Gravity Bugs / Issues

Where do you buy the membership, on the Tesla app? Or the Lucid app? This would be good to set up before embarking on my next road trip. Thanks

At 209 pages and counting, I am pretty sure these items have been brought up before.

I took delivery of my Gravity GT yesterday afternoon. I was very excited! After taking delivery I drove my car five miles away for PPF, tinting and ceramic coating. During my all too short first drive, I noticed a rattle emanating from the instrument binnacle. I duly reported this just this morning.

The other thing I noticed is how slightly blurry the HUD was. I could have developed a mild headache if I had insisted on peering directly at the HUD for more than a few seconds. I also noticed that I couldn't move the projected image as low in my field of view as I prefer, when looking directly forward. What I was hoping for was for Lucid's HUD to be every bit the equal in clarity as that in the GMC Yukon I rented last fall.

Has anything been done to address the blurriness of the HUD image, and the apparent lack of flexibility as far as image projection placement is concerned?

I’ve got this issue as well and Lucid couldn’t find it. It’s not extremely loud but enough to be annoying and typically only happens at high speeds.

The HUD is a bit of a disaster. One drive it’s clear another drive it can be blurry. It’s horrible at light detection so constantly adjusts brightness. I’ve never experienced a HUD where the slightest movement of your head causes double vision on it. As far as the blue ovals showing up, “deal with it” is basically the message I got from Lucid. Compared to HUD’s I’ve had on other vehicles this is by far the worst.

I wonder if there's some hardware revision at play because even though I was worried about these kinds of things with the HUD (which is why I hadn't originally gone for the tech package) I haven't had any of the blurriness, unevenness or blue ovals you and others have seen at all.

The only issue I've seen with it so far is one time the "MPH" under the current speed was cut in half on startup but it fixed itself quickly.

It’s not consistent. The blue ovals typically come up when it’s bright and sunny outside. I know people who’ve raised it with Lucid and we’ve all been told it’s normal so I don’t think there’s new hardware or they’d be replacing it upon complaint. Given we’re in the gloomier months it’s less likely they’re going to show up now.

The blurriness is random and doesn’t happen to me a lot but I can see for people who are sensitive to that sort of thing how it could give them a headache. When it has happened to me, I’ve just turned it off and then turn it back on when in the car next.

The blue oval is obviously a reflection of the HUD bowled/curved display - probably outer plastic. You can get a sense of what it is by moving your head back and forth and see it increase and decrease in size. Once you do this you understand what is going on. This is currently a hardware limitation and maybe Lucid could do something about it with ant-reflective coatings. But that is the least of the problems with the HUD.

I have only seen the blue oval a couple times and all were when I leaned forward to reach something on right side of clear cockpit. I am 5’ 10” and have never seen it while normal driving. I think that if you tend to sit low and close to dash, you are more likely to see the blue oval.

Same for me. Works ok, probably a function of my height and sitting position. But totally not worth paying for it. I did get the tech package because there was no way I'd miss the chance to experience the self-reverting Vibes colors :)

I've had a long list of minor issues I've asked our SC to get us in for, but they just totally dropped the ball and stopped responding. Since they never fixed the 2nd row slide covers, now the left 2nd row seats are jammed and have limited motion. I irately called Customer Care and the local SC manager and said they needed to fix the 15+ things on my list and get it all working like a new vehicle should have before we leave on a long road trip at the end of the month. They called back and are scheduling us in next week as soon as the loaner Gravity is back.

I'm willing to put up with a lot for a new vehicle, and expect a lot of challenges, but the level of service is so far below what I'd even expect for a used Honda sold out of a second-hand garage. Nothing about my interactions with Lucid suggest this is a company that can be trusted to deliver quality. At this point, I want weekly personal calls on every single issue and when it will be fixed, I am so disappointed with every aspect of the ownership experience beyond the actual driving. It's infuriating.

