My first impressions after 2 days with the Lucid Gravity Grand Touring

I imagine they’ll do a “Learning Series” on YouTube like they did for the Air. I found that very useful.

Hi, I'm a new Lucid Gravity GT owner, you may remember me from this introduction yesterday .

But first, a bit of background about me. My name is Artem Russakovskii and professionally, I've founded and spent over a decade running a popular Android news and reviews site (AndroidPolice.com, sold to Valnet in 2021) and I currently run APKMirror.com.

In general, if I feel passionate about a product, I tend to provide a lot of constructive feedback as well as deliver it directly to people who can fix it at the relevant companies (for example, Google with Android). If I do find an internal contact, I provide them with bug reports, video demonstrations, etc. in order to fix the issues, and I really hope I will eventually find someone like that at Lucid. Please reach out if you're an engineer on the Lucid team. I have a CS background and deal with development daily, meaning you will be dealing with a fairly technical person.

I'm most active on Twitter https://twitter.com/ArtemR.

With the intro out of the way, here are my Lucid Gravity Grand Touring initial impressions after the first 2 days with the car.

First, the Good:

- Quick (828 HP).
- Luxurious.
- Big battery and long range (rated up to 450 miles).
- Huge trunk. 120 cubic ft of total cargo space (5-seater) is insane. Tesla Model X 5-seater has like 92 cubic ft total.
- Huge frunk that you can even sit in because they removed the front wall. An optional $500 frunk seat accessory exists to make this even more comfortable, though that's entirely too much money for something I'll likely almost never use
- Native NACS (Tesla-style) charger, on the correct side (rear driver side, unlike Rivian and others)
- I really like how the Gravity looks, especially at night with the lights on. It's just gorgeous, inside and out.
- Sound isolation is top notch, much better than any Tesla models. When I sit inside with the windows closed, it's like I'm in a sound bubble.
- Beautiful dashboard and screens, albeit not as functional as Tesla's.
- Some physical buttons. For example, climate controls and volume.
- Great, smooth suspension, much much much better than Rivian's and smoother than Tesla Model X's.
- Autopilot-like Drive Assist functionality so much smoother than Tesla's. No jerking around, no slamming on the brakes in traffic.
- Folding tables in 2nd row, with charging ports. - Fold-flat 2nd and 3rd row seats (I opted out of 3rd row entirely).
- Motorized sun shades for rear windows.
- Massage, cooling, and heated front seats.

For some reason, the forum is throwing an error 500 when I try to post The Bad, and I can't figure out why. But I've also posted this to Reddit, so I will refer to this thread unless an admin can figure out what's causing the posting error .
Every bug will happen just expect it. Which is why I skipped the Gravity. I wanted the Gravity but I will probably wait for it to mature. Its such a hi tech car that it may take a year to fully mature. The Air took what? 2 years? I had a 24 Touring and now I have a 25 GT Air. I love the car. Some minor issues but we roadtrip our Air frequently.

I hope it will take less than a year to iron out the major bugs. I feel like the Gravity is an even more important release for Lucid than the Air and they will ramp up faster, plus the software team already has a good base, so they just need a couple of bug sprints.

I hope so too. Air just had significant updates recently. The Handsfree Drive assist has been working very well. Not FSD but i really dont care about it. I need help with highway driving after a long shift at work and it gets me home safely.

Possibly, but the Gravity is more feature rich

It doesn't appear to be in the manual. Very odd spot to put the close button and very odd to put using the app as the first option to close the frunk.

In U.S. parlance, a "hood" refers to the lid at the front end of a vehicle.

But these are graphics of the rear hatch:

Since our car and its key fob are in the shop, I can't check . . . but surely the button to close the frunk lid is not marked on the fob with a graphic of the rear hatch?

Or is this another of those confusing instructions Lucid puts out, such as use a USB 2.0 stick for the Halo Secure feature when a 3.0 stick will also work, or saying that the 3.3.1 download can only be completed with a visit to a Service Center (something I was also told by Customer Care when I called for clarification) when it can also be done by a mobile technician?

Just added this new bug:

Update 9/24/25: All of a sudden, with the Gravity at 69% (nice), I'm getting spammed with Android app notifications: "Battery very low. Charge now." A pretty serious bug if you ask me.
We've been having this too -- the battery goes to 0%, the car won't drive, the app goes wild -- and then sleep resets it.

My sense is this is the same bug as the random alerts about other systems being unavailable which also clear quickly. Some sort of communication issue between all the different systems. I assume it can't contact the battery management system for a moment and then decides the battery is missing. I was able to get this picture:

Do you mean this bug renders the car undriveable until you wait out a sleep reset? How often is this happening?

Only once while waiting to drive. We're getting the alerts every few days now when parked, though. Service said that the ran diagnostics and there were no actual battery problems.

Yeah I get the notifications but it has never rendered the car unable to drive.

Yes, but it will be.

And, in this case, they literally quoted the manual and posted a screenshot of the precise answer while saying it doesn’t exist lol
genius of them 😂😅😅😅

My car is still at the service center.
Was supposed to be ready yesterday, but they let me know that work on another car had taken more time than expected.
Picking it up later today.
They are now doing the sw update.
As I'm monitoring the update progress via the app, a notification appears says "Battery Low. Please charge".
This is with the update 38% complete.

I delivered the car to them at 77% SOC.
They topped it off to 80% overnight.

Just texted the service tech.

This is the front edge of the hood:

Which is where the close button should be! It seems like an engineer forgot to put it there and it was too late to fix.

I'd say it is better to have the button where it is rather than have to run wiring to that location on the hood.

The button has been in the same spot since the early deliveries in December. It was an intentional choice. That location is what they meant in the manual.

So I guess they screwed up the design of the lift gate then... because that's where the button is on the lift gate.
I swear some of you all must be Lucid stock holders with how defensive you are about the company.
