Lucid doesn’t need an Elon or RJ, what it needs now is a mature serious well experienced CEO. They just need to control costs while improving customer service. And get the Cosmos out without any issues.

Agee with your point that execution is the key.

Having said that, one must also recognize RJ and Elon had/have the vision to build "adjacencies" around their EV business that stabilized and multiplies their automobile core business. Elon's international reach, batteries for cars and solar, service centers worldwide, etc.. RJ's Amazon delivery trucks, automobile SW are also multi-billion dollar adjacencies.

Lucid, ran by geeky engineers until recently, has none of these adjacencies! It will be a whole lot harder to stay as an independent business!

I think the hiring of Angela Zepeda is excellent news... Marketing has been ill conceived in the past and hindered Lucid's growth. The opportunity to reach a larger audience through a well organized marketing campaign, define Lucid is long overdue. I wish her the best of luck!

As for the comments re EPA mileage I have never taken them in to consideration when choosing a vehicle, combustion engine or EV. I suspect that a large % of most peoples daily driving is well within the range of all EV's available. As for the price of Gas, that's a different consideration!

Truth in advertiszing.....I suggest the readers go see all the CR data.

Tests were done @70mph.

As a percentage, the 2023 Lucid Touring has one of the largest deviations (actual miles vs claim) of the EVs tested. I'd suspect the deviation is even more so @70+mph. Also, the Touring is one of the better trims on the Lucid line up when it comes to efficiency. My AGT, rated at 516-mile range, never got pass 400 actual miles when driver on the highway (I-10/I-5)/

You will also see that many of the German EVs met or exceed their EPA estimated mileage.

Unless there is something else going on I'd actually expect the Gravity (and Air) to do better the higher the MPH. Given that the resistance rises as the square of the velocity (i.e. speed) and the Gravity and Air have good CD's compared to other cars in their class....

Comparing apples-to-apples, 2023 Touring, tested by Car and Driver at highway speed, in this case, 75mph, the results:

You can blame EPA's methdology all day long. But Lucid must know of these discrepancies. I am NOT asking Lucid to rationalize EPA. Informing the buyers of the actual realizable performance should be the right thing to do.

My 3.16 is at 75-90 with occasional bursts to triple digits; while passing in Mexico. On 21’s
I regularly go 330+ with that type of driving and I’m quite pleased.

My 2022 AGT is rated at 516 miles range (referencing the EPA tests).

I drive the Phoenix to Sausalito trip many times, 780 miles. I have NEVERgotten more than 400 miles on a full (100%) charge.

Lucid's range is good, but not nearly as good as they claimed. The EPA extrapolation is faulty and unsubstantiated. EPA tests were done on a dynomoeter.

I am NOT debating the Lucid has good range. The point is, it is not 516 miles on US highways! And it is NOT EPA's fault!

Highway range for any EV is less, you lose regenerative braking and wind resistance.

Between this thread and the Air UX3 thread, it seems we have a lot of people just waiting for Lucid to fail to meet their expectations. Counting down the days even.

In my experience, this usually means it's time to separate your life from this person or organization and move on. Or if you choose to stay with them, do some serious thinking about your attitude.

If you think this is bad, go to a page about Tesla (Reddit); there are literally people crapping on Elon about completely unrelated issues, just to crap on him lol. I actually think most people here are pretty honest; granted, not everyone has the best experience. I, for one, just want the next owner to know what to expect so they don't purchase it expecting certain things and then go on here complaining about it like it's never been told before. For example, lots of people advise against purchasing if you aren't by an SC (myself included), but if that person still chooses to buy it, knowing he's 3 hours away from the closest SC. I can't say I feel bad for him because, for some reason, he expects his experience to be different while all the warnings are there. In reality, I pray his experience is different, but at least he is more prepared for the worst.

In every aspect, there should be good and bad. I actually think this forum does better than most at dictating that. At the end of the day, we are all just here for some fun. I don't take online seriously.

My closest sc is Chicago and I have a traveling service guy. Neither are within 2 hours of me, but so far I’ve had a good experience.
Note though that I didn’t own it for the first 7k miles

Maybe we should ask Angela Zepeda to tackle explaining the silly EPA standards. Here is a simple analogy for average household electricity use:

EPA: Take the average of a few appliances. Turn on your lights+AC for exactly 30% of the day (highway), and only lights for 70% of the day (city), and take the average. You MUST follow these instructions, exactly, and publish these numbers as EPA numbers.

Consumer: I’m running lights+AC for 100% of the day (highway). Why am I not getting EPA numbers (city+highway)? Lucid lied to me.

You will get EPA numbers if you drive like the EPA test cycle. The EPA test cycle is not 100% pure highway driving, so stop trying to apply EPA numbers to pure highway driving. Pure highway range numbers don’t exist except through testing by independent users.

I exceeded EPA numbers and got 3.99 mi/kWh on my ~20 mile trip because my driving was like the EPA test cycle (trip A in attached picture). For pure highway driving, I’m closer to 2.8 mi/kWh, and my long term 3.13 mi/kWh is my personal mix of city+highway (at a faster highway average speed than the EPA’s 48 mph).

There is no EPA standard for manufacturers to publish pure highway driving numbers - it didn’t matter for ICE cars. EPA has not caught up to what we want as EV drivers. Even worse, the EPA has a legacy vs modern standard that leads to different manufacturers publishing EPA numbers that we can’t use to compare across manufacturers - apples and oranges. This is purely an EPA mess.

I’d like to see the marketing spin on this so consumers will stop using EPA as pure highway driving expectations.

The EPA Test also drives 100%-Dead, as in no more energy to move the vehicle, which a consumer never does, and the Gravity's 0% is actually a buffer for emergencies and degradation....
