Does that mean Lucid can really capitalize in Tesla Mega-Charger instead? So as Lotus and Hyundai EVs?
Supposedly the Tesla V4 chargers are a 1000 volts which will work will for all cars with 800V or more architecture. For federal funding the chargers have to be 920V minimum so Lucid will be able to charge without the DC to DC conversion.
 
Still limited to 50Kw on V3 chargers. It sure when V4 chargers are going to show up which are rumored to be 1000v
Agree, but I will take 50kW over nothing any day. Also, I hope it spreads out non- Lucid owners from the EA stations making more availability for us and less wear and tear.
 
On the V2/V3 superchargers it will max out at 50kw.
Not great, but better than the charge rate you can get at a broken/non-functional EA station. And even when EA is working, they can be horribly slow. The one EA station near me is being throttled and everyone is reporting on PlugShare charge rates below 50 kW. Which was my experience when I last used that location.
 
Yeah so here’s my experience charging the Lucid on a Tesla supercharger at Brewster NY this AM: the cables are too short! Your only option is to pull in sideways and block 3 chargers, or find a spot that allows side parking, which luckily there was one free as you can see in my pic that @hydbob posted. When I pulled up, Marques Brownlee was there in his cool red silk Rivian, I think he got 120kw? Super nice guy, he showed me how to get it working on the Tesla app. It’s pretty intuitive to set up once you pick the charger and put in your credit card. You have to push the Tesla dock inwards on the charger like a ball-point pen, then it pops out with the CCS adapter attached. Then you plug in and that’s it, super easy, worked quickly on the first try. That part was a nice contrast to EA. While I was there Tom Moloughney pulled up in his Lightning to make a video, so we all chatted about the Rivian and Lightning, he also could barely plug the lightning in, he actually had to touch his bumper to the post to get it to reach so I gave him my spot after I had got enough juice to get back home. Tom was also a super nice guy and made a little clip with me and the Lucid so maybe that will end up in whatever he posts. Suffice it to say, there’s no reason to use the Tesla V3 charger unless you’re out of faster options. It’s also .43/kWh, the most expensive option for the slowest experience. 👎 I think Tesla owners also are not going to be very welcoming…

Thanks for the update and making it first to a Supercharger! How cool is it that you meet Marques Brownlee and Tom Moloughney! I'll watch for the video! I follow both of them. Jealous lol. I guess Tesla will have to add an extension cord to their online shop if thats even possible.

Thank you for your sacrifice; guess it was a good ride from RI to NY! The cable length and charger positioning is going to be difficult at best for awhile. I suspect only new chargers will be adapted with longer cables and appropriate spacing. CCSing spots will be the new ICEing for Tesla owners!! I'll be on the lookout for you in Tom's video.
 
Someone has confirmed the 50kw limitation on Tesla super charger. If Lucid is watching this deserves high priority retrofit for owners to reach 150kw like the Rivian.

I've been told it is limited by the DC/DC converter architecture due to the Wunderbox being 900V. I'm not sure a software OTA can address that. @blueice89 I know you've had a lot of opinions about what Lucid should and shouldn't be doing, and this is another one. I'm sure if it's possible for Lucid to modify the charging speed at a Tesla V3 DCFC they will, but I don't know if it's possible. The upcoming V4 superchargers may be a different story...

Yeah I guess they both had the same idea as me, it was the first day it was open to CCS cars (I think Kyle's dad went there in the middle of the night last night and was the first person to charge a CCS car on Tesla V3). It was rather funny pulling up and seeing Marques filming already and then Tom pulls up 10 minutes later. I gotta say the Lightning is pretty impressive in terms of overall capability. It's a true truck that can do damn near anything, it can power your house, it can charge your other EV, BlueCruise ADAS is currently better than most ADAS out there. The only downside is the car itself actually doesn't display the kW speed as you're charging which is weird, and of course the efficiency is terrible. Tom told me he got 1.7mi/kwh on the way there. It was 30F, and I got 3.6 mi/kwh! I was doing it as a 70mph range test, here's the pic to prove it. This was taken before I started pre-conditioning the battery so it was about 20 miles short of where the charger was at. It's a reminder of how awesome this car is, I literally got more than double the efficiency as the Lightning. Tom commented on how much he loves the Lucid and how blown away by it he was when he did his range test.

I'm guessing he meant more of a Wunderbox upgrade that can convert 400v to 900v at higher rates. While interesting, the price wouldn't be cheap and it solves a temporary problem.

That's not viable. It would cost several thousand dollars per car even if possible. Just use the existing CCS network until V4 superchargers are installed.

More and more cars will go to 800V architecture. Anyone who wants to play in the CCS charging space needs to be at 900 volts. 800 volts is already on the Tesla semi, it is likely on the roadmap for their cars but Tesla charging infrastructure will need to be upgraded in order to support it. I see it as a problem for Tesla to roll out V4 chargers, not a problem for Lucid to resolve with Wunderbox upgrades.
 
400V CCS charging stations are obsolete and have been for many years. Tesla will eventually catch up.
 
Perhaps this can be part of wunderbox v3? We are on v2 right now I think.
No sense spending money adapting to Tesla's legacy hardware. The federal requirement for CCS in the USA is 920V minimum to get NEVI funding. Tesla will either meet it, or miss out on their portion of five billion federal dollars. My guess is that we'll see 1000V V4 superchargers later this year with Magic Dock, and longer cables.
 
Tesla announced on their investor call that the V4 Superchargers will have longer cables. Was not really paying attention the rest, but caught the longer cable part.
