Both Edmunds and LeaseHackr posted favorable posts on the Lucid Air today 😍

It's probably sour grapes on my part but Edmunds absolutely panned the Air in their first review. Now that the Air is gaining in popularity, it feels like a "Air has gotten so much better" than "we got the first review wrong" kind of apology...

My grandpa loves Edmunds!

To be fair when it first came out the software was unfavorable to say the least.

In fairness, having spent three weeks and almost 750 miles in a very early 2022 AGT loaner and comparing that to my 2025 AGT, the overall quality level does feel significantly better in the 2025. The 2022 feels like it was built by an aspirational start-up company reaching for the stars and getting pretty darn close (although I never experienced UI 1.0 which sounds like it wasn't even very close!). The 2025 feels like it was built by an experienced company producing world class automobiles.

Us humans are highly impressionable and even just based on two simple measures -- the 2022's doors failed to unlock predictably well over 50% of the time upon approach whereas my 2025 has been flawless in this regard and the panel gaps on the 2022 were painfully bad whereas my 2025 is darn near perfect -- the impression one gets is that the current version of the Air is a much better put together automobile. Does that mean that the 2022 was a bad car and deserved the initial Edmunds review? Knowing what we know now, absolutely not. However, we all now have the benefit of seeing where Lucid has gone and how things have developed. When the original review was done (and if one of your roles as a reviewer was to protect your readers) perhaps a degree of "Buyer Beware," was in order. Think Fisker...

I hear what you’re saying, but I’m almost certain that wasn’t why Edmunds reviewed it the way they did initially. It’s fairly notable that no other reviewers universally panned it the way they did.

Yeah the original complaints were entirely focused on build quality and the tech and gadgets and completely ignored the actual car hardware, driving sophistication, EV range and efficiency, performance, space etc.
