Locked Out

A car should never, ever auto-lock with a key in the car, while not responding to unlock, plain and simple.

Of course a ton of people here will tell you how it was your fault, you should have a backup, etc.

It is really silly and "stooped" at the end of the day - no other brand self-apologizes for this silliness.

I think I'll call it "Lucidibation" from now on. It's really rather silly the ends folk go to justify their purchases.
Agreed!!!!

2007 Corvette here. locks every time I walk away, unlocks when I open it. Has never ever locked itself in 18 years. Must be some kind of George Bush era magic.

You just should not have to think about this stuff, nor worry about where and how it will go wrong.
Agree totally!

Muscle memory from years wo having to remember to take my phone or fob or my wallet outa my car for a few seconds to grab Mail!!!!

forgot D): be a fanboy and deflect every mention of it telling you to take it in for service.

It's D that sort of lights my fuse - cmon folk be realistic - the car sucks in this tiny little area but is brilliant elsewhere... be seemingly it is verboten to raise that topic and everyone needs to jump on the new guy that asks it and tell them to take it in for service?

Really???
Yep. Still think you need a new forum handle...

You really like to put words in other people’s mouths and thoughts in their heads.

How about trying to stick with your own thoughts and your own head? The rest of us can speak for ourselves.

News flash - you can love a car for it's beautiful styling, ground breaking driving dynamics and hate it for the sh** a** software engineers who screw the pooch every turn they get at the same time. This is the single best designed and engineered driving sedan I have seen in a long time which is why I got one. It is a stellar car - for driving.

I'd like it to unlock let me drive it though and I won't shut up about that (or schedule a service appointment). The software team is letting the whole house down, and I'd clear that house if I were in charge - DAY 1. HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A SOFTWARE ENGINEER INTERACT HERE (or anywhere else) IN ANY WAY?

I put no words in your head, yet you tell me to sit down and shut up?

We had an AMA with Lucid's audio team. I guess that does not count in your book?

Leaving the merits of your concern aside, what made you think that the 32nd time would be any different than the previous 31 times?
Exactly! He quite clearly doesn't want to find a solution. Have we all become so entitled that we cannot deign to find workarounds for software quirks? We want software heavy cars but seem to forget software comes with bugs and "fun" quirks. Do we make the same errors over and over with other software, refusing to learn workarounds? I cut my teeth with so many software issues over the years in my 2013 Model S. I honestly find my Air to be much less buggy, but one of the great things I use this forum for is workarounds.

Yes I saw that You comprehend the difference between audio and software right?

That said, huge kudos to Marqie for caring about everything they do - a real gem and one to be celebrated - an engineer who loves what they do - and stands behind it - examplar of the any great folk at Lucid.

At the same time, Lemme know who works in software.. they need a talking to in my book.. letting the whole team down.

I stand by my prior words - I hope everyone else is stealing the door lock guys lunch out of the fridge.

Since the software is not, and probably would never be a differentiator for Lucid (right now it is a differentiator NOT in a good way, BtW), they should be more open discussing issues with the owners. They should create a public issue tracking system where people can report bugs and can see what other people report. The Lucid software team should actively participate in the discussions and explain clearly how hard is it to fix them. There is nothing for them to lose for being more open.

They should also make it easier to push custom firmware to specific cars so they can ask willing owners to test their fixes before they are incorporated into an official update.

Seems like a pretty simple solution...
All the tools of access should not be left in the car. Seems simple and easy to adopt.
Yep, you are doing it wrong. mantra of this forum.

1950's cars didn't lock themselves when you left the keys in the front seat though. plain and simple

Why is it that you seem to reliably show up just to feed negativity? Have you considered contributing anything of value, rather than just dropping in with some insults out of nowhere twice a day?

Yes.

I have personally interacted with many, along with a number of security engineers, and I know at least a dozen or so other folks who have. Just because you haven't doesn't mean Lucid doesn't ask for help or feedback.

Any other questions?

You are, once again, deciding you know things before you ask. Please re-read the guidelines and consider an approach that starts from kindness, curiosity, and seeking to understand, rather than starting from negative assumptions about other people.

Nobody here owes you anything; we don't work for Lucid, and you are not entitled to any of our time. You are being aggressive in a room of people who are trying to have a decent time. Nobody has told OP they are 'doing it wrong' or anything else like that, though OP seems to have made up their mind anyway, which is fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

But nobody is entitled to be a bully. Stop it.
