I'm an engineer, and yes that sounds exactly like what they're doing. And it's a very sensible approach: fixing a bad weld is a surprisingly complex task when it's for a life safety critical application.

From the recall at NHTSA:

Lucid will inspect all customer-owned Gravity vehicles made before February 14, 2026, for seat welds
that do not conform to the Lucid specification. For seats with a non-conforming weld that can be
repaired with a bracket and adhesive, Lucid will install a bracket. Seats with an improper weld that
cannot be repaired with a bracket will be replaced with a new seat.

Lucid is not the first or last manufacturer who’s has to deal with a production pause from Tier 1 supplier QC issues

I had mine inspected today GGT delivered late December 2025) and was told it's within spec, no modifications/repairs necessary.

They are re-working the weld in-house. My Gravity was in for the second-row squeak fix when this came out, and unbeknownst to me Lucid fixed the weld. Weird that they didn't mention it. I wouldn't have noticed if I didn't read the final service invoice.

Mind keeping us posted on the squeak status post-update in a couple of weeks? And does the weld rework mean the orig seats stayed in place?

So I'm buying a used DE that was built in April '25 (so very early build). The dealer (not Lucid) is taking it to Lucid service to get the recall resolved before giving me the car (which is located in San Fran). How long do we think it'll take to get resolved? I'm afraid it's going to be weeks or more!

Comes down to how busy Millbrae is at the moment. A number of locations though are minimum 1 to 2 weeks before they even start to look at the vehicle so it’s anyone’s guess.

Being a safety recall it may take precedent and jump the queue though.

It also depends on whether they test the weld, find it's "w/in spec", and sign it good to go ...or whether test it weak & they install a reinforcing bracket ...or find it's too weak & decide to replace the seats. Each of those will take them ever increasing amounts of time.

Yes, still have the original seats. No squeak so far and will keep you posted!
