It is my understanding that Gravity has plug and charge enabled at both Tesla and EA chargers. Will plug and charge comprehend if one has the charging subscriptions with either of these companies , for instance a Pass+ membership with EA.

Right now it will not recognize your membership at either EA or Tesla. However, Lucid has said that they are working on that.

In the meantime, I believe that if you initiate the charge using the EA or Tesla app, then plug in, you'll get the subscriber rate.

Yes, if you do it this way, you get your membership benefits, except....I think you have to plug in first at EA, so that wouldn't work as it would start charging....

I typically initiate with the app at EA before plugging in. It works fine, no matter what the charging stall screen says when you arrive.

So up until I installed 3.3.1 I was able to plug and charge at my local EA DC fast chargers. Since the update I now get repeated errors and then the car says I need to do another step on the Lucid app to select the charger. It works but WTF! The update unimproved my charging experience, why?

It’s not the update; check your lucid charging service summary… does it look like this?

The “select what charger you’re at” is a fallback mechanism for authentication when Plug and Charge fails to properly authenticate. It has existed for a very long time, and is not new.

Your car stores authentication certificates for EA and Tesla, separately. It is possible one or both of those certs got corrupted, deleted, expired, who knows.

You can call customer care and ask them to repush the EA PnC cert if it continues failing.

But even if all things are working perfectly, if there is ever an authentication issue, this is how you work around it - once you select, it knows you’re you and it’s your car and can start charging.

This is very annoying on loaners the few times it happens, as you don’t have access to the phone app to confirm which charger you’re at.

I tried using an EA charger today at the Florida Mall in Orlando. I tried every iteration including paying with a credit card and using the EA app. No joy. Went to the Tesla chargers next door and plugged and charged.

I think it might be just a legacy EA problem.. As much as they claim to have improved things, there still seem to be a lot of stations that have crappy and unreliable equipment. I tried my first EA charge today (at a 350 KW station), and the plug and charge worked fine, but only got 71kw charging on a 50% SOC battery. EA still sucks.

Did a quick test today at a EA station- 150KW was all that was available. Had to physically hold the charge cable in the NACS port given the weight of the power cable. Kept pulling the adapter out of the cars NACS socket. I al using the adapter that came with the car. Anyone else having that issue? Other than holding it in the socket everything else worked fine. Glad it wasn't cold or wet. Was just a quick test 5 mins, to verify it and y app was working. Did need to add some cash to the EA bank before it would inmate a charge though.

Were you at a 350kW station, or 150kW?
What was your battery SOC percentage when you plugged in?
Did you precondition for 30+ minutes on the way there?

There were 3 of the 4 chargers at this location that were 350 KW. The only one free was the 150KW one.
Yes I did pre-condition, battery was at 45% and the charger did deliver the full 150KW. Only issue was trying to keep the adapter plugged in. The heavy power cable kept dragging it out just enough to interrupt the charge. Pushed it back in and it started charging agin. Not good given there could be some arcing when that happens. Though I did not see that happen I this case.

In general, with a Gravity, a CCS charging stop with four stalls or less is going to be your last resort.

I'd aim for a supercharger every time unless there was a 6+stall 350kW station nearby that isn't full.

I share Tom’ s concern.
Wondering if anyone else has seen the same problem of CCS charging cable disengaging from the adaptor.
Could it be that the cable at this station has worn out a bit and therefore can’t stay “locked” ?

So tried another charge at a 350kw EA charge station (6 stalls). Failed because the cable kept pulling the adapter out of the charge socket. Cale is just too heavy. I could of course stood there and held the thing up so it would stayed connected! The adapter Lucid provides is a pretty sorry design. Anyone know of an alternative that will stay put?

I’ve charged at multiple EAs with both vehicles and the Lucid adapter; you had a bad station. I’ll usually hold it up until the charge starts just out of habit, but if it didn’t lock inside the port that was a bad cable/station.

The Lucid adapter works fine with EA.

Huh, so I guess the NACS connection doesn't lock like the CCS?

It should. The car should take care of locking the cable. If it doesn’t, something is wrong.

The little button next to the charge port is the cable unlock button, fwiw.

So how is the power cable disconnecting if it is locked? Is it separating from the adapter?
