Massive insurance premium increase

I carry a high comprehensive deductible -- $2,000 -- as I've never had a comprehensive claim in over 50 years of driving. Liability limits are pretty standard at 250K/500K/100K.
Yes. 250K/500K/100K are pretty standard as a baseline for an umbrella policy.

Just got a renewal notice from StateFarm, and my rate did not go up at all. I do think this is going to vary quite a bit by region.

Mine is up a good bit. Just got my renewal.. up about 30%.

I got a significant increase from Travelers. Progressive quoted me a rate similar to what I paid last year with Travelers. I will not be surprised if next year Progressive renewal has a significant increase.

Thanks guys, great way to put a damper on the evening. After seeing this thread, I ran the numbers at my carrier, USAA. I was so excited about the purchase, had not focused on insurance. Had not yet added my "new to me" 2023 Touring since it gets shipped on Monday. Looks like the Lucid will add at least 1400 per year. Comp was cheaper than my S7, Collison was double!

Another data point as my 6 month renewal just came up. I'm currently with Progressive in Chicago and my renewal quote went up about 30% as well.

Allstate has applied for a rate increase in NJ citing the rising average price for cars and increased expense of expense of repairing cars. Related to this for BEVs is an article the other day about how often insurance companies are declaring Teslas totaled rather than trying to repair them Because of the way the battery is integrated as a structural element.
I’d ditch Allstate if you can. They’re the parent company for Esurance which I have, they won’t pay Lucid labor rates or extend rental vehicles for delays they caused. I’m filing a complaint against them with my state insurance commissioner Monday as the car has been in the shop more than 5 weeks and they haven’t even approved the supplement and aren’t returning phone calls or emails. If the insurance commissioner route doesn’t get me anywhere I’m going to have to litigate. Hollis Auto Body, the only Lucid certified shop in New England, said they were a nightmare to deal with, hands down the worst insurer they’ve ever handled a claim with and recommended I get rid of them ASAP.

Hummm.... you guys made me look. Liberty Mutual with $1000 deductible :
$ 4600 for Air GT
$ 1800 for '17 Mazda 6
$ 1250 for '14 BMW 328 (no collision no comp. kid under 25)

also have umbrella and homeowner's with them.

Yeah insurers are getting wise. The certified Lucid shop my car is at is a certified Audi, Aston Martin, Porsche Tesla and McLaren shop as well. Lucid labor rates are the same as Aston Martin and McLaren, they had to go to lengthy special training to learn how to work on the Lucid. The shop does a ton of Audi work, they had 10 Lucids when I was there but even more Audis, had a couple R8s. Apparently there’s special aluminum shaping machine they have that you need to keep the warranty for these cars.

Finally got approved for Geico! Had to call them a few times because they sent me letters requiring documents and saying my quote would canceled if I don't respond in ~4 days. Didn't get the mail until a full week later lol. For my Lucid and 2013 Mazda3 it's $1515 vs $2410 at Wawanesa (previously $1641).

Good deal. I’m switching back to GEICO the minute I have my car back, which should be tomorrow, it’s $340/month for the Lucid GT and wife’s Subaru, cuz I live in Rhode Island. People here drive like level 22 of Twisted Metal video game. That’s with homeowner insurance discount through Liberty Mutual.

As soon as I read that I instantly imagined a Lucid equipped with side missiles. Can't think of a special ability for it though

I ended up keeping home insurance with Wawanesa but it will increase by $200 from $750 annual, still cheaper than what I was getting at Liberty Mutual

I am curious about these quotes. Comparing apples to apples and oranges to oranges are these quotes just the liability portion? Liability plus comprehensive? What about uninsured motorist, etc. I am not suggesting that one can do everything...too many variables. I am just wondering what the variables are here.

I wonder if this is regional. I'm in Cleveland OH and my full coverage with Progressive just went down at my 6 mo renewal. The new rate was $584 for 6 months, which is still higher than what I paid for my Tesla S, but my insurance co that I have my house and other cars with doesn't cover Lucid's yet.

I usually opt for photon torpedoes :) Of course, when I drove from Delaware to Long Island NY a few weeks ago, I had used up all my torpedoes in the first half-hour :)

I'm with Allstate and my Lucid policy went up about 20% but the policy for our 2020 Jeep went up 35% and is $130 every 6mths more than the Lucid with same coverage on each. Overall still $600/6mths cheaper than what Progressive quoted me 6 months ago for both.
