We had initially ordered two Gravity Dream Editions. Now, due to one of them being wrecked, we just took delivery of a third one. These cars were built at almost exactly three-month intervals, with deliveries on June 30, September 29, and December 24.

So, are there signs that early production and software issues are receding?

On first blush I would say yes. Our first Gravity was plagued with hardware and software issues that had it in the shop more than five weeks in the first three months: rear drive unit failure (on an out-of-state trip), HUD replaced due to distorted screen, navigation and GPS systems not functioning, second-row seat squeaking, steering wheel soon to be replaced, wheel well trim misalignment -- and software issues too numerous to recount here.

The second Gravity had no significant hardware issues in the eight weeks it was on the road. It was, however, beset with a host of software issues, some the same as and some different from the ones we were having simultaneously with the first Gravity.

The third Gravity arrived with even better trim alignment than the second and with no detectable hardware issues as of yet. There was, however, a tiny paint chip on the rear hatch just above the left side of the rear lights.
Unlike the earlier two cars, all its software features programmed without a hitch. Even the halo security / dash cam feature functioned right off the bat. And its Homelink geofences the same as our Air -- something the first Gravity still does not do despite all software updates.

However, we've already noticed one software issue that it shares with the first two cars: HUD brightness doesn't respond to the slider bar.

I'd like to say that software glitches are fading out on our first Gravity as updates continue. Some have disappeared, but new ones continue to crop up. Since the 3.3.2 update we have had both NACS and CCS charging difficulties, the driver seat went spontaneously into full recline, and yesterday the car mysteriously lowered the charge limit to 50% from the 80% we had set. Accent lighting still won't return to the brightness setting we chose without first turning the lighting off altogether. One of the driver profiles became corrupted. Other software features randomly disengage without notice or warning. Homelink still won't geofence.

It's going to be several weeks before we put the newest Gravity on the road to any extent, as the PPF wrap won't start until January 5. But Day One got off to the best start we've seen yet with a new Gravity.

Finally, a note on exterior color. Our second Gravity was black, and the newest one is white. The black one was beautiful after a wash and hid light dust pretty well. But once the first fingers and hands touched anything, the gig was up. Today, as we were photographing the white one in bright sun, it looked as if it had just been washed and spit shined. To our surprise, when we cleaned the windows the cloth picked up quite a bit of fine, black road film. That same film was on the car paint but could hardly be detected even upon a closer look.

Also, as beautiful as the black car was, it had a rather featureless, hulking look. The car's contours stand out more on the white car and, somewhat to our surprise, we both like the white one's overall looks better. (FWIW, I've had both black and white cars over the years and have never been able to decide which I like better generally as a car color. It really depends on the particular car.)

There’s some features in the Air that 4 years later still don’t work, it feels abandoned. Hopefully that doesn’t happen with the Gravity.

Uh, like what? There is nothing we were promised that Air doesn’t have or doesn’t work right for me other than V2H, as I see it.

Well, there is one relatively minor hitch that has developed with our Air. The navigation map on the Pilot Screen will no longer retain the "North Up" orientation I prefer. Every time we start the car it reverts to direction of travel. And just hitting the "North Up" button does not restore that setting. I have to cycle through the 3D and 2D settings before it will take the "North Up" setting.

But as these things go, I would now call the Air software pretty well dialed in . . . except that it won't play music if one of our other Lucids is on the road at the same time. And Lucid refused my request to put the third Lucid on a different account to see if that resolved the problem, which some on the forum suspect may be the culprit.

Seat and wheel preconditioning, creep, map send location (this did used to work), I’ll have to read the manual for any other ones

What’s wrong with creep? Or seat and steering wheel preconditioning?

(I’m not trying to be obtuse; these just work fine for me and I’m wondering if it’s “your car” or a wider underlying gremlin)

I thought there was a button to turn on seat and wheel according to the climate you set? That used to work, anyway. Haven’t used it in ages.

I don't know enough about software to know if it's usual for bugs to affect one vehicle but not another identical model running the same software.

For instance, Homelink geofencing works in our new Gravity but not in our older Gravity. They're both Dream Editiions with all the same options and the same version of the software. We also have the same user settings in both cars. Our older Gravity would accept Homellink programming only from the passenger side of the front bumper, contrary to the on-screen instructions to use the driver side. But the newer Gravity would accept programming only from the driver side. (I found this out when I tried to program the new Gravity from the passenger side first, as our mobile tech did with the older car.)

So is this a problem with the software or with the hardware in the older car? Same thing with Halo Secure, which is working in the new car but quit working in the older car some time ago. And there may be other differences I won't uncover until I have the newer one on the road more.

It's frustrating enough to try to figure out why something is not working in one Gravity. It's worse when two identical cars are behaving differently. It's got me wondering if this is why almost every software update we receive introduces new problems that some see and some don't.

I do think they're getting better. My Gravity has been very good so far with only a couple very minor software bugs. Many of the things people have been having problems with haven't happened to ours at all (either software or hardware/build quality problems).

The only thing I've noticed that I feel is a little off is they seem to have added a strip of flocking to the front edge of the HUD that I don't remember seeing on the demo model or in other people's pictures and it looks a little bit like a makeshift addition. I assume it's there because of reflections and it was peeling off on one corner but I was able to push it back in place and it's seemed fine since. (you can see it in the top part of the HUD in the attached picture.

These are the only two options? Interesting.

Has your music glitches while driving both vehicles still there?

So far, although we haven't had the newest Gravity on the road while another Lucid was at the same time.

Seat and steering wheel do not precondition with the car. Ever. Creep requires a tap and only works one time.

It does not remember the setting though.
…it does for me? Can you take a video of what you’re talking about so we can make sure we’re on the same page?

Mine remembers the setting to keep the seat/steering wheel temps linked to the climate so far.

That’s been on mine since I took delivery over 6 months ago.

Ah, ok. I don't remember seeing it on other ones so I thought it might be new.

Mine definitely does NOT have that on it....which is odd because we took delivery of ours around the same time and my DE number is 82.
