More phantom braking in the last month or so ...

Get used to it. If you’re not prepared to put up with this then stay away from the likes of Lucid, Tesla & Rivian. These cars are so software driven, bugs will always exist.
Agreed. I sort of knew this but I bit the bullet anyway. I have good days and bad days. Today is a bad one.

Not to be dismissive of it either, it can be certainly frustrating for sure. It’s just the reality we have to accept with this high tech/highly software driven cars. The only thing we can hope for as Lucid continues to grow is that in future, the bug fixes / updates are a little more speedier than what they have been of late.

Since the last update before the Android Auto one, I am having a lot of phantom breaking. Not the throw-you-through-the-windshield type, but it taps the breaks a lot. It happens maybe 30% of the time when I am overtaking a truck that is on the right. It also happens - not as much - with non-trucks, and it seems it's always when the other car is in the lane to my right. I don't have any error for LIDAR or cams. The other vehicle doesn't venture in my lane, or doesn't even ride the divider. It's happening regardless if the road winds or it's straight.

Is it just my luck or is anyone else having the same issue lately?
Just finished a drive to NorCal and back to SD in my AGT. I also experienced this exact problem constantly when I was on the I5. Overtaking a vehicle (usually a truck but not always) while on the Drive Assist cruise control and the car would break. No car ahead of me that would cause it. Never happened before this trip, but they really have to fix the software. This is a safety hazard that could result in someone rear ending you when the car unexpectedly breaks. The cruise control is almost unusable if this is happening.

Hopefully Lucid reads this and gets a fix in. The perennial problem tho is that every fix breaks something else - without fail, like a Swiss clockwork.

It did it again, 3 times yesterday, while cruising on 405 from SD to LA. One time, it actually SLAMMED the breaks. This is crossing from annoyance into safety-issue territory now. I didn't think to note down the time but I will start doing that.

Phantom breaking happened to me a few times, triggered by just a shadow or a darker (wet) area on the road in front of the car

Breaking: The act of separating into pieces, damaging, or disrupting something.

Braking: The act of slowing down or stopping movement, typically with a brake.

Thanks for this Bobby. I was wondering how long it would take for someone to comment on this.

Not to be flippant, but I do see how can any day be "bad" in iconic Oceanside Ca, with a Lucid, S560, Panamera. Maybe if I was there and someone someone stole my longboard.

Point taken. I meant bad day in the relationship with my Lucid.

Hate bringing up an old thread but didn't want to start a new one as per forum policy, but this issue really annoyed me on my 1400 mile round-trip drive on I-5 from LA to Central Point, OR this weekend.

Phantom braking happened frequently and very noticeable on both Drive Assist and Assisted Cruise on this long drive. I tried to to see if there was a specific pattern when it happens but I couldn't exactly pinpoint when it why it happens. The closest I think i saw as a pattern was when I'm in the left lane, and I was when passing 18 wheelers with extra long trailers and large RVs/trucks pulling hitched trailers. Most of the phantom braking were just quick audio alerts with immediate slowdowns but didn't get out of DA or AC, but there were a few brake slams with the collision alert going off big time that scared me and the car(s) behind me. I have a '23 GT on 2.7.1,

BTW, EA chargers at Kettleman are getting a major overhaul and construction so avoid this stop and double check the EA app before you plan your charging stops on I-5.

You need to document time and location if you can. I am doing the same as my phantom braking is also continuing.

Thank you for this! I’m heading down in a couple of weeks and that’s usually my go to stop.

I'm assuming this will be sorted when they begin the roll out of the upgraded hands free on July 30th. Thats just an assumption but I don't see how they could move forward with this bug and I'm fairly sure they are aware of it.

No way in heck I would trust hands-free if this bug persists. The hard slams at going 70-80 with cars behind you is no time to not have your hands on the wheel and foot on the accelerator.

I’ll note this isn’t isolated to Lucid, and I had a lot more fantom breaking in my Tesla then I’ve ever experienced in my Lucid.

Kinda got a kick out of re-reading this thread after I just watched Tesla’s Robotaxi get beat by a Waymo on Tesla’s home turf.

Fwiw, I agree - but I have yet to experience the phantom braking. So I suspect it is either an OTA issue (aka will be resolved in a future update) or something is wrong with some individual cars. My guess is the former.

Heads up, because Kettleman is down, the wait to charge line at Harris Ranch was ridiculously long with 2/6 EA chargers down while I was there 7/20.

A good level 3/4 ADAS in a consumer car is more than a decade away.....one where you can trust it completely. We are just not there yet. I just drive on my own...