I hate being a jerk about this -- none of these have been showstoppers until now -- but this is completely unacceptable service for a 140k+ vehicle. They're speed-running the Tesla game of rushing out vehicles with fundamental manufacturing failures and not hiring out service to meet demand. I've stopped recommending Lucid to people who aren't software engineers used to nothing working and service not answering the phone. :-(

Where we're at after a June 30 delivery and no service visits:
Hardware:
  1. 2nd row left slide cover unsecured, reveals mechanism when moved -- now jammed and does not fully move
  2. Drive Assist non-functional the past week -- no errors, just never available even after reset
  3. Parking surround view front camera doesn't match lines across cameras. Is expected behavior or does the camera needs calibration?
  4. Homelink non-functional (displays QR code for hardware module purchase)
  5. 2nd key fob on due bill
  6. Wheel/lug cap kit -- no present, expected as part of DE package?
  7. Check frunk catch alignment -- occasionally does not release on first try; verify alignment
  8. Trunk spoiler panel slightly below trim, weird overall alignment -- confirm as intended
  9. Rear brake light lens not secured at ends, misaligned on left side
  10. Two loose screws in front passenger map pocket -- probably from shipping, confirm they don't go somewhere important
  11. Window gasket bubbles -- most window/door gaskets bubble out at the corners rather than following curve of window/door
  12. 2nd row powered screen cover not flush: interior upholstery on door at powered screen cover in 2nd row is wavy and doesn't meet evenly with cover. (More visible on right side.)
  13. 2nd row intermittent squeaks and creaks -- review common causes (e.g. bolt torque, slide lubrication)
  14. 2nd row left door accent LED strip missing color channel (?) -- when setting a Lucid Vibes color, the 2nd left door color is not quite the same
  15. 3rd row right seat catches metal lift gate trim and pulls it free from attachments -- trim needs to be properly secured and adjustments if possible
  16. 3rd row right seat loose upholstery clip -- under the left side of the seat there's a clip with no obvious place to secure
Software (we think):
  1. Massaging seats sometimes stop working after a period of time (haven't been able to categorize better than "sometimes", sorry)
  2. In version 3.3.9: intermittent long boot time from blank screens on entering vehicle (increased in 3.3.9 -- now almost every entry)
  3. Continues in 3.3.9: intermittent spurious warnings about Stability Control, Regenerative Braking, Charge Level, Wireless Charging that disappear immediately after vehicle sleep
  4. In 3.3.9: HVAC fans on full blast regardless of settings after vehicle sleep/reboot
  5. In 3.3.9: Lucid Vibes accent light color resets to white (after reboot?) regardless of preference settings
  6. In 3.3.9: Random choice of units. 2nd row display stuck in Centrigrade. Generally inconsistent HVAC UI behavior -- missing buttons, incorrectly dimmed out, etc.
  7. I still cannot access a referral link on the website or app. This seems to be an issue for all Gravity owners who don't also own an Air.
Questions / Suggestions:
  1. The HERE map data is *awful*. It thinks there is a turn restriction so it won't route a right turn onto the street where I live. I fixed this on the HERE Map Creator at least a month ago. How long for these updates to reach the vehicle? [This might be fixed now after 4 months -- still need guidance.]
  2. Please make it possible to raise ride height with doors open. We got in the vehicle last week and it was not possible to close the passenger door because the passenger weight lowered the height and wedged the door against the sidewalk. We had to unload the vehicle to fix this.
I realize this is all rather minor to what others have reported, and also that I've probably been "too reasonable" about the whole affair -- I was fine pushing things off until there was a backlog of service bulletins and known repairs so we wouldn't be in service too long -- but it's also Lucid's responsibility to say "no, we're going to fix all of these problems in the least disruptive way we can". If they can't sort out the issues with the Gravity, they're going to completely fail in the Mid-Range where they will not be able to afford regular service calls on a large fleet.
OK! I just had a very satisfying service experience, and most of these issues are resolved. A lot of these were probably early unit assembly issues, which I hope are mostly improved in volume production. Car was picked up on the 16th, the work order has an "open date" of he 18th, and I retrieved it today (the 23rd). (I didn't ask them to deliver it since they're clearly in an EOY/EOQ push and very busy.) At the Natick shop I heard they were delivering up to 10 Gravity per day!

