Gravity Bugs / Issues

While we've been posting this morning I was informed that the 3.2.2 update was available so I ran it and if FAILED! Never had that happen before in any EV. I have a big "Update Failed" warning in the central display that says I should contact service. I hope my car isn't "bricked" because I need to get home.
You should be fine. The update was already downloaded to the car, if it failed you just reinstall or ask CS to repost the update notification again. I’ve never heard of a failed update bricking a Lucid.

It’ll either be pushed again in a few days or you can maybe contact them to push again. Did you take a pic of the message? On the Air it used to say “CS has been notified” and you didn’t need to do anything. Would just show back up in a day or so to install again.

Same here.

It's a story that seems to repeat over and over with Lucid. They break new and challenging technology ground left, right, and center to produce world-class efficiency, power, chassis dynamics, charging speed, and space utilization. Literally no other carmaker moves as many automotive design and engineering needles simultaneously. But they can't get a car door to open reliably to save their lives.

I just don't get it.
As Rawlinson said a year ago, Lucid didn't pay attention to software engineering the way it did to the hardware side of the vehicle, and he recognized that they needed to build up their software development capabilities. I can say from personal experience that making such a change typically takes more than a year. Assuming Lucid is following through on that effort in the wake of Rawlinson's departure, a focus on better software engineering may not become readily apparently to Lucid's customers for another 6 months to a year.

Thank you.....yes that is consistent with what I'm seeing. I just drove to lunch and it was fine.

There was that one time...

J/k let's see if torque news picks this up as a story now 🤣

Took delivery yesterday. Issues seen so far:

1. “Wireless Charging Unavailable” briefly flashed on the screen during the drive home
2. The unlock button fell off the key fob
3. “4 Wheel Steering Unavailable” appeared but went away on next drive
4. Homelink didn’t recognize the remote the first time but did the next day
5. Doors seem to have a slight delay to open after unlocking

Overall it seems like the car is mechanically done, but the software and integration could have used a few months. But honestly nothing ticks all the boxes of car-like handling, three rows, and EV for me, so I’m still enjoying it

new to me today.
Hazzard opening door appear, van was coming up on driver side. I have plenty of room to open door. pull lever, hazard opening warning came up on screen , no biggie. I waited for van to pass. pull lever, same warning. I think I have to wait like 5 seconds before it let me open the door. the van was already down the block, and nothing else coming up on the driver side. maybe sensor just needs time to clear. thought I bring it up, in case others are seeming something similar. BUT, I do like how this works. great for children, or people who's not paying attention. nothing happens, door don't open. On my Audi and Porsche, the door actually opens, you get a flashing light warning, I can see that by the time you realized the flashing LEDs were meant to warn you, it might have been too late. This Lucid keeping the levers from actually working is great.

Without a way to over ride it, could easily turn into a hazard.

Not to be too negative, if middle row windows seats are buckled in, the seats won’t move out of the way if someone pushes the button to fold. I thought that was very clever.

Lucid is in Newark CA, just a few minutes from companies like Meta, Google, etc. Their pay scale for software engineers is a complete joke. They will never attract good software engineers, when people can literally drive 5 minutes and make 5x more elsewhere.

Volvo does this, my V60 had a delay to reopen, it was great and totally saved me from opening the door in the path of a cyclist. That’s great the Gravity does it too.

turn off the feature

Well, Meta and Google have been shedding a lot of people lately. That aside, the tech industry has always had multiple tiers of comp, and it's never been the case that companies paying in the lower tiers cannot build good engineering teams. A company like Lucid might also place a higher value on skills that Meta mostly doesn't care about, such as real time embedded systems. But sure, labor is a capitalist market, much as companies like to try and convince employees that pay shouldn't be their primary motivation for doing the work. Not knowing Lucid's comp strategy, it's hard to say if they'll need to make comp adjustments in order to successfully build up the team.

I hope it won't bug out in accident and prevent opening doors.
Any behavior like that would result in a recall. I wouldn’t worry about it. Like they had a recall cuz a floor mat could move. If the car stops me from opening a door for 5 seconds after I nearly opened it into an oncoming vehicle, that’s just fine.
