ADIOS LUCID: I really hate to make this post but after only two months of ownership, my '23 Lucid AT is gone.

I've had zero problems with mine or with local service. Just thought I'd make a peep from the 90+% of people who are perfectly happy.

My lease is up in Feb and I'm not getting another Lucid. Best driving car I ever had, but also the most frustrating experience, and I'm too old for this. I had 3 acquaintances so far asking if they should get one, I recommended against it. Imagine that at scale. I'm at the point where for short drives I would rather drive any of my other cars, for the simple-stupid reason that they work every single time. I know, ridiculous expectations.

Not going to give them my phone, and the wallet card is fussy and needs the code.
You do not need the code for the card. Just tap the card on the microphone (the weird flux capacitor thing) in the middle of the car behind the driver’s right ear.

I'm afraid of what would happen at 88mph if I do that...😂

But seriously, I have the key fob in a Faraday bag in the center console and I carry the card key in my wallet. The key fob is for vallet/service, the card key is a back up (never been used) but my phone is all I ever use.

I'm at month two, and there's been something wrong with it most of the time, but its mostly cosmetic. I do have some concerns about future service, however, its a lease so I am somewhat protected in that if things don't get better, I can just give it back. Short of something that costs twice as much, I don't see anything better out there.

Thanks for that info.

I'll have to try that. It would be very cool if it works.
The fob is so consistently reliable ... perhaps the most consistently reliable thing in my life.

I hate my phone. Hate it. I often leave it at home. People know they can never get in touch with me and I love that. My favorite literary character is Major Major Major Major.

LOL

You got me Borski. Nice one.

I was able to get inside the car by holding the wallet card over the camera. Then the car went completely dark, and holding the card over the flux capacitor just set off the alarm. Lucid has so many ways to make the owner look ridiculous.

Some day I hope to see a post that tells me how to disable all the locks permanently.

Bobby?

411 is EPA range. This is standard across the industry. In order to achieve EPA range you should recreate the EPA test environment on your drive. This isn’t unique to Lucid and is true for all EVs or for that matter all vehicles. If you put your destination into the NAV it will show actual range and suggested charging locations.
Nonetheless, I think the critique is valid. Lucid knows perfectly well that the EPA is not what most drivers will get. Default range suggestions should be based on actual driver data, not the artificial EPA test. One should have to go digging into the UI to find your EPA based range estimate, and not have it be part of a default display.

Post like this make me think……me me me, why post? Why the need to rub this into other Lucid owners faces? Who cares if you bought or sold the stock. So you depreciated 5k, other new car buyers lost 50k, so what?

Go live your life, no need to go around forums posting about your life…..give me a break!
I think the post is perfectly reasonable. Helpful even, to inform potential buyers. I think it's true that internet forums tend to attract people with complaints more than they do happy customers. But even so, it's still a useful perspective for someone like me who is trying to decide whether I should buy a Lucid or not.

Yeah, but you don’t say “ I sold the stock” or you lost 50k while I lost 5k, that’s us pretty shitty comment.

It's less Lucid's fault and more of the EPA/industry as a whole and the gaming of the data. Why would Lucid handicap themselves by advertising a "real" range when Tesla can tout 300+ miles when in real world they are seeing close to 200s? I agree that it's not right, but I don't fault Lucid for doing it.

I literally just tried it. It works fine. I just handed my card to a valet two days ago and they used it fine, without my pin, once I told them to tap it on that spot. 🤷‍♂️

Sometimes it takes tapping it twice. But it does work.

By this logic; which should Lucid advertise? Someone who drive below the speed limit's range; someone who drive just right about it; or someone who doesn't care about the speed limit's ? I think this debate is useless. I never heard anyone complaining about their ICE car not doing the advertised mile/gallon.

OK now I've got to go to my garage later and try it.😂 Maybe Cosmo activated the flux capacitor and that's how it works in 2030😏

Perhaps I don't know what "tap" means.
I have never been able to "tap" any digital switch of any kind.

Like, when I tap my fingers on a desk it's a constant drumming that annoys people.
When I tap a keg of beir it's using a wooden mallet to pound a spigot into a bung hole.
When I "tap" my debit card on the thingie at the grocery store I have to hold the card over the "I can't hear you" icon until the screen asks me to enter my pin.
I can't get to Adaptive Cruise by tapping, or open/close the garage door, or get to any screen on the pilot panel.
I let my wife do it; she seems to know "tap" and "press". She laughs at me when I start pounding on the darned "switches".
My body does not do digital. My body does not do "tap".

Just give me a damned key and a slot. What is wrong with this? I even keep my cards in a Faraday sheath, as if that does anything...do they go to sleep in there? I used to be the guy who knew how to program a VCR to record a movie sometime in the future. Now all my clocks flash 12:00 .

Take my car, please. (apologies to Henny Youngman).

It did go very dark in the car when I put the card up there. I may have entered a wormhole. How long is a "tap" in spacetime? How many "taps" is a "tap" ? Do I leave the car door open or close it (the car locked me in and car alarm went off when I tired to open it)? How the F does a tow truck driver/ valet know how to do this and I, who have had the car over three years and read the owner's manual dozens of times, can't ? Can Bobby post a video of a "tap" ?

OK I'll try it again. Nobody's home to laugh at me. The car alarm is very loud in my garage. I hope I don't summon ICE and end up in a Somalian death camp...

OK got in the car OK. Closed the door. "taped" (like the OED definition) once on the flux capacitor, and got the "enter your pin" screen. Entered my pin and was able to back-out the car.

Seriously, would it not be easier just to give the valet my fob ?

Sorry to grouse, but I think it would be nice to have topics like fobs and key cards appear in a relevant thread rather than seeing this awful banner resurface ad nauseum...

Then stop replying to it. Ignore it. Trust me, someone will dig it up. Count on the good will of some dearly forum members. 👀😭🤣🤣🤣

Perhaps I don't know what "tap" means.
Perhaps... I know that my credit card (complete with its little symbol that it supports "tap & pay") has never worked at any "tap & pay" (it does work in the slot based readers though), no matter who does the "tapping".
I suspect in this case it may be that for "tap" one might try "hold up to for 'a bit'", just a SWAG (Scientific Wild A$$ Guess).

I am sick of seeing the "...Tesla does it better.." or "..I'm getting rid of my Lucid.." posts. They have to be Elon bots.

If they were real then why don't you just stick with Tesla? Is it because the Tesla / other car is not fun to drive ? Like, you would rather have a phone that would take you to the grocery store? Do you really hate to drive that much?

I love my Lucid and don't give a damn about m/kWh or how the wallet card works, or if it opens or closes instantly.

When I drive in sub-freezing temps or at 130+ mph I don't care at all about mi/kWh ... I have to pee way before the battery gets low.

When I'm going very fast in my Lucid it's because I have to pee, urgently. Some day, if you live long enough, you will understand.
