Gravity PPF Installation

Anyone able to share cost for ceramic coat on their Gravity? Or at least a price range? Not doing full ppf (maybe platinum delete), but may do ceramic as I love the look and ease of future cleaning.

I paid $1100 for ceramic coating (Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra), including wheels.
Discounted $400 since I did not have the glass roof coated.

Paid $2350 for partial front ppf (XPEL Ultimate Plus).

If I only ceramic coat now, can I do color-change PPF later? Will ceramic coat interfere with adhesion? Does the chance of chipping and other wear create a huge problem for later?

I’m leasing with the hope of buying later, so I don’t want to invest in a full PPF job now.

Yes, ceramic coatings interfere with film adhesion. The ceramic coating can be removed before applying the film, but it's a tedious process that needs to be done by a professional.

Anyone has any issues with getting the front windshield tinted?
I just got mine done, but with the clear ceramic, heat rejecting film. The installer had no issues doing it.

I was quoted $900 by my guy. That's two step with Gtechniq CSL base coat and EXOv5 on top.

Our black Gravity PPF installation is "wrapping up" this week, so to say. Xpel has now released templates for all the panels, and the installer says this job is going a good bit faster than the green Gravity wrap which required custom cutting.

After hesitating, we decided to go ahead with windshield protection film on this car as well as the first car. The reason for the hesitation was some distracting distortion in the film on the first car. I initially attributed it to the installer, but upon further digging through reviews and internet videos, I found it to be a common problem -- although less with this new soft film from Xpel than with older, more rigid products from other film producers. (The Stek website warns you to expect distortion with their windshield protection film and actually says it's not a product for most everyday drivers.)

Apparently the Xpel distortion is more pronounced on some cars than on others, due both to the slopes of the windshields and optical interaction with the middle lamination film in the windshields. The Gravity has a pretty steep windshield slope and maybe a windshield laminate that is not the best combo with the Xpel film.

However, as we live near sand quarries and encounter convoys of dump trucks, we went ahead with the windshield protection. In direct sunlight our Air windshield looks as if it's been through a sandblaster, and I'd like to avoid that in the Gravities even at the cost of some distortion which we're mostly getting used to. If it becomes too annoying, the film is easily removed (as it doesn't last as long as the paint protection film and is expected to be replaced periodically).

Hello, do they have windshield protection that is beef enough for the entire windshield or were multiple pieces used? Thank you

Xpel is reported to be coming out with a width that will do the windshield in one piece all the way back to the joint over the crossbar. However, right now they only have it in 40" width (or 48" . . . I've heard both).

We only used a single width which terminates just above the sun visors. The line is almost invisible, even when you're right up on the car, so I opted not to go with a second panel as I didn't want to deal with dirt getting into seams, and the top of the canopy is not as subject to damage, anyway.

My plan to was replace the single panel with the wider one when it becomes available, but after living with it I don't think I'll bother.

Here's an update on the situation with the Xpel windshield protection film:

After getting it applied to the second Gravity, we found any distortion to be negligible to the point that you really had to focus to find any. When the installer saw how much better the film worked on the second car, he replaced the film on the first Gravity -- and at no charge. We picked up that car yesterday, and it is now as distortion-free as the other car.

Xpel says don't expect it to last as long as the PPF on the car body, but the installer said it's easy to remove and replacement will cost only a few hundred dollars. Given how pock-marked the windshield has become on our Air due to living near sand quarries, I wish this new film had been available when we had the Air wrapped.

I hadn't seen anything at all about this before but at the grand opening of the San Diego service center they had someone from Ceramic Pro onsite and said that Lucid is partnering with them nationwide now for PPF/tint/ceramic coating and that it'll be offered from the Lucid site to have it done before taking delivery of new vehicles.

Did they say anything about price and how this works for cars to be delivered outside of SD?

This isn't just San Diego, they're a national company and I think they said they had over 200 locations in the U.S.

They said it was going to be added to the Lucid site somehow and that you'd be able to order the PPF/ceramic/tint before taking delivery and it'd be done by their installers and ready for when you take delivery from Lucid.

Not a lot of other information about it right now, just the page on the main Ceramic Pro site but the person from Lucid (I didn't catch his name) that was speaking at the opening said it was a new partnership.

Nothing specific about pricing but I'll likely talk to them soon to see and maybe have it done before my Gravity is delivered.

Their site has a nice color visualizer, you can even select a Gravity as a vehicle to see the different PPF films.
