Why does the Gravity, when in motion on the road, look like it has a "tail dragger" (California look)?

I'm looking into buying a Gravity, but I don't like the look when the front is a lot higher than the rear end.

That looks bad. Is there a way to fix that with the air suspension system?

I don’t see that at all. It’s all the same height if not slightly taller in the back bc of staggered tires (smaller tires up front). There is no means to control the rising or lowering in front or back only. All goes up. All goes down.
 
Post a pic or two, show us what you're seeing? I've heard a lot of mixed feelings on the styling but I don't think I've heard anyone has used the phrase tail dragger..

Strange, I don’t notice any “tail dragging“ effect. But, then again, I spend all my time just enjoying the fantastic driving experience from the driver’s seat. 🤣

I'd never heard of it either, after living through 60 years of car culture in California.
Low riders, sure, beautiful.
Interestingly, several states that aren't at all California have banned tail dragging modifications:
  • North Carolina (Banned in 2021)
  • Virginia (Banned in 2022)
  • South Carolina (Banned in 2023/2024)
  • Tennessee (Effective 2024)
  • Georgia (Effective 2024)
  • Mississippi (Effective 2024)
  • Arkansas (Effective 2025)

So I learned something new - tail draggers used to be popular in 1930's-1950's Ametican cars. Recently, that style has been brought back recently in trucks and SUVs as the "Carolina Squat." - also known as the "Cali Lean" or "Palatka Lean". As @DeaneG noted, this modification has been specifically banned in several states. "The modification is restricted because lifting the front end creates dangerous blind spots, misaligns headlights, and increases rollover and head-on collision risks."
 
For those wondering (I was), Palatka is in Florida.

I don't either... unless I floor it. For those few seconds it's accelerating like a rocket ship, the rear digs in and the front raises up like a speedboat.

Of course, since it hits 100 MPH in like 5 seconds, it's a short-lived effect. :cool:
 
I was on the highway and a Gravity was driving past me, going 70 on the highway amd the back was lower then the front. That is when I noticed it.

I'm not really seeing it, but maybe it's just a perception thing from the way the roof gradually slopes down toward the rear? Here's a screenshot of it in motion in a drag race.

I never heard the term "Carolina Squat", but I remember seeing those monstrosities at the gas pump here. Looked stupid (to me) with the front axle jacked up and the rear axle grounded. Hadn't even considered the safety aspects.

My current annoyance is some guy in my neighborhood with an exhaust system that sounds like a roll of caps going off whenever he decelerates. Has to be another car fad.
 
I think if you're used to SUVs having that blocky-ass square tail, the more aerodynamic teardrop-swoop & squinched rear window of the GGT will of course look like a low-rider.

I happen to love it, except for the placement of the upper brake-light module -- which occludes the horizon in my rear-view mirror...
