Interesting... I've heard because the car is heavy, many tires are not suitable. The Pirelliis and Lexanis both have a load index of 99, so🤷‍♂️. This is the first time I've heard about Lexani - where can you buy them in SoCal (and please don't say Walmart)
 
I usually order Lexanis directly from Amazon or eBay reputable sellers. Right now, Amazon deals on Lexani 245/40ZR20 are better than great. I have a local tire shop that charges me $25 a tire for balance and replacement, albeit you can order mobile service from Amazon for the same price.

Where can you get this?
I just checked the Lucid website....because I was bit by a flat tire this weekend.....with my 3yr old niece in tow!
But I don't see anything available anymore.
I'm really perturbed this fancy vehicle left me stranded with a kid due to some minor road debris I didn't even see.

Best bet for this could be to get an ordinary vehicle, then you won't be as perturbed when it has a flat.

Seriously though, I don't see it on Lucid's store either. Might be worth a call to customer service to ask if it's just out of stock. Any regular pump-n-goo kit will work as well, but you'll need a 12V extension cord to have the pump reach all four corners.

However, these kits only work for puncture flats, not pinch flats that you can get from hitting a pothole.

It has been 4 days, the tire is holding pressure, there is no vibration or anything unusual while driving. I'm thinking there is no need to replace the tire. I'll keep the two new tires I've ordered till I get a more serious flat that can't be plugged.

Well, the plugged tire lasted, along with the rest of them, 32K miles and got replaced with another set of Michelins - the two I bought a year go and the two more bought right before the replacement

America’s Tire / Discount Tire. They own TireRack, but TireRack doesn’t issue tire certificates (the magic words for tire insurance).

And, just a note for others, AT/DT will let you buy certs for tires you already own. They just inspect them briefly.

I don't remember and can't check now since we're on vacation, but some run-of-the-mill kit I picked up at AutoZone
 
Got a nasty one today on a Sunday. Lucid couldn’t swap in the field and wanted to tow to the nearest service center 60 miles away. I declined and called AAA to tow it to a tire shop 3 miles away. Because it’s Sunday and shops don’t stock the 20s, will need to wait. I am guessing since Lucid isn’t performing the service, they won’t offer a loaner.

This is not bad at all because the hole is not on the side of the tire, I have never bought into the paradigm of replacing an EV tire merely because it is flat. You can easily repair it and save the dough. Just ask the shop to do a cold vulcanization or a chemical cure process to repair your tire. You can even order a tire patch kit (rope plugs or sticky strings) from Amazon and patch it without removing the tire, albeit it is more reliable to ask the tire shop to do a cold patch for you. Word of caution, do not let the shop patch the tire by applying heat, that can damage internal foam of EV tire. Most shops do vulcanization without applying heat anyways.

1. Lack of Tire Pressure Alerts: Surprisingly, the car's system does not warn of low air pressure. I scoured the system settings but found no option to monitor tire pressure, which seems like a significant oversight. Maybe it is there, but I can't find it.

2. Flat Tire Ordeal: Fortunately, I discovered the flat tire before hitting the highway. After contacting Lucid, they promptly arranged for a tow. However, it took five hours for the towing company (not Lucid's fault) to transport my car to the Lucid service center.

3. No Repair Policy: The next day, Lucid service center informed me that their tires cannot be repaired once they go flat, a policy that took me by surprise. They did not communicate that to me before purchase.

4. Tire Replacement Cost: Replacing the flat with a new tire costs nearly $700. Before towing fees.

Given these experiences, I have a few questions for the community:
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring: How can one check the tire pressure in a Lucid vehicle? It seems like most modern cars have a way to alert the driver about tire issues.
  • Towing Necessity: Is towing to a Lucid service center the only option in case of a flat? Are there any alternatives?
  • Tire Repair: Is it true that Lucid tires cannot be repaired?
  • Tire Insurance: Has anyone had any experience with third-party tire insurance worth recommending?

RULES ON TIRES:
-Tires ( and breaks ) are and will forever be considered wear & tear items that are NOT covered under the vehicle’s manufacturer warranty.

Period.

-Lucid DOES NOT pay or cover payment for tires if vehicle is towed to a Lucid Service Center. You would essentially be over paying for a tire and installation.

SOLUTION: enroll in a wheel and tire package or warranty program (3rd party or through trusted vender from Lucid) . They will usually cover tire, rim & sometimes installation and tow. You can negotiate your contract.
Ride w/ a spare tire with rim installed already.
Tire kits - will only bandaid the situation until you can drive slow to a tire shop . Not a permanent solution .

Sidewall damage or rim damage to the tire = the tire is DONE.
Punctures to the tread might be able to be patched in on certain occasions - case by case.
Sidewall bubbles or cracks = tire is DONE.

If you experience a flat tire:

Call your AAA or Roadside Assistance company
Call the Wheel and tire package/warranty.
(you may have towing privileges in the contract).
Car insurance company
(some of them tow vehicles for free or low price depending on distance.)
State police if all else fails.

Call the tire shops around in the area before towing to ensure they have your size tire in stock before towing.

Price it out and make your move.

WATCH THOSE POTHOLES!
