Just here to claim a micro record, if anyone is counting:

1. First to install aftermarket wheels
2. First to go with a square setup - 22x10 all around
3. First to have a set of Gravity wheels on my NYC balcony

That’s probably enough as what comes next will probably be less exciting, like first on the highway watching efficiency, listening to extra tire noise, and hoping for no rubbing or vibration.

Anyway, here are some basic specs followed by some photos:

Wheels:

22x10 with 30 offset, 5x120 weighing around 32lb and rated for 2200 (flow formed barrels)

Tires:

Michelin All Season 4

Front:

265/40/22

Rear:

285/40/22

Now, why would I go and do this with so many options available from Lucid?

Well, the word efficiency comes to mind. Lucid needs to be efficient, I don’t. I want performance.

But but…what about the 22/23 large wheel offering? Well, it’s a gorgeous design but as of this writing getting tires is a pain, summer or winter, and then it’s a $3500 up charge.

Well, I spent around $3500 anyway on the new set, but I got to keep the 20/21 too, so that maths.

Now my new favorite performance metric is the tire patch size that touches the road, for the Michelins it’s 9.7” front and 10.5” rear. Small and middle Lucid options are both under 9” and the large rear wheel jumps that to a full 10”. As I said, they are going for efficiency.

The small tire earns a government rating of A for traction, that is a wet traction rating, while the medium gets a B (that’s worse than stock Michelin tire before Lucid “fixed“ it). And the large gets an AA, so that’s good. The Michelins earn an AA as well and are really good in the snow, I put 20k on them with my previous vehicle. Full disclosure: they are not good on ice…got a video to prove it.

If you got this far…I am happy to answer your questions and will eventually come back with actual driving feedback as I wonder what will happen at higher speeds. If you don’t see me here, I will definitely be commenting on Facebook in my Got Boost group, it’s just easier to share photos and videos there.

First Gravity that had to get a balance twice?
First Gravity that left Pep Boys on only 2 wheels that were balanced?

Right.

The sentence below refers to the Michelin All Season 4 tire

“The Michelins earn an AA as well and are really good in the snow, I put 20k on them with my previous vehicle.”

Those are some bad a$$ wheels. Makes the car look very aggressive.

Right.
Love the look, it's even more Counter-Minivan, and then going into deep weeds on contact patch to get your Gravity the personalized drive feeling and looks you want!

This has me thinking, I wonder if you can put Sapphire wheels and tires on the Gravity.

Your wheels and tires are exactly flush with the fenders!!! Very nice.
For others like me sticking with factory 22/23" Aether wheels,
do you have a recommendation on wheel spacer sizes?

Someone did the math and said 20mm

Mine are 20/21mm front to back on top of stock but the tires I am using have a bigger contact patch than the stock PZ5 front and rear.

I think 20mm is a safe choice, as long as the spacers can hold the weight. I personally wouldn’t mess with spacers on something with this much power above 5mm.

They will bolt up, the tires will be wrong and very high chance the wheels will not be rated for the extra weight.

In short, don’t do it unless just for a standing photo shoot.

No minivan here

Just to confirm, your custom wheels have an additional 20/21mm offset compared to stock wheels.

In these days of everything being computer, what (if anything) was needed to tell the Gravity about your new wheel setup?

Absolutely nothing. Chalk was used to make sure TPMS sensors went back into the correct wheels (by location).

The diameter didn’t change, if something needs to change in the software it would be suspension damping not adjustment for tire size as they are more or less the same comparing front to front and rear to rear.

The front to rear is sufficiently different so you can’t use same tire without running risks.

I just went from large wheel and rear middle wheel sizing. It drives well, no vibration, no surprises as far as handling. Efficiency…that’s a story for another day.

So when I swapped wheels with @Jackles about a month ago, I did have to change wheel size and despite the fact that the manual says you should be able to update the wheel size in the app (under settings → general → tires & wheels), for the life of me I couldn't find it nor could anyone else, mobile tech included. I suspect they took it out of the app at some point and haven't gotten around to putting it back yet.

I did eventually get it updated, but it required Lucid HQ to push a custom 3.3.5 firmware to my car specifically. The mobile tech had to file a ticket for it.

But I can attest that about a week of driving w/o the firmware update, the TPMS sensors detected the wheels, the PSIs, everything else correctly. The mean difference, as far as I can tell, is the calculated "rated range" rating, and I'm seeing some wonkiness in the dynamic efficiency as well but none of affect the driving experience.

I made sure TPMS sensors went exactly where they came from and the diameter did not change after the wheel swap. There is literally nothing for me to gain by going to Lucid and asking them to hook me up with front tire from the LARGE set and the rear tire from the MIDDLE option.

What I did does not officially exist.

Right, in your case it shouldn't matter. If anything I was annoyed that what should have been a simple update in the UI (and it's not like the calculations are mind-blowingly different) required literally new firmware that took ~20 min. to download and install.

@037, can you confirm your front setup doesn’t rub against the fender liner when you turn and drive?

If so, I’m going to change my offset to 22x9.5 ET24 instead of ET29.

There is absolutely no rubbing, I looked at the liner and noticed no hits.

I am only at around 100 miles on the setup so this doesn’t guarantee anything but to the best of what I can see, it’s functional!

I’m a record setting machine…

Am I first to bend a wheel and add a bubble to two tires all at once?

Hit a pot hole at 60mph.

Never bent a wheel before and probably only second time I ever had a bubble on a tire.

Nooooo! That sucks.
Hopefully, you still have your OEM wheels/tires.
