Bizarre Costco Tire Shop Experience

I've swapped the snow tires twice (Air) in my driveway using a jack, its not difficult. Not sure what their concerns are.
I think there is a legitimate concern about jacking up EVs because of the risks of incorrect jack positioning puncturing the battery pack. That said, it is not rocket science. Train the techs and make sure they align the jack with the lift points.

The lift pounts are fairly obvious and easy to locate. But I guess poorly trained techs could cause problems.

Took about 45min. The Discount Tire tech came and apologized to me because it took longer than expected. He explained that it was because of the foam in the (Pirelli) tire.

On my Rivian annual maintenance, I wanted to rotate the tires because I use FWD Conserve Mode a lot to maximize the efficiency. Rivian told me to take it to Discount Tire. Discount Tire does tire rotation and tire repairs for free.

I think Lucid Service Center should follow Rivian's methodology. I don't know whether Lucid Service Center rotate tires on annual maintenance and if they are doing that, they should stop and make a deal with discount Tire to do that. It saves Lucid Service Center and its customers time/money.
Why would Lucid turn away easy money? Tesla is the same, they’ll rotate tires for you for $50. That’s easy money for them. But you can’t rotate the tires on any Gravity anyways since are staggered setups.

I get that rust on my rotors as well. I never had this problem with my previous vehicles. Is this normal?

Thanks guys. Discount Tires it is. I was in the process of getting new tires before a deer ran into the drivers side of the car. The car has been out of commission for two months now as I had to wait for Lucid to deliver a new hood, front and rear diver side doors.

I've been driving the old ice BMW that I forgot to shut off a couple of times and I swore something was wrong with the engine because I forgot how noisy ice cars are.

Regarding the mission of Lucid's Service Centers:

> Lucid has few service centers. As Lucid ramps production and introduce more models (Gravity, Cosmo, Earth, etc.) and try to grow its market, Service Center is an Archilles Heel.
> Hence, the (strategic) question in front of Lucid is, should Lucid's Service Centers focus on Lucid-model-specific services or spend its time and resources on tire-rotation?
> As an example, when I scheduled my upcoming April 17th service appointment for my 2022 AGT, I have to wait 3 months to get an appointment. Yes, it might bring a few more $$ for the Scottsdale Service Center as revenue if Lucid SC does the tire rotation, but it is actually less convenient and more costly to me as a Lucid owner and takes resources away from Lucid servicing more critical issues for other owners.
>It boils down to whether Lucid wants to grow their business by competing with Discount Tires on tire rotation or use its service centers to help drive up sales of new products.
>Rivian, on the other hand, made the right choice in my opinion. Rivian told me to schedule my tire rotation with Discount Tires. It is free. And there are two Discount Tires shops within 3-5 miles of where I live. Rivian Service Center is 15+ miles away.

Point is, Rivian is managed more strategically and guides their customers to a better solution. for both Rivian and the customer. I think Lucid needs adult supervision on how to maximize their limited assets to grow the business and service their customers.

Normal. It’s because you don’t use your brakes as much in an EV. To clear it off, get on the highway and some braking. You don’t need to go crazy, but just go from 75 to 65 to 55 or whatever a few times. Using the brakes will clear off the brake dust/rust.

I printed out screen shots from the Lucid Owners Manual of the lift points of the Air and the Gravity. I keep a copy of the relevant shot in the glove boxes of our Air and our Gravities. It's a quick way to be sure someone using a jack knows where the lift points are.

Service appointment availability differs based on where you are. NorCal for me and I’m able to get my Gravity in within a week. Called about the 2nd row seat recall notice and to take care of some other cosmetic punch list items. Was told we have open availability for all of April tell me what works for you. Tire rotations would be taken care of via mobile service, so that wouldn’t impact service centers. I always do my own Tesla tire rotations anyways. All it takes is one floor jack, an impact wrench and a torque wrench. But for tire changes, I trust America’s/Discount Tire.
