Android users, can you check this setting? (Unrestricted background battery)

Mine's back to Optimized this morning as well.

Ha! Back to optimisted fairly quickly! Now, I'm going to leave the adaptive battery on and turn off the battery saver, but with the Lucid app in the (also turned off) extreme battery saver's list of essential apps. Should be counterintuitively interesting.

AAARRRAAGGHHHHHH! Failed! Back to Optimized yet again. I'm out of ideas short of wrapping my phone in aluminum foil and swinging it over my head while I squawk like a chicken..... Hmmmm. Might work. Give me an hour or two.

Do we know that the setting would make any difference?

The reason I went immediately to this setting upon getting my vehicle is because it fixed functionality for several other of my apps.

On the golf course I have an app that gives my watch distances to greens/hazards/etc. The phone sits in my golf bag the entire round and you're obviously not fiddling with it while you're playing. Distances were spotty at times and it wasn't updating as it should. This setting fixed it so the GPS distances were updating the same as it would when my phone was actively running the app.

I've played a few games that use your location data, and they had features that unlocked things when you logged a certain distance. Worked fine when the app was open, but I would go on X mile runs and not get distance unlocks with the phone in my pocket. This setting fixed it.

My swasticar app never had a problem I noticed, but it was set to unrestricted on day 1 and never wavered. I don't know if it would help with things in the LUCID app specifically, it's just what I've always done when I think there's features where it would be useful. In this case Mobile Key.

Ah, thanks, I've just changed the setting for my Alltrails hiking app to see if 1) the setting sticks, and 2) it keeps Alltrails from telling me that battery optimization is affecting accuracy.

Pixel 8 Pro - mine is set to allow unrestricted background usage. Pretty sure I've had it set that way since I got the car and installed the app in December. Maybe that's part of why my digital key works so well.

As a reference, PaaK on my Mach e required all permission settings on the Ford app to be as unrestricted as possible for reliable PaaK operation. I think my Rivian app is the same. I wonder if those of you with the app set to "optimized" have experienced any PaaK issues?

Could be. I tried PAAK for a while and found it to be less reliable than the fob. Plus, my phone is too close to the car at night, don't want it waking up and unlocking while I sleep.

Mines been reliably on unrestricted for weeks.

Hmmm, I think there's enough people confirming that it eventually forces it's way back to Optimized that contrarians should probably provide additional specs (phone/version/etc) when saying otherwise.

Pixel 8 pro - Android 15, Apr 5th update, though the app has been keeping unrestricted since at least some time in March.

Lucid App 2.3.0

Pixel 9 Pro XL, Android 15, April 5 update, the phone switched the Lucid app back to Optimized overnight.

Interesting that we're all Pixels. Bob said earlier he has a Pixel 9, and I'm still on the Pixel 6 Pro waiting for the 10. Also Android 15/April 5th like the rest of you. I'd be surprised if the 8 was actually the difference in yours working, must be something else going on if you're not mistaken.

Possible difference on mine, I just remembered I also turned off the "Manage App if Unused" toggle for this app.

In theory that shouldn't cause it to revert as quickly as everyone is saying it happens, but maybe it is.

I appreciate the thought, however that toggle is off for me as well.

I've also left it on with other apps I mentioned earlier (that I use Unrestricted for without issue) so I don't think it is related. Good to try all the theories though, like Bob said you can't always rely on logic!

Confirming on s24 ultra that I've never seen it revert. Settings in picture if helpful.

Interesting addendum: there is a setting under Apps> Special App Access called "Unrestricted mobile data". I only have 2 apps toggled on this list, Carrier Services and Google Play.

I added LUCID there to test. Whenever it forces itself back to "Optimized" in the setting we've been talking about, it also unchecks itself from this other one as well.