Not listed, the service manager noted that the HUD looked misaligned, but right now there's like one guy in the region who has the tool necessary to change this. I said this was fine to push off until there's a major functional update, since I'm guessing that will require some different service campaign.

On my wheel/lug cap question, I was told that the lug cap set is only included with the DE on 22/23 wheels. (I think there was inconsistent messaging on the forums earlier in the year, but if this is the official line I'm not going to demand differently.)

Overall I was very happy with the time-in-service and the professionalism of the service center. I'm only frustrated that Lucid isn't more proactive about fixing known issues. Several of the below note logged error codes -- while I don't want endless alert pop-ups, I feel like these should be going to Lucid and they should be calling to let me know the problem and the schedule service. The DreamDrive/steering wheel issue falls in this category, but so does my surprisingly complex LED lighting issue.

First, things that were not on my list:
Concern: The High Voltage (HV) battery assembly may be missing a label.
Cause: The CE/Hazardous Material identification label was omitted during the HV battery assembly or handling process.
Corrections: Inspected High Voltage battery for CE/Hazardous Material identification label. Label not present, installed CE/Hazardous Material identification label for BT10 battery.

Concern: The customer may experience reduced power.
Cause: The driver’s side hush panel may interfere with the brake pedal, preventing it from fully returning to its resting position. This can result in the brake system remaining partially engaged, leading to a reduction in power.
Corrections: Removed drivers side hush panel and performed rework procedure.

Concern: Perform TSC-N0925-008 Rear Door Rattle Noise - Sunblind.
Cause: A rattle noise may be present from the rear doors when closing the door.
Corrections: Removed both rear door panels and installed foam patch between door body and sunblind mechanisms.

Now, to my list:
Concern: Client states 2nd row left slide cover unsecured, reveals mechanism when moved -- now jammed and does not fully move (see video previously sent of zip tie). This whole mechanism is surprisingly loud, but that seems to be common across all Gravity so I believe is as-designed.
Cause: LH 2nd row seat track middle panel not hooked onto to bottom panel
Corrections: Confirmed LH 2nd row seat track middle panel not hooked onto to bottom panel. Reseated panel on repair for line 14

Concern: Client states that the drive assist completely unavailable the past 2 weeks, no errors present just will not activate.
Cause: Steering wheel hands off detection module not communicating
Corrections: Connected vehicle to LDS and saved report. Inspected report for Hands off detection ECU serial numbers and found Hands off detection module is not communicating. Replaced steering wheel and inspected hands off detection module serial numbers and found numbers are now populated and hands off detection module is now communicating properly. Vehicle is now operating as designed.

Concern: Client states that the parking surround view front camera doesn't match lines across cameras. Please check.
Cause: Normal operation at this time
Corrections: Inspected surround view camera image and found slight distortion where images are stitched together. Performed surround view calibration and inspected image and found no change in image display. Compare image to other vehicles and found image is the same. Inform customer no hardware changes will remedy at this time.

Concern: Client states that the Homelink is non-functional (displays QR code for hardware module purchase). Please check.
Cause: Vehicle missing Homelink configuration software HLA01
Corrections: Confirmed vehicle is showing QR code in homelink menu. Inspected fascia for homelink module and found homelink module installed.Inspected software configuration and found HLA00, Homelink requires HLA01. Performed OTA update configuring vehicle for HLA01. Vehicle homelink is now operating as designed.

Concern: Please provide second key fob for Dream Edition; see due bill.
Cause: Please provide second key fob for Dream Edition; see due bill.
Corrections: Programmed additional key fob for dream owner. Performed gravity key fob firmware update v2.

