Things I miss about my 2020 Tesla S Long Range

Pure Grand Touring
Firstly my Air Grand Touring is a big step up from the Tesla S and feels more like a luxury car. However there were some functions on the Tesla that I miss.
1. Being able to raise the suspension when navigating potholes, difficult dips and parking over curbs. The Tesla would remember locations and automatically raise the suspension.
I am still learning about the height of the front bumper on the GT and have to look carefully at the height of curbs.
2. The Tesla Homelink would automatically open the garage door from 40ft (you could adjust this distance) and automatically fold the mirrors.
I have to drive to within 10 ft of the garage door before the Homelink will respond and fold the mirrors myself.
3. The Tesla had the ability to leave the door unlocked at the home location.
4. The Tesla had the wiper functions on the steering wheel, like every car I have ever driven. I am not thrilled that I have to locate a button on the cockpit to start or change the wipers.
Traveling at 65MPH on freeways in the rain and having to look down for the right place to adjust wipers seems to be an action ladened with danger.
5. The hatchback style of the Tesla made it far easier to load and unload the full storage capability, including carrying a bike without having to remove a wheel.

However, just about everything else is an upgrade, including the CEO! Love the car.

  1. The car is definitely low, though I haven't had too much problems with curbs, sidewalks or speedbumps, just need to take them slow.
  2. I still haven't gotten homelink to work with my garage door.
  3. I don't mind that the doors lock automatically after a while, though when I'm charging it I have seen them remain unlocked for hours/days.
  4. I just set the wipers to auto and find they do a pretty good job of coming on when they need to. Otherwise I just use the mist function on the steering wheel stalk.
  5. I carry a bike too and manage to fit it in my Lucid without removing the wheel (it's a fatbike). I lower the rear seat first then slide the back of the bike into the trunk via the rear door; the front of the bike fits snugly between the rear and front seat.

I also miss physical buttons for vehicle functions. Unfortunately this is becoming a trend across the industry; the exterior lighting controls for my '24 GMC Canyon are touch screen only. I agree it's dangerous in many instances.

As a former Model S owner, auto Homelink, auto door unlock, and the hatchback, are all items that I've missed. Homelink auto presents on the Lucid screen when I pull in to my driveway so I would think this could be done fairly easily. My only gripe with the hatchback on the Telsa was not having a divided place to put anything messy or smelly (food). I had a '22 and the frunk in the refresh was small and on an agle, so you couldn't put a pizza or other spillable items in it.
