Lucid Gravity GT
Hi, I'm a new Lucid Gravity GT owner, you may remember me from this introduction yesterday .

But first, a bit of background about me. My name is Artem Russakovskii and professionally, I've founded and spent over a decade running a popular Android news and reviews site (AndroidPolice.com, sold to Valnet in 2021) and I currently run APKMirror.com.

In general, if I feel passionate about a product, I tend to provide a lot of constructive feedback as well as deliver it directly to people who can fix it at the relevant companies (for example, Google with Android). If I do find an internal contact, I provide them with bug reports, video demonstrations, etc. in order to fix the issues, and I really hope I will eventually find someone like that at Lucid. Please reach out if you're an engineer on the Lucid team. I have a CS background and deal with development daily, meaning you will be dealing with a fairly technical person.

I'm most active on Twitter https://twitter.com/ArtemR.

With the intro out of the way, here are my Lucid Gravity Grand Touring initial impressions after the first 2 days with the car.

First, the Good:

- Quick (828 HP).
- Luxurious.
- Big battery and long range (rated up to 450 miles).
- Huge trunk. 120 cubic ft of total cargo space (5-seater) is insane. Tesla Model X 5-seater has like 92 cubic ft total.
- Huge frunk that you can even sit in because they removed the front wall. An optional $500 frunk seat accessory exists to make this even more comfortable, though that's entirely too much money for something I'll likely almost never use
- Native NACS (Tesla-style) charger, on the correct side (rear driver side, unlike Rivian and others)
- I really like how the Gravity looks, especially at night with the lights on. It's just gorgeous, inside and out.
- Sound isolation is top notch, much better than any Tesla models. When I sit inside with the windows closed, it's like I'm in a sound bubble.
- Beautiful dashboard and screens, albeit not as functional as Tesla's.
- Some physical buttons. For example, climate controls and volume.
- Great, smooth suspension, much much much better than Rivian's and smoother than Tesla Model X's.
- Autopilot-like Drive Assist functionality so much smoother than Tesla's. No jerking around, no slamming on the brakes in traffic.
- Folding tables in 2nd row, with charging ports. - Fold-flat 2nd and 3rd row seats (I opted out of 3rd row entirely).
- Motorized sun shades for rear windows.
- Massage, cooling, and heated front seats.

For some reason, the forum is throwing an error 500 when I try to post The Bad, and I can't figure out why. But I've also posted this to Reddit, so I will refer to this thread unless an admin can figure out what's causing the posting error .

I am pretty confident that many of your issues will be sorted out quickly via software updates. But it’s a really great write up! It’s clear you care about fixing the problems from the style of your writing!

😱 you're the Android police guy?!? That's awesome!

Love the Gravity, you got the best color too

It may just be that your post got too long. I'm coming from a Tesla Model X as well, and have only had my car for a few days longer. But some of the points in your Reddit post:
Big battery and long range (rated up to 450 miles)
I'm definitely not getting anywhere near that, though there are a number of options in my vehicle (22" wheels, 7 seater, DE so 1k HP), that takes that down to something like 350mi rated, and their dynamic range prediction is even lower.
  • Some physical buttons. For example, climate controls and volume.
On top of that, I appreciate the fact that 3 of the buttons are customizable, and they feel very solid to touch (like everything else w/ this car).
  • No physical button to close powered frunk when standing outside. Need to either close manually or go back to the screen or mobile app.
There is a button on the inside, passenger side facing out. You have to hold it and it beeps before the frunk closes itself.
  • Navigation is powered by HERE Maps is inferior to Tesla's navigation, which is powered by Google. It's usable, but has quirks. For example, traffic light symbols are shown the same size no matter what the zoom level is, so if there are a lot of them, they will cover up the whole driving path.
Agreed, Google maps is solely in the top spot and everything else is in distant second/third place. Fun fact: I knew someone who was hired into Tesla, maybe 6–7 years back, to try to build their own mapping solution and not be so reliant on Google Maps. Obviously that effort didn't work, but I wonder how much of the motivation is the licensing costs…
  • Entertainment apps (like Netflix?) missing even though video playback is teased by in-car demo video. Is it coming in a future update? If so, why is the showcase already live when it's not ready?
Delivery rep. said YouTube and Netflix are "coming soon" as I took the car, but they just may be repeating the company line.

This is the 2nd or 3rd “first impressions” post within days of owning the vehicle where some of the bad is purely because the owner hasn’t spent the time to get to know the car.

In this post I saw the one of the bad points was not being able to close the frunk unless using the mobile app etc. where if you read the manual or actually looked in the frunk you’d see a button that closes it.

Maybe don’t be so quick to post and get to know the car better beforehand or simply read the manual to clarify what you’re stating is actually true.

I don't think it is, but even if it were, the forum should tell you that instead of just throwing a 500 server error and showing a generic error.

I asked Lucid phone support and they acknowledged there's no button. I also researched this online and found people saying there's no button.

Edit: Lucid Millbrae service finally called me back after 2 days of promising to do so, and I asked the same question. The service advisor also didn't know, but she found out that there's a small button after all that I wouldn't have noticed if she didn't insist that it should be there. So I stand corrected on this one and will update and correct my coverage of this concern everywhere.

Please point out any other inaccuracies with my post and I will be happy to address them.

Do you actually own a production Gravity? Because there's no button. I even asked Lucid phone support and they acknowledged there's no button. I also researched this online and found people confirming no button. If you can point out the location of such a button on the Gravity, I will make corrections everywhere.
Yes I do

Lucid could've stamped that button with a "Close" icon or something.
Would’ve added $100 to the price for that luxury 😂

Just added this new bug:

Update 9/24/25: All of a sudden, with the Gravity at 69% (nice), I'm getting spammed with Android app notifications: "Battery very low. Charge now." A pretty serious bug if you ask me.

Just a heads up about that close button inside the frunk; if you're getting comfy sitting in the right side of the frunk (especially if you have the frunk seat) and decide to swing your body around to the left and bring your legs up, be careful because you might accidently lean back and your back might press that close button. Before you know it the frunk is trying to close on you.

I didn't wait to see if the hood would sense contact with me and open back up (something it does when I don't fold the frunk seat properly).
I scrambled out.
Opened it back up and finished my lunch.

Halo Secure (equivalent of Tesla Sentry/dashcam) exists, but I haven't been able to connect to it even once through the app. Maybe it'll be fixed with mobile key? "Connection failed" every time.
I had this issue as well until I installed a USB stick in the glovebox port. As soon as I did that, it worked both when my Gravity was on wifi at home and on cellular away from home and has continued to work without fail. Some folks don't seem to need a USB stick for Live View to work, though, so maybe it is a coincidence that mine started working when in inserted the USB stick? It is a beta feature, so it is bound to be buggy. There are several posts about this issue in the Software Version 3.3.1 thread.

or you could have just read the manual. I know, major hardship. Much easier to ask people or ChatGPT 🤯
It doesn't appear to be in the manual. Very odd spot to put the close button and very odd to put using the app as the first option to close the frunk.

I have the USB stick installed already though.
