You guys are old (like me) I put in our first network with PC's but it was Novell and they were pretty solid at networking. Top-o-the-line work station was a HP386SX Processor with 1 MB of RAM and I thought we were really cooking with gas! They were $5,000 each! Had to load the OS and Windows from 5 1/4" floppies.....took forever!

An ammunition depot? A military bunker? No the Lucid Mechanicsville service center.
Two service techs had already come out while I remained in my car until just before my appointment time.
I had to take a picture.

I've been to the Tysons Corner service center.
The facility is fantastic.
What I was looking at was a stark contrast.
I respectfully mentioned to the service tech that the building what not at all what I was expecting, especially after having been to the Tysons Corner location and knowing the luxury branding of Lucid. He said the inside what nicer.
He proudly stated he enjoyed his work and had been at the location since 2022 when they were servicing cars as far north as the Maine and Vermont before the KOP and another service center opened.
He indicated that Lucid is considering new sc locations based on sales volume by state and region.
So, I hope this a temporary situation.
However, it has existed since 2022.

Does anyone else's service center look like what's shown below?
Should I not be surprised?

Haha wow, no, that’s not what any service center I’ve seen looks like, and is clearly temporary until they have more market penetration in that area.

The service centers I’ve seen are clean and modern… not Vietnam-era hangars, lol.
 
There's apparently a good bit of variation in looks and layouts of the Service Centers. The West Palm Beach SC is rather small but very nicely outfitted with a comfortable waiting area through which you can view the work area through large picture windows. The Miami Worldcenter SC is large and directly adjoining the sales Studio in a fairly tony part of town, which has very nice waiting areas and nearby restaurants and shops. While you can't see the work area from the Studio, you can see it clearly from the intake bay just off the street.

The Roswell SC just north of Atlanta is a very large building with a huge parking lot full of Airs and a few Gravities. However, there is only a small lobby with no waiting area where you turn in your car and where you are met only with a series of solid doors leading back into the work area, which is completely out of sight. It's also in sort of a light industrial park.

That Mechanicsville SC kind of reminds me of the White Plains, NY Airport back in the day when workers had to push squeegees around the WWII quanset huts that served as passenger terminals in order to push away the standing water on the floors during a rainstorm.

The presence of and reason for a temporary location makes sense.
The location (unseen behind a body shop; can't be seen from the road) and facade of the facility is very inconsistent with the branding/image of Lucid.

Looking at the Lucid locations, in addition to studios there are locations labeled as "mobile service hub", "service + mobile service hub", and "service".
  • Service + Mobile Service Hub - Mechanicsville, VA and Nashville, TN
  • Mobile Service Hub - Charlotte, NC and Louisville, KY
  • Service - Roswell, GA
I wonder what the Nashville service center looks like?

This I know: I want those guys happy.
Two of the three that work there have been there since 2022.

@marqie if you have any info that you can share regarding future plans for that service center, I'd really appreciate it.

Ours on our Models 3 and Y are actually pretty good about this. As you can imagine, with me being 6’2” and she being 5’0” it causes a bit of a panic if it tries to set me to her driving position. It happens occasionally but most often it seems to just pick the right profile.
 
Wait a second, how do you program driver recognition in the Gravity? I dug and dug and dug, and never found it.
 
Ok that makes me feel better. I spent like 10 mins looking through the menu system trying to find it a few weeks back and just figured the car didn't have it.
 
Are you talking about assigning a profile to a fob or keycard? We set it up on mine Sunday, so it does work. It was in the keys and fobs setting menu if i recall.
 
Here is the current method required to get in my car.

If it has only been locking and sitting for about 15 minutes: waive the keycard on teh b pillar until it unlocks.
If it has gone to sleep, i need to press the fob unlock button several times and then waive the keycard on the B pillar.

Also as i mentioned in another thread, if i plug in a device in teh center console to charge, i get a USB Device not supported message on the dash every 2 minutes for the entire drive.

Sounds about right. Lots of gremlins in the SW, but gosh darn it, every time I can drive it I forgive those issues. It’s so addictive. It’s a complicated relationship. Probably need to start a therapy thread…

Before Lucid’s Natick Mass center existed they were renting space out of Hollis Auto Body which repairs McLaren, Aston Martin, Tesla, Audi and Porsche. Lucid has very rigorous standards and training for their SCs and body shops, like specified down to the type of lighting that needs to be used, and I think they’re re-inspected by Lucid corporate every 6 months. So while yeah the exterior may not look posh, don’t forget some of the greatest race cars have been built under similar confines, so it wouldn’t concern me.

Do their specs include survival after a nuclear attack? Seems the only way to explain the bunker in Mechanicsville…

I wish their requirements for releasing software were as strict… 😏

Good point about the interior.

I'd definitely prefer quality work on the inside and rough on the outside versus the opposite.

A posh or even just modern exterior in a visible location would help brand awareness quite a bit.
The body shop the service center is behind is on a very very busy road.

The wait for the part did take weeks (4), but two of those weeks were due to internal miscommunication among the employees at the service center.
The part wasn't even ordered during those two weeks.
The service tech worked diligently through the challenge.
The tech says the car should be ready by tomorrow afternoon, so a day and a half for:
  1. Center console replacement
  2. Work for TSC-N0925-008 Rear Door Rattle Noise; I don't hear any noise, but tech says it's possible from the rod inside the rear doors that raise and lower the window shade
  3. Installation of v3.3.1 that failed for me at home
  4. Update of key fob firmware; related to 3.3.1
  5. Check floor panels for possible liquid ingress from coffee spill
My wife was unavailable to follow me to the service center, so they provided me with an Air Pure.

So, since you just picked your car up this weekend, I would assume that it had been updated to 3.3.1 and fob firmware also updated. I guess our hope that these updates would put the fob unreliability issues to rest is not a reality.

However, a key difference with timing of work: the Mechanicsville sc most likely doesn't have the volume of customers like the Tysons sc.
