Lucid Motors slashes 12% of its workforce as it seeks profitability (Feb 2026)

Can’t wait for someone to try and spin this as a positive development.
Here, let me indulge you.....you complain that they are spending too much and complain when they are trying to cut spending, make up your mind. Job cuts are always a positive unless they are cutting production, and they are not cutting production! Common sense.

I didn’t complain they were spending too much

Unfortunately the Service Centers are being hit by this reduction and I for one think that is a serious mistake. I'm coming up on my 4 year service in two weeks and my service center has lost two to this cut and two others quit recently. If they really want to cut costs they should focus on the high earners first.

I think our mobile guy is gone here too. That’s what was eluded to anyways 🤷

I can’t imagine they’re axing low level front line service folks, what would the point of that be? I swear a read somewhere it was just management.

How do you know they have been cut?

So you want them to not cut spending? Yeah, that would go very well for the company! Just remember, Trumps big beautiful bill took away a lot of cash from EV companies, they need to show some frugality. They cant just keep throwing away money. This is a good move by Lucid. They will learn to be more efficient with man/woman power in the long run.

Apples to oranges
In what way? Amazon similarly didn’t cut hourly factory workers, only the corporate workforce.

It’s literally apples to apples, just larger scale. Bigger apples.

Service is definitely starting to slip from these cuts. Dropped off my Gravity 4 days ago and no one has even looked at it yet (Drive System warning). I am dreading bringing my Air in for its annual service next week.

I had my Air in for service this week. The experience was exactly as I’ve come to expect. Car was ready when promised, loaner was provided, and communication was excellent. That’s not meant to diminish your experience but to point out that outcomes can vary. And typically I wouldn’t even mention my experience as it wasn’t particularly noteworthy. So maybe the cuts and service have nothing to do with one another.

That is expected as sales increase...same thing happened to my ICE Hyundai when I dropped it off for a electrical issue, they kept it a few days before they diagnosed the problem. Partly perception...people set higher expectations for EV companies.

And these cuts haven't started....and I would be very surprised if they cut first line staff- service, line workers, they stated its mostly the middle/sales.

These cuts were announced Friday. Your service could literally not have been affected by these cuts four days ago.

Not good news…BTW I requested help from Lucid Customer Service ten days ago. No response, yet. My question to CS, Why does my app show the car a few miles from it’s actual location? (The car is in my condo parking garage and hasn’t moved for a few eeks…). Maybe they are laying off the Customer Service staff?

The article I read said Lucid cut 12% of its total workforce. Amazon's total workforce is roughtly 1,560,000--they cut 30,000 employees (in two layoffs). That's 1.9% of their total workforce. You can't use one company's total workforce against another company's corporate workforce.

Lucid specifically didn’t cut hourly factory workers, etc., same as Amazon. The correct number to compare is corporate employees.

Do you know for sure they are only cutting corporate jobs? The press release didn't mention it as far as I remember
