First Dream Edition Delivery!

Wondered at the new member’s name involved in this ‘delivery’

What’s in a name?

Osyrus = Osiris

(fyi this name in English is a transliteration of hieroglyphics)

From Wikipedia

“Osiris

Ancient Egyptian god of the afterlife…

He was classically depicted as a green-skinned deity…

Osiris was at times considered…

brother and husband of Isis

Other cute facts: a religious cult worshipped him, his story includes the scattering of his body parts to distant lands - all of which were later recovered except for his genitalia.

And of course Isis ( the Egyptian goddess) has nothing to do with ISIS. Except that many believe playing word games with alliterations to mythology elevates their impact.

Time to take a decaf break

Well what we really should have done was vet the posters by asking for a VIN to prove it. Shame on us I guess, may have all been a ruse.

I understand requiring someone to verify ownership if their posts have already raised credibility questions, but I'm not sure we should expect you moderators to ask someone for a VIN in order to post the first time.

Why would someone lie about the delivery tho? What’s to gain here?

Fanboy trolls who support another brand might try such a stunt. However, the OP posted more details about the planned delivery as well as why Lucid might have approached him to take first delivery, and they seemed fairly credible on their face. So I'm not quite ready to dismiss this as a scam just yet.

If any of this is true, I think the underlying question is why Lucid's plans to stage a CEO press event around a delivery by their self-imposed end of April deadline came down to only having one vehicle going to one customer.

And if it's not true, the question becomes why did customer deliveries not start by the end of April as Lucid said they would. After all, it has been four months now since that first "start of deliveries".

Or maybe they did, and the press release just hasn't landed yet . . . .

See, @hydbob, requiring the OP to verify before posting would have deprived us of all this juicy detective work. 🕵️‍♂️

I done did some detective work and all I can say is that the answer will show up either Monday night or Tuesday as a public release. As I don’t work for Lucid my data is non vetted, add salt as necessary.

And I have been April fooled before so I guess other spice may be necessary.

I did Vette a little harder this time…just a little.

Getting anxious so I emailed my assigned sales specialist to see what updates, if any, he could provide. I recieve the following response to my Dream order.

"You are in the queue for VIN matching, which means our order operation team will find a VIN or Pre-VIN Gravity match your configuration or find the closest one to make a small adjustment to match it. I have 2 customers’ orders with final VINs already."

So hopefully we see more vehicles getting assigned shortly! Or maybe it was a canned response, I've seen similar from other manufacturers.

It sounds as if Lucid is not planning production around order configurations but is instead setting up production plans and then matching orders to them. And that sounds weird to me, especially for a limited production run where the chances of ending up with order/production mismatches increases.

One of my GDE orders is the most common configuration -- Aurora Green/Tahoe/7-seater -- yet I still don't have a VIN despite being an Air Dream owner since 2021 and among the very early Gravity GT orders that switched to a Dream order immediately upon those orders opening.

I think production is the same for all options most of the way through the line aside from paint, so it would make sense to me that they might just nab a random green chassis off the line for you and make a DE out of it.

I had been thinking that destination for delivery might have something to do with production sequencing. But then someone posted here that he has a VIN and a delivery window for a GDE coming to Miami, the same destination as my order. This is his first Lucid, and I've been a Lucid owner since late 2021 -- something that Lucid is still showing on their website as giving first priority for deliveries. And he's doing a trade whereas I am a straight cash buyer, which should make the transaction simpler.

So I'm really at a loss to figure out how all this is working. It seems completely random.

Maybe because I’m trading in my Cybertruck (rivalry brand), and they want to make the press out of it? I’m actually amazed that I can get a VIN assigned so soon myself…

That would be my guess. Random but hopefully quick enough for all of the DEs.

This was a subject mostly of curiosity for me. However, a tennis acquaintance who heard we were trading our Tesla for one of the Gravities approached us about buying it if we would sell it right away. So we did the deal yesterday. This hasn't made getting one of the Gravities earlier a matter of urgency, but it is bringing a delay a bit closer to home.

Also, I've been hoping all along that we would get one Gravity enough ahead of the other that we could drive it enough to be absolutely certain about getting the second one. That didn't seem an issue when we were going to do one Dream and one Grand Touring, but deciding to go with two Dreams instead compressed things a bit.

If it was up to me I would parade you with your 2 DEs and your air in the background, that’s customer loyalty, that’s commitment to excellence.

Oh, I probably annoy them too much for that.

Although we could capture a shot of our Model S Plaid being driven away while we climb into the Lucids.

That's what I don't get.
Seriously!
Someone with an ADE buying TWO GDEs!?

All three Lucids in a photo shoot!
@marqie we've got the perfect victim for you.

Maybe leave the Model S Plaid sale out of it.
Not trying to start a Lucid-Tesla feud or draw the attention of Musk and Trump; let's keep Lucid off that radar.

I agree and was only kidding, as I wouldn't agree to be filmed, anyway. But Lucid is already poking that dog with a stick by boasting that half of all Lucid orders are coming from people switching from Tesla.

As for @Osyris, he's also disappeared from the Reddit thread where he first reported he was taking delivery of Dream Edition No. 1, although people have asked him to report on the delivery.

If he's out of the country, he seems to be somewhere beyond the reach of the internet. I've done a lot of international travel for business and pleasure but never found myself unable to send out a quick message if I wanted.

He’s the real deal, Lucid is just keeping things under wraps. They tend to over secret stuff…should have something by end of Tuesday.
