How Much Difference Does It Make to Have "Acoustic Laminated Privacy Glass"?

My partner is preparing to place an order for a Gravity. The only element of the "Comfort & Convenience Package" that he's possibly interested in is the "Acoustic Laminated Privacy Glass". He's wondering whether this glass makes a significant or noticeable difference in the quietness of the vehicle. Has anyone perhaps driven Gravities with and without this glass to be able to comment on the quietness difference? Or, does anyone else have any useful information on the topic to help him render a decision?

I guess if you live in warm climate you won't care about heated steering wheel or rear seats, and I agree the rear side window curtains are frivilouus, but don't know the benefits of active air filtration.

All I can tell you is that our Gravities (with acoustic double glazing) are significantly quieter even than our Lucid Air, which is itself a relatively quiet car. We can barely hear passing traffic even at interstate speeds, and wind noise is virtually absent. About the only noise that enters the cabin is relatively well-controlled tire noise which is transmitted more through the chassis than the glass.

Yeah I don’t have a non-laminated Gravity to compare it to, but the Gravity is basically silent. It’s occasionally eerie.
 
Can't compare it to the non-laminated much as I only test drove one without it once but I will say we were at the coast here in La Jolla, CA last week and couldn't hear the waves until we opened the windows (and it was a pretty choppy/high surf night). I've been very impressed with how quiet the Gravity is.
 
I have driven both, the loaner did not have the "Acoustic Laminated Privacy Glass." I live in SoCal and I noticed the difference with the heat from the sun. Add the heated steering wheel for those occasional cold mornings here in SoCal and the extra $2,900 was worth it for me

Same... I can't compare to non-laminated, but I'd think it makes a difference given how quiet it's inside the vehicle and how well it mitigates sunlight

I don't hear it inside the car at all.
 
Doesn't matter...just get the option as the cost is going to spread out over cost of owning it for several years....this is true of all options not just the glass obviously...but I'm glad I went fully loaded and don't have to think what if scenarios after purchasing
 
Currently there are two features that aren’t pulling their weight at all, the tech package HUD and the DD Pro. Everything else seems to add good useable value, in my opinion.

Personally I think it’s just the HUD, as I’ve been using both the outlets and DD Pro for his entire road trip with no failures, but the HUD I just have turned off at this point.

Not because it “sucks,” but because it’s redundant. Once it has useful features that aren’t just redundant, I’ll turn it back on.

I would not skip out on DDPro. It's key features are not available yet, but you're going to be kicking yourself for not getting it once they roll out. While timelines are absolutely subject to change, they said they'd roll out point-to-point driving by the end of this year, meaning you put in an address and the car drives you the whole way there (with your supervision).

It’s not obvious to me what DD Pro can do today that DD Premium can’t. Staying in a single lane and not hitting the car in front, adding a smidge of side space? Doing an initiated lane change?

I got the Pro and just not feeling a huge benefit at this time.
 
DDP can’t compare to Tesla FSD and is in early stages at this point. However, it’s very usable for lane keeping, reducing driver fatigue for commutes and road trips. I use it every trip. Enjoy the 1/2 full glass - it’s better than an empty glass. Hopefully, OTA updates will gradually fill that glass.

As for DDP vs premium, the difference is in the number of physical sensors. I want all the sensors for maximum capability for future updates.

The HUD does have its issues, as well, with my biggest gripe being the calibration is a bit off. I’m at the edge of focus with my head straight, while tilting my head about 10 degrees to the left seems to be the focus sweet spot. However, I’ve grown used to its quirks and find it useful. I use the HUD and rarely look at the dash. With navigation on, I especially like the countdown (feet) to turns and exits being right where I need it. It makes navigating tricky intersections much easier.

I can’t use my polarized sunglasses with the HUD. However, that’s a problem with HUD’s in every car, although some have reported that the newer Porsche models offset the angle so that polarized sunglasses only dim the HUD instead of completely blanking it out. I wish every HUD manufacturer would take polarized sunglasses into account and offset the HUD polarization angle.
 
Anecdotally I’ve been in South Florida for the better part of the last two weeks. Our rental behemoth (a ford expedition) had heated seats and steering wheels and I definitely used it! In addition to those you also get the soft close doors. I’d say cerebrally you may decide you don’t need it but will appreciate it when you do have it!

Today, not much. In the future, handsfree (as already exists on the Air), traffic light detection, remote automatic parking, line based park in/out, automatic diagonal parking, and other future features.

There's two places to see similar charts. Those screenshots are if you go to the compare vehicles page and click the i symbol next to Dream Drive 2.
There's a similar comparison if you go to the configure a Gravity page and click the i symbol in the DD options section too.