Concern: Client states that the frunk occasionally does not open on first attempt; please check alignment.
Cause: Hood bump stops not adjusted properly
Corrections: Confirmed frunk does not open on first attempt. Inspected position of hood bump stops and found not adjusted properly. Adjusted bump stops to prevent frunk from catching when opening. Tested operation of frunk and found frunk now operates as designed.
[Note: This is a lot better, but I don't think it's completely fixed. It's also not a big priority for me.]

Concern: Trunk spoiler panel slightly below trim, check overall alignment -- confirm as intended
Cause: Rear spoiler out of adjustment
Corrections: Confirmed rear spoiler sitting slightly low. Performed adjustment to rear spoiler panel bringing into alignment with left and right edges.

Concern: Client states that the rear brake light lens not secured at ends, misaligned on left side.
Cause: Liftgate panel not adjusted properly
Corrections: Confirmed liftgate panel on edge of rear light bar is misaligned. Loosened liftgate panel mounting hardware and adjusted panel to sit flush with lower liftgate panel and refastened hardware. Rear liftgate panel now aligns with lower panel.
[Note: I miscommuncated this -- I thought the piece of concern was part of the lens, but having had a platinum trim loaner it's a trim piece that sits below the lens. If you gently push it on the right side it's still had a surprising range of motion. This was also the case on the loaner, as well as several other Gravity at the shop. For now we're going to consider that "within spec" but I think there should be an improvement made.]

Concern: Client states that most window/door gaskets bubble out at the corners rather than following curve of window/door. Please check.
Cause: Operating as designed
Corrections: Inspected many gravity vehicles and confirmed this condition is normal across all gravity vehicles. Replacement of part will not remedy. No action necessary.
[Note: This is the only thing I'm not super happy about, but this seems to be the case on every Gravity I've seen and so it is within spec for the time being. I hope in the future there is a part rev that has window gasket molded better to the shape of the opening. I agree there was nothing for service to do at this point.]

Concern: 2nd row powered screen cover not flush: interior upholstery on door at powered screen cover in 2nd row is wavy and doesn't meet evenly with cover. (More visible on right side.)
Cause: Passenger rear door panel not seated properly
Corrections: Confirmed passenger rear door panel gap to sunblind is abnormal. Removed door panel and adjusted positioning on sunblind mechanism. Door panel now sits flush.

Concern: 2nd row intermittent squeaks and creaks -- review common causes (e.g. bolt torque, slide lubrication)
Cause: A potential noise condition may originate from the 2nd row seat or its attached components.
Corrections: Confirmed 2nd row seat squeak noise. Performed TSB-N1025-005-01. Performed rework procedure for 2nd Row Seat Inner Rail Covers, 2nd Row Seat Cushion Structure, and 2nd Row Seat Rear Rail Covers. Performed test drive, noise no longer present

Concern: 2nd row left door accent LED strip missing color channel-- when setting a Lucid Vibes color, the 2nd left door color is not quite the same as the others. Please check.
Cause: Interior NFC reader sliding tray internal electronic failure for LIN4 cupholder lights
Corrections: Inspected ambient lighting and confirmed drivers rear door ambient lighting is slightly different hue from other lights. Inspected all ambient lighting and found center console lights are not illuminated. Connected vehicle to LDS and found fault codes for left rear door pocket light and left rear footwell light missing message. Performed interior light addressing routine and found no changes. Gained access to connector 520 and performed voltage measurement at pin 12 for cup holder light power and found 13.8v. Utilizing picoscope tested LIN at connector 520 pin 14 for cup holder light LIN and found proper waveform. This indicates an issue further in the circuit in the center console. Removed center console and replaced interior NFC reader sliding tray, which includes cupholder lights. Reassembled vehicle and performed interior light addressing. Ambient lighting now illuminating properly at all ambient lights including cupholders and left rear door. Performed node position coding and OTA software update. Vehicle is now operating as designed.

Concern: 3rd row right seat catches metal lift gate trim and pulls it free from attachments -- trim needs to be properly secured and seat mechanism adjustments to prevent this from always catching
Cause: RH 3rd row seat crooked causing seat to catch on sill plate
Corrections: Confirmed RH 3rd row seat catches on sill plate when placing in upright position. Adjusted 3rd row seat to prevent seat from catching on sill plate. RH 3rd row seat is now operating as designed.

