correct.

Not using car play.
Still the same answer :)

Left button is 'hang up current call and accept new call'
Middle button is 'hang up and ignore new call'
Right button is 'put current call on hold and accept new call'

Yeah, what he said! o_O

Lucid announced their new CEO today and got another 750M in funding commitments!

Hope this bodes well for the company and the vehicles (and their owners) 😊 (And my stock!!! (which didn’t do well today) 🙄

Lol 😆. Should be displaying clean UI, not jumbled up like it's doing. That's all I'm saying and wanted to know if it's an isolated issue of other have it too.

I genuinely mean this: it seems super clear to me.

You said “Although the display clearly shows the second call, the answer button (the green phone icon) appears to overlap with the reject button (the red phone icon)” and it seemed immediately clear to me that the reason they overlap is that button performs two actions. The other buttons also overlap, as they pause/hold and accept, for example. You’re not trying to hit one of the two buttons; the two buttons is the point.

Perhaps it’s not obvious to everyone but it really did seem obvious to me.

This was not the first car I drove and all my cars did display a clean UI. Do not see anything obvious to have overlapping icons. This looks software issue wherein icons not postined in proper location ( proper alignment). Having 2 reject icon (red) and 2 answer icon (green) does not look clean or clear to me as a UI. It's not obvious which icon belong to the first call and which one is associated with the second call. I respectfully disagree.

It's been an aggravating day for me and an embarrassing one for Lucid.

I took my visiting brother and his spouse out this morning in our newer Gravity as they gushed over its looks, ride, and comfort. My brother, who has a Tesla, really liked the screen layout and was particularly impressed by things such as the transparent underbody view of the car in the parking display. But the day started with the car refusing to recognize the fob and my having to pull out the key card. During the drive I was unable to stream music, as we were getting a "Media Unavailable" message on the Pilot Screen. So I had to switch to the USB chip. We stopped for lunch and again had the same problem getting the car to unlock. Then, as I was backing out of the parking space, the backup displays on the upper and lower screens suddenly pixelated, shrunk to only a portion of the screens, and then began flashing rapidly. As we started driving down the road, the center panel of the Glass Cockpit started doing the same thing. (The left and right panels were functioning normally.)

I pulled off the road to do a reboot, but the reboot would not initiate. So I drove home to drop them off. When I did, I finally got a reboot to work, and it fixed the flashing screen. So I took off to the grocery store to pick up a few things I had intended to pick up when leaving the restaurant. I locked the car using the key fob (as automatic locking continues to malfunction), and as I walked away I heard a woman calling to me. She ran up to me to say that the car looked gorgeous and to ask if she could check it out. She said she and her husband have been anxiously waiting to get over to Miami to test drive one, as they were hoping to replace their Range Rover with it once it was off lease. This was the first one she saw in the flesh, so I offered to open it up so she could check it out.

Big mistake, as I could not get the doors to open with the fob. So I had to fish out the key card in front of her. She effused over the interior, even noticing how wide the doors opened. She asked how we liked it, and I told her we were an all-Lucid household with an Air and two Gravities. When she asked if we'd had any problems with it, I said only that the software was still a bit buggy but that Lucid was working on it. I did not tell her that our other Gravity has had to have a new front drive unit, a new HUD unit, and a new steering wheel, as I feel those were early production issues that won't likely show up in current production cars.

We headed off to the store, still chatting with each other, and I forgot to lock the car with the fob. When I finished shopping and went back to the car, I found it still unlocked.

Nothing comes easy with this car.

P.S. I captured the screen flashing on video, but my videos won't post here. I'll send it to Lucid if they want to see it.

Epilog to the above story:

My partner had taken the older Gravity while we were out in the newer one. He just got home, and I asked if that car had any problems today. He said nothing except that he got an alert on the mobile app that the car was unlocked. So he went out to check and found it locked. (The same thing happened to our newer Gravity a couple of weeks ago while we were at a restaurant, suggesting that it's yet another software issue instead of a mechanical issue with the cars.)

I've seen this a few times too
