SiriusXM requires frequent reboots: normal?

I'm running the v2.54 software now .
After the update in late November SXM was working. I did notice that I lose WIFI signal strength in my garage and ocassi9nally lost the signal for SXM... I might need to add a mesh network in my garage to boost the wifi signal strenth... 🤔

This is the second time in 2 weeks my Sirius radio stopped playing. The first time I did the 2 button plus pedal reboot. A few minutes later it started to work

Yesterday, it worked when I pulled into my garage. Next morning (3/16/25) it said no or slow internet and would not play when I drove away, nor my entire drive.

I did not reset since I wanted to see what would happen over time.

I never have probelems here with Verizon, nor my nearby friends with AT&T wireless.

Lucid Air Pure 2025 2.6.2

This happens almost daily for me and is one of my biggest issues with the car, it’s so annoying to be driving and not have any audio capability…no excuses

It is intereting to see the poor (and frequently failing) decisons made by Lucid:

1 - Stylish key fod without buttons, and an inadaquate battery, instead of what you would find on a $25 K Hyundi.

2 - Internet Cellular Sirius radio instead of the Satelitte based shark fin antenna radio you would find on a $25 K Hyundi.

From the guidelines:
  • Refrain from “entitlement” attitudes by avoiding narratives such as, “I spent $xxxxxx on this car so therefore…,” etc.
Moreover, Sirius/XM was never promised or announced on the Lucid Air; they never claimed to have a satellite antenna, nor did they ever ship with one. When the car shipped, there was no support for Sirius whatsoever, and they added it via cellular due to consumers wanting it. Complaining that the car doesn’t have a feature they never announced it would have is not particularly helpful.

There are hundreds of things the Lucid does better than your “$25k Hyundai”

I have to say that I've grown to like the Lucid internet SiriusXM much more than I do the satellite version I have in my other cars. There are more stations available. It doesn't stop playing when you're under a bridge or in a parking garage. And the songs start at the beginning when you change stations. The only request I would make at all is to have an easier way to switch between stations.

I also prefer the cellular based SiriusXM to the satellite antenna I have in some other cars I have owned and still own. When listening to a live event like News you can easily skip back to the end of the previous commercial real and then skip pasted the next commercial break to catch up to live. I love it.

I have far more and longer duration dropouts with the streaming implementation than with the satellite radios in our other cars. Also, at least 50% of the time when I have a dropout the SiriusXM app just get stuck and doesn't recover until I let the car go to sleep or preform a reset.

Daily audio issue pics?

Has anyone noticed a pattern? For example, do troubles occur at switch between home wi-fi internet and cellular internet when leaving home? Does turning off wi-fi make it more reliable? We need to help Lucid fix this.

P.S. - I just looked at the car sticker for my 2025 Pure. I was definetly promised 'Sirius/XM with 3 month trial subscription.' (I later signed up for a year.)

only pattern I have noticed is when I put the car in "D"

I have seen all sorts of "Huh?" behavior in XM...

Most common - internet connectivity issue leads to "choose another station" - which makes no sense but sometimes works....
.... Switching to Spotify sometimes works -- but SXM never recovers until park/exit or reboot.
... sometimes this just kills SXM until I park/exit or I manually reboot.
... sometimes (I think it's when I use the mobile app to unlock or fire up the hvac), I get no audio from any streaming source. Only fix is to reboot.

DennisIS: Thanks very much - that is useful!

I turned off my wi-fi and will see what happens on my next drive.

All: Do you have this issue on any wireless internet based channel other than Sirius/XM?

I agree. I think the internet version is actually better.

What you are describing is a “feature” of internet radio, the difference in what we are highlighting is the cellular choice/connectivity issues a significant number of others are experiencing.

Perhaps the argument could be made that I live in a more suburban area of WNY, but just about a year ago I lived in Kansas City MO dead in the middle of the city and still had terrible streaming service in the car, which I have wondered if it’s more of an equipment limitation that service…

I have been digging:

Thus far I learned that AT&T is the wireless carrier providing the connectivity. I also tried other suggested methods, (other than rebooting) to try to restore. That included turning off wi-fi, switching to Spotify, changing stations. None worked to bring back Sirius.

IMPORTANT: I do not know if this issue has been seen by any other Lucid wireless music service users. I hope someone responds. If not, then its only the Lucid Sirius implementation.

In the back of my head, I also keep thinking of a long shot that AT&T might be having capacity problems and restricting bandwidth. But that's a long shot.

Today I will reboot, and see how long that lasts.

Add me to the list of those that prefer the internet version. Many more channels some of which my wife misses in her 25 BMW i5.

The other thing I’ll add is that the frequency of service interruptions is far more infrequent than it used to be. In fact I’d say the issue seldom occurs anymore and when it does it’s usually at one location where the signal loss is predictable. Admittedly the cellular signal is good there (a shopping mall)so I don’t know why it occurs there.

If Att were restricting the network for the cars, the. Lucid would def be aware of this. There’s no way they would be able to do that, they have SLA’s and agreements in place the issue has to be in the technical debt.

Lucken: True - I have had known spots of a quarter mile or less with service interruptions. The service always comes back when I pass them. But, what I'm experiencing now is sudden permanent failure over many miles and many days, where it has worked in the past. This has happened twice now. I will keep digging anbd reboot again today.

I agree. It is a very, very, very long shot. But I have seen cell cut off elsewhere in areas of very, very high peak demand. But it would come back after the peak. I will keep digging