Concern: 3rd row right seat loose upholstery clip -- under the left side of the seat there's a clip with no obvious place to secure.
Cause: LH 3rd row seat upholstery hook not secured
Corrections: Confirmed LH 3rd row seat upholstery hook not secured. Re-secured upholstery hook on seat frame.

I have 21/22’s and the car came with the lug cap set. I’m still waiting on the correct wheel covers which have the bear logo in them (currently have Lucid logo). Was told they should be available early next year.

Worth noting too that you have to start the charging session in the Tesla app to get the discount. Not Plug&Charge. If you let Plug&Charge grab the session first, the Lucid wallet pays for it (no discount). The Tesla wallet has to pay for it to get the discount. So either start the session in the Tesla app before plugging in, or turn off Plug&Charge.

Same for me. Works ok, probably a function of my height and sitting position. But totally not worth paying for it. I did get the tech package because there was no way I'd miss the chance to experience the self-reverting Vibes colors :)
Yes, that's another big issue with the HUD for me -- it has a very small focal point where you can see it, and that area is too low for me (not where it sits vs the road, but where your eyes are to be able to actually see it). I like to sit high in the car. Where my head is, the HUD is 50% faded out. I have to crouch down to see it in full brightness (which is insufficiently bright to begin with).

1. It needs to be adjusted so it's horizontal, not tilted.
2. It needs a larger focal point to be seen from a wider area (especially sitting high).
3. It needs the ability to go way brighter, to be visible with sunglasses.

Can't believe they let this thing go out in such piss-poor shape. Worst HUD I've even experienced in a car. Whether it's a software fix or needs better hardware, either way it needs addressing by Lucid.

Just tried to close my tailgate. Wouldn't go down pressing the button. Tried twice. Then manually pushed it down most of the way and heard something rolling around into the door. Manually pushed the door back open, heard something loose still. Then hit the button to close and it works again. Opened/closed twice, works, no noise inside. So, maybe it's OK? Lord knows.

Another day, another concerning quirk. It's like the car was assembled by a high school vo-tech class.

Drives great tho.

Thanks for that exhaustive list.

And I hate to say it, but if someone is on the bubble and hasn't ordered yet, I don't know how one could not seriously consider waiting for Lucid to sort some of these hardware and build issues out.

Was this a DE? if so some of that likely has already been addressed.

I’ve had my car in twice to fix the squeak and it’s now got to go back for a 3rd time to address. 1st visit they said they fixed it and within 5 mins of leaving it was back. 2nd time they couldn’t reproduce so didn’t do anything so now will be booking it back in January sometime.

Some days I want to rip the 2nd row out and throw the whole thing on the street! Nothing irks me more than squeaks and rattles.

Just took delivery yesterday. Mine is doing this too. PITA to have to manually change it to CREEP every time I get in the car (I hate HOLD).

Is this normal, or just a bug in some cars?

Also the driver-side mirror won't tilt down in reverse. Passenger-side does tho.

SXM streaming sure skips a lot. Maybe every 3rd song or so.

Directing air to the dash for defrost makes an annoying whistling sound. Then I can't get it to stop by just redirecting the flow. Gotta turn climate off entirely then back on to get it to stop.

I have 3.3.20.
Does creep work as expected in the Gravity? In the Air, it still brake holds, you have to tap the accelerator, get a warning it’s in creep mode, then it creeps kinda janky, only one time, then never again. It’s not at all like creep is supposed to be were it simulates an automatic transmission.

At this point I don’t even know if it’s the motors or something in the seats themselves. Coordinating with Lucid to come out in the new year to go on a drive with me. No point it going to the Service Center again and have them do nothing because they can’t replicate. Hopefully the dash will be rattling as well so they can figure out where that’s coming from as a video recording wasn’t enough.
