Android users, can you check this setting? (Unrestricted background battery)

My Pixel 9 Pro XL has remained on Unrestricted since the recent app update. Before the update, it switched back overnight.
That said, even with this mobile key often requires me to unlock my phone before is works. Not just press a button on the phone. Might go back to the fob - then I can leave passive unlock turned on.

Its funny that of the last two posts (besides me), one says that the latest update fixed this problem for them and the other says theirs was working before but the latest update broke it

I think in actuality it's just the RNG of when this setting decides to change itself. The latest update made no difference for me.

I just want to confirm that everyone who's reporting having this problem is on Pixel devices (of course in this forum group - no way to know outside)? But those who are using Samsung (or some other Android phone), haven't seen this specific issue?

I have not. Haven't had to go the "keep open" hack since the last update.

I'm starting a test for the "essential" list as well and will report back. Battery saver is already off for me, and as I indicated earlier I tried Adaptive battery without success.

I had thought the essential list was only relevant when battery saver was actually active, but who knows. We'll see!

Thanks for testing it out! Fingers crossed curious to see if the essential list makes any difference even without battery saver being on. Please keep us posted on your results.

I updated the thread pretty quickly on that one, unfortunately as you would expect it didn't make any difference.

Since my last post in this thread I had given up trying to set it to unrestricted since it always goes back to optimized, but since I am replying again I tested and confirmed it still happens just the same.

Just checked my Pixel 9 pro again, it is still at Unrestricted. I don't know why mine would be different than some others.
However, one time yesterday I had to unlock my phone to get mobile key to work, shortly after it had worked just sitting in my pocket locked.

I mean in the beginning of the thread you reinforced several times that your phone kept changing it to Optimized, and just this past Friday you posted in another thread that you "uninstalled the phone app for the time being".

I think it's pretty clear the app needs to be actively used in order for it to be changed. Its not Android doing it, it's Lucid.

I installed 2.4.1 as soon as it became available and have been using it since.

There's been no change. It was suggested in another thread about two weeks ago, and the person it was suggested to said it switched back to optimized the next day: https://lucidowners.com/threads/aft...proach-software-of-this-car.11626/post-296592

I've never seen anything but and continue to test it which each update.

I have the same phone for anyone else wondering, Deane continues to be the enigma. For everybody else in the world it remains unchanged.

It nearly always unlocks my car in the garage, but generally does not if I exit the car, shop for 5-30 minutes, then return to the car.

That is what this entire thread is about my guy. It changes back to "Optimized" automatically over time for everyone except for DeaneG.

Would any of you would like to retest and report back if anything changed on your end? Just so this thread doesn't continue being pages of DeaneG saying "it's fixed" and me saying "no it's not".

Android Pixel 10 Pro XL here. I never looked at this setting until I saw this post. It was set to Unrestricted.... I think I like it that way because of problems with using the phone as a key. I conclude that nothing is changing the setting.

BTW I report that I am very disappointed in the Pixel 10 Pro XL. The phone freezes frequently (about once a week). I've never had a phone "freeze" before.

Thanks for the report. I'm not sure it's the same thing if you think your app started as Unrestricted as that is not the default setting.

I'm also a Pixel 10 Pro and it changed from Unrestricted to Optimized within a few hours as it has done every day since I've gotten the car. And as I mentioned when I made the thread I have several other location-tracking apps set to Unrestricted without issue.

FWIW the "Unrestricted" setting hasn't solved my problem with needing to bring the Lucid app to the foreground to unlock my car after it's been sitting for a few minutes.

In the billion tests I've done after manually setting it to Unrestricted (before it switched back) I'm not sure I've noticed any improvements either. It's just the principle at this point, and the fact that I know it's been helpful with other apps.

I generally press the power button on my phone through my pocket if I've been standing outside the car for too long like a doofus. That usually works. The times where I have to open the app means I'll also have to press the unlock icon, and then enter the PIN in the car (aka Mobile Key never connects at all, even though the Lucid media Bluetooth does).
