Lucid used car sales use this metric. We recognize that some customers have encountered challenges during the lease return process, and we want to assure you that we are actively working to improve this experience, ensuring it reflects the same level of excellence you expect from our vehicles.
Details on returning your leased Lucid, including our excess wear and use guidelines can be found at: https://lucidmotors.com/knowledge/ownership/financial-services/vehicle-lease-end
If you believe any of your lease terminations charges were assessed in error, please call (833) 423-0369 to discuss.
Thank you for your understanding as we continue to improve the overall leasing experience.
Every company does the same….only if they have to will they give away money……only if they have to will they give discounts….duhLucid is no different than any other company out there. They won't change anything unless they have to. And only financial pressure does it, in this case, via bad publicity.
This should be in the stew for a remake of lease return rules.I’m not defending them, but we don’t actually know this. The chances of someone who had just a $450 bill showing up here and letting us know “everything was fine” are much, much, lower than us hearing about bills that went bad.
How consistently BoA has been applying this is not something we actually know.
I hear the rest of what you’re saying; it’s just this point I’m unconvinced of.
throw this Lucid used car sales metric into the discussion of typical wear.Hi all. I was a happy lessee of a 2023 Lucid Air Grand Touring. Great car. I just turned it in last week, after a short 18 month lease. Today I received my lease end bill. Curious what the crowd here thinks of these Lease Turn in fees... I've leased many luxury cars, and this is the first time I have seen what I would call petty / minor wear listed as Excessive Wear and Tear. Perhaps I need to adjust my expectations going forward?
First we have the windshield, which apparently has 3 very small chips from rocks. See three images attached of the "Excessive Wear and Tear" on the windshield. The charge $1,450. I have full glass coverage and if the windshield was truly cracked or damaged my insurance replacement would have been free. I am not sure though that anyone would call this true damage that merits either repair or replacement?
Then there are two photos of what looks like the passenger sun visor - "Left interior Qtr Trim Broken", for $375. I honestly don't even see what they are trying to show in the photos.
Total bill for Excessive Wear and Tear: $1,825.
I've asked for someone from Lucid to call me back and explain these charges to me. When I turned the car in, none of these were pointed out. I was not given an opportunity to remedy them. And honestly. IMO these seem very petty.
I doubt I will have any recourse, other than to pay their bill. I will update this thread with the final outcome once I hear back.
I read that too. I hope they have not reverted to the old ways. The guy needs to straighten this up with Lucid. Everything reads so stupid to be really true. The “inspector” had no clueUnfortunately, it appears that the process is not going as smoothly as hoped (not my car). $3700 more than the pre-inspection report and some really rough treatment.
Here's what I would do:I appologize in advance if this has been mentioned somewhere in the thread, but is there a best-practice to return the lease? Like a pre-inspection, taking pics, etc. Thank you!.
We just returned our 23 Air Touring (without pre-inspection) on the same day (12/31/25) we picked up a new Air lease. Our 23 AT had the normal wear and tear characteristics (scraped front under carriage/skid plate, minor rim rash on 2 wheels, tiny windshield chips). We turned in our leased Model X early last month to get the Gravity. For all the Tesla bashing I have done, I will say that the damages they charged us were completely fair - this on now two leased vehicles being returned to them.
And, if you're buying or leasing another Tesla, they give you $500 in wear and tear credits. Which I used on the first return to keep the mobile charger unit supplied with the vehicle, plus some curb-rashed wheels. On the latest X, we had damaged a few pieces of plastic trim which Tesla Collision said would cost $2500+ to repair, which seemed way out of line to me. And sure enough, the lease return charge was only about $300.
Lucid should do the wear and tear credit thing for lease returns to new leases. Screwing previous customers is about the worst thing a company can do, especially considering customer acquisition costs.
Updating here:Just got this yesterday and was very excited to see them move on this, including a revision of previous charges.
One thing I noted quickly reading the updated wear and tear guidelines is that they added rim scrapes over 3.5''. This was not there before IIRC. This is the one that caused the $3000 bill for me. I hope it gets corrected.
The problems were real - it just takes time to figure things out sometimes. I’m glad they’re gone. After all the agita over the past year, I got my final lease inspection bill, which matched my estimated bill, and it was $0 (and only took 3 days). There were definitely some things that would (wrongfully) have been big bills a year ago. Kudos to Lucid for following through on their policy change and doing right by their lease customers! Overall, a super smooth lease return experience (although I forgot to turn in my plates within 5 days, so I'm waiting for my license suspension).
Going to miss driving a Lucid and being part of this community. I may check out a Gravity when my wife's Solterra lease is up next year. Guess I'm a glutton for unreliable vehicle punishment
Will be posting a set of winter wheels/tires, some floor mats, and the Lucid tire inflator/patch kit in the coming days.
Thanks, @borski , for keeping me in line during my days of excessive lease wear and tear complaining.
