A question... I have had automatic battery preconditioning initiate right away when I entered my local EA station into Lucid's navigation system. It's only about 15 minutes away. However, on a road trip last weekend, I entered an EA station a couple hours away, and expected the battery preconditioning to start when I was about 20-30 minutes away from the station, but it did not do so. I waited until the navigation said I was less than 15 minutes away before giving up and initiating the battery preconditioning myself. I tried the same thing on the way home, with the same result. Does automatic battery preconditioning only work when navigating to a local charging station, such that it starts right away?

It should do it all the time. Usually it starts around 40 minutes before the estimated arrival. Maybe your battery level was already too low?

No, I still had around 35% remaining. Interesting that it starts that far in advance.
It takes quite a while to warm a ton of batteries.

Are you searching it up using the charging tab or just inputting the address? You need to navigate to the station through the charging tab in order for it to precondition automatically.

The LUCID navigation is not smart enough to map an address to a charging station. Rightfully so, because many chargers are located in shipping malls where one can go for shipping by entering an address and not charge. To avoid that confusion and keep the intent of the visit clear, Lucid navigation has a Charge Tab.

To initiate the action for charging, there are two ways:
1. You put a destination and let Lucid add a charging station on the way as a stop. (Note: You can pick Electrify America ONLY in settings)
2. You can add the destination from the Charging Tab and select one on your route.

In both cases the preconditioning starts automatically.

I have set my car to automatically precondition the battery when navigating to a charging station. This morning, I * for sure * put my local EA charging station in the app (not just the address), about 7 miles away, and began navigation. However, if I hit the charging tab on the pilot panel, it looks as though preconditioning is not running. Is it running, but the charging tab is not aware of it?

I mostly care because I plan to navigate from EA station to EA station over the course of about 800 miles, but was a little concerned that the navigation would consume battery power by preconditioning the entire time, instead of just when it was getting close to the next station. If I can't see whether or not it's running on the charging tab, how do I know what is or is not going on?

I've read on the forum that the navigation is smart enough to only turn on preconditioning when it is x miles (or minutes) away from the station, but it would be comforting to verify that one way or the other.

Any suggestions, other than to stop asking stupid questions? :=)

On my last road trip preconditioning started about 45 minutes before destination charger.

In my experience, it starts 45 minutes from the charger. It always tells you when it turns on. So, if you don't want it on after you get the notification, you can turn it off manually to conserve battery

Thanks, but how did you know that? On the charging tab, or did it display elsewhere? I was only 15 minutes from my station, but saw no sign that preconditioning had started?

Thanks, but what notification? Where does it appear?

Judging from the two replies I've received, perhaps this feature only works if you are navigating to a charging station more than 45 minutes away.

Not sure about that. But I have had the experience of navigating to a charger and it not turning on. But somehow it had the wrong address and did not turn on when it should have. This was just 2 days ago

Interesting. I know I've made the mistake of putting in the address, instead of sending the station from the app to the car. Well, I'm happy to know it's not preconditioning the entire time in the background, even if I end up having to turn it on. I see you're in Buffalo. I'll bet there are not a lot of Lucids there. I was born and raised in Batavia.

Auto preconditioning only works if the Lucid map has added charging stations to your route. You can add them manually or delete them manually.

It also works if you navigate directly to a charger, provided you select a charger and not input an address.
