Is there a alternate to the Pirelli 21” that is specifically for EV’s?

Keep an eye on the weight ratings for the replacement tires. Lucid specs 99Y XL / 103Y XL for the OEM tires. The Michelin’s here are a little under rated from that.

Has anyone any experience with these on a GT? The Perellis are straight garbage. Only thin walled tire I’ve ever had that constantly gets welts. Puzzled why Lucid chose them.
We have nearly identical Pirelli tires on our pretty-heavy Volvo XC40 EV. I'm active in Volvo EV forums and haven't heard a single instance of a sidewall bubble. Could be a bad batch of the specific size used by the Air.

My last experience with Perelli’s was in my C55 AMG. 3 welted side walls in 6 months. Went to Continental and never happened again. It seems to only be an issue on thin walked Pirellis.

I saw a post here about a GT with the infamous side wall welt already. Hoping it’s an anomaly, but I’m already pricing in new tires into the equation. First welt and I’m changing all 4. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if it doesn’t happen.

The ratings you gave are for the 21" summer tires, and they are an "HL" load rating, not XL. I would like to know the difference in the HL vs. XL tires other that the difference in the numerical load rating, such as construction configuration. I have asked my DA about it, but he knows nothing and Lucid is not forthcoming on the info. What is interesting is that the 19" All season Pirelli OEM tires have a "XL" rating, so that means any tire with a similar rating can be substituted for the Pirellis.
I personally believe the Pirellis are OEM only because Lucid got a great deal on the tires, not because of quality. I agree that Pirellis are not good tires.

I’m with you on this. Regarding a future set of Michelins, they do offer an EV specific line of performance tires, with the foam inserts and high load ratings and low rolling resistance. They’re just not available in the Lucid sizes yet. My plan is to suffer through the Pirellis until the correct Michelins are available. Or I get a welt in a sidewall, whichever comes first.

Can resist, it's just too funny, especially if you watched this race and know he was P1 and the P-Zero blew out on the front straight and he crashed out.

I have a 2016 XC90 T8 that weighs in at about 6600 lbs. I have Pirelli Scorpion Verde 20" all season tires that have had no issues. Again, this is an SUV. When I purchased my vehicle, there were a choice of two different tires. While the road noise is significant in this vehicle, the Pirelli were actually quieter than the Continentals that we OEM.

Now... interestingly, there is a NOTICEABLE reduction in road noise when I switch to my winter tires (softer compound obviously) which are Michelin X-ice snow.

I have Michelin X-Ice snows for my Model S winter set and don’t like them at all. They feel… mooshy. They make a lot of noise. They are not good when it is warm but not warm enough for summer tires yet. I would not buy them again.

However I have pilot super sport 4s for my summer set, and I love them. I’ve previously owned pilot sport as4’s (the all season variant), and loved those too. In general I really like Michelin tires.

I’m expecting to get the pirelli 21” tires on my AGT, but wouldn’t be surprised if I end up using Michelin for my first replacement set. Michelins are the reference standard for the summer max performance category. It’s for a good reason.

Just out of curiosity, it appears that there is no such thing as a 21" all season tire-I guess this is because there's not enough "space" to make the tread thicker? I for one would certainly get the all season if they existed. Does anyone have any information regarding this?

No, I think the lot of us are going to swap to Michelin on the next set. I know I will be getting these pilot sport AS for the rainy season in SoCal (5days)
