The Press Embargo Has Been Lifted

About 10 days since we were speculating when OoS Reviews might post an in-depth review of Gravity and still nothing. I hope Lucid is planning to get them a loaner soon. It can only help their mission.

I don’t know who was expecting OOS to release a detailed longer term review of Gravity any time soon. Most of their long term reviews are done on cars that they either own or are owned by friends and family. The long term Air that they had recently, was not loaned to them until 3 years after Air production started. I think that Lucid, rightly so, is currently focused on getting vehicles to people on waiting list and display/testers to Studios. I also think that Lucid will want to make sure things like the HUD, promised hands free highway ADAS are worked out and that the software is stable before allowing press to do long term, deep dives into this car.

Virtually all of their reviews from recent press day were very positive. If done too soon, long term reviews will find bugs and other issues that could only hurt that initial good vibe.

At this time, if you are hoping for a more detailed OOS or other blogger review, you are going to have to hope an early Gravity owner offers to loan his Gravity for a week of testing.

So we'll wait three more year for their full test drive review. ;)

I think Kyle will get hold of a Gravity before then but probably not an official Lucid loaner car. That is why we need some more detailed info and critical analysis from some of our early owners, beyond the pretty pictures and basic “It’s grrrreat!!”reviews that we have gotten so far.

Kyle Conner has real chops when it comes to reviewing charging performance and a few other things. But when it comes to a car's dynamic performance there are reviewers from whom I'm considerably more interested in hearing: Thomas Holland of "Throttle House", Jason Cammisa and "Hagerty", Ben "The Stig" Collins, et al. Conner himself admits that he is not a hard-core driver. While the aforementioned drivers put cars through maneuvers well beyond anything I would try to do, their reviews impart far more information about a car's behavior nearer the limits at which unexpected circumstances can sometimes put us. Conner's test drives are more about driving and riding in the car in more mundane situations, and there have already been a slew of reviews of the Gravity on that score -- all of them overwhelmingly positive.

I'll certainly watch Conner's test drive review when it finally arrives, as I'm sure it will. But I'm biting my nails much more about reports from the center ring of test drivers.

If you have specific questions, ask away. @TribbleTrouble and I have answered many, right here in this very forum.

The reason so many of the reviews are like that is because, frankly, it’s pretty grrrreat.

Still waiting for you to hook up a dragy…afraid to ask anything more complex for fear of triggering a Lucid NDA

I'm still, after all these posts, wondering why a draggy time is so important for a SUV.

Well…as much as I love and trust advertising, I just want real hard unbiased data to go with it.

Once I get my DE, I promise I'll borrow a friend's Dragy. :)

You don’t need 828/1070hp for that.
Yeah that's a fair point. I was referring more towards the traction control. As much as going sideways fast is fun, I'd rather not do that when I'm going down the highway in the middle of a fresh snow dump

Agreed. I don't understand the obsession with drag times.

I'm more curious to see how it handles the winter and all the road salt.
Winter handling!?

Have you seen episode 2 of Road to Gravity?
If you're planning to do more than that test, you should have stayed home when the snow first started.

They are showing the ECO tire for these tests not a dedicated snow tire…I feel like they are screwing with us…

Yeah, that's fair. When I can, I stay at home during bad snow days. But I live here in Canada so I've had quite the experience with how bad snow can get and how crazy the slush and ice can get when mixed with road salt. Plus some places aren't as on-point with snow clearing operations.

Extra emphasis on the road salt. I'm wondering how much the frunk can take a beating with respect to road salt, like when you're swapping between, say, ski / snowboarding boots and your regular footwear

They are also using different non stick wheels, I don’t have a super clear shot to confirm the same eco tires used on those or a proper tire.

Feels like marketing gimmicks to me and not a video of actual equipment (clear shorter base wheels and nothing but blur when vehicle in motion)

speaking of which, has Lucid published the specs on their winter tyres?
