Gravity Bugs / Issues

Another new glitch. On a drive this morning when we signaled a right lane shift a live image of side traffic came up. But when we signaled a left lane shift all we got was a frozen image of a white pickup we had passed earlier on a different road. This persisted throughout the drive.

I think Lucid owes you like 3 free DE Gravitys for your troubles man! It just keeps coming for you. That car has got to go and be stripped down for parts and get you a new one (or 3) ASAP.

I haven’t had this happen, but I have had the passenger side blind spot detector not show the light or warn me when there’s clearly someone in the blind spot there. It works 90% of the time, but I think it’s a bit glitchy. Got to check mirrors either way.

I just heard from Lucid today that they're taking the car to the Miami Service Center on August 25 to work on the navigation/GPS system. The first step will be to reload all the software, which takes several hours and which they say the mobile tech does not have the bandwidth to do. I'm hoping some of these software gremlins get vanquished in the process.

If that doesn't fix the navigation problem the next step will be to start replacing hardware. They're saying they'll have the car back to us for our planned September 9 trip departure. They don't have an ETA on the replacement HUD unit, so if it's not available by this service visit, the car will have to go back to the Service Center, because that's also something a mobile tech can't handle.

I was able to get a couple of shots over my left shoulder at stoplights while signaling a left turn. The first two photos show what was actually along our left side and in the blind spot. The third shows the display we were getting on the glass cockpit. It's interesting that the frozen image of the white pickup had originated with a car that was on the right side of our car as we passed it some miles earlier, but it was now displaying when signaling a left turn. (Right turn signals continued to generate real-time moving images of what was actually on the right side of the car.)

One test of Gravity functionality I had not conducted yet was the key cards being used to drive the car.
I had paired both cards and knew they were working to lock/unlock, but hadn't tested the drive function.

The cards are not working to put car in gear.
The message "Tap card on Console to Drive" appears when I put my foot on the brake.
Customer Care walked me through allowing the car to go to sleep and the reset.
The rep kept saying put the card on the wireless charging section of the console.
Rep put in request to have local service center come out to work on the issue.

I then realized I had never tried wireless charging.
Tried it. Didn't work.

Rep says local service center will need to replace the charging pad/console.
I recall others mentioned getting center console replaced.

Not bummed because key fob does work, so I'm not stranded.

The concerning thing is that the car did not report a camera fault even though that camera had failed to display. Like the car has buckets of false alarms but when you need the real alarm it doesn’t alert you?

Unless I’m wrong I don’t think that’s the correct spot to put the keycard. In both test drive gravity I had they placed the keycard on the right passenger side of the wireless charging pad longitudinally. Neither test drive car had a working fob so they used the keycards.

I've tried the entire area. Left and right side. Not just the area shown in the image. Still testing.

Once I got a "Wireless charging not working. Contact service." message. Then "USB charging not working. Contact service".

I tried wireless charging and both key cards at delivery. Placement for wireless charging is finicky, but does work.

For key card placement, there’s literally a symbol like there is on exterior of b pillar, where you put the key card. It’s not where the wireless charging spots are…

I got the “USB charging not working. Contacts service” a couple of times while driving, but it goes away quickly and my phone keeps charging. Similar to the air suspension and a few other warnings or sounds…

While I haven't had that exact experience I have had the blind spot cameras stop working mid-drive which is a bit of a pain because I've come to rely on them given my seat positioning and the pillar location. Cameras being used in lieu of mirrors really need to operate 100% of the time.

Wireless charging working.
After placing my phone in different areas, I finally pressed it against the lower left and right edges of the charging area; success.
I then see the note in the manual about better reception at the bottom edge; success.
So, I feel better that there isn't a defective console.

I know the symbol you're referring to.
See image below.
The lower and bottom edges of that area is where wireless charging works.
It now will work when moved somewhat away from the edges.

Charging stops temporarily when I press the brake pedal.
I'm thinking it's a signal interruption while sensors are trying to detect a key card.

@Bunnylebowski I placed the key card on the upper and lower corners of passenger side.
I don't think the charging pad extends past the word Gravity, but I tried it there as well.
See images below.

@Ron_Burgundy will you post of picture of where you're placing your key card?
The screen message says "tap".
I've tried tapping and placing the card.
Are you tapping or placing?

I think hmp10's tales of woe have firmly shifted me from being jealous of those who've gotten a Gravity delivered, to thankful that I don't have to explain to my wife why I paid more than $100K for a vehicle with this many problems. I still want one, but I'm keeping my GGT+HUD order, and hoping that things seem in better shape months from now when they start building my order. I feel like there's at least 3 more software releases needed before the glitch rate might reach a more acceptable level.

@msaunders9430

I was mistaken. That area on the wireless charging pad toward back and middle with the symbol IS where I put my key card and it works. For some reason, in my head, I thought it was a different place. It IS finicky for wireless charging.

I wouldn’t just drop my phone and expect it to charge. I wait to see it is charging.

Cool

Service center manager called.
Sending mobile tech out next week since I'm not stranded and things are tight for rest of this week.
Car going to detailer M-W, so manager will call me Thursday.

Not giving up yet.
Planning to let it take another nap and try.
Then the reset again.
Then call CC to see if they can push software to it again.

On the test drive I took, the SA placed the card dead center on that symbol.
Do you know if the SA also had the key fob with them?
I wonder if they take both on test drives, just in case.
I have a Faraday bag for my fob.
As soon as I took the fob out after trying the cards, the car sensed the fob and was ready to drive.

If test drives are done with fob and cards, card isn't needed.

So on delivery, we were testing the key card and I realized the SA had the fob on him the whole time. So I asked him to leave it far enough away that the car wouldn’t pick it up. This allowed us to really test the key cards…

They did have both the Fob and card. They checked at the beginning of each drive to be certain we could shift to drive. I had the impression they were having frequent problems and the card was seeing them through.
