Lucid Gravity Grand Tour
Ya know if I can order Pizza, and it tells me where it is in the Prep, cook, complete, deliver, why can't a car company do it. Ever try to email a sales person. They may have 2-4 sales people at their branches, but inside sales is like two people, and you can end up waiting weeks for an update. YES I saw the Order - Process - Delivery in progress, but those are too vague, I want a tracker to tell me if my car is still sitting in Phoenix or enroute so I can actually plan my transition to my new beautiful SUV!

They can do this because they’ve spent more money on the development of the software than the quality of the food! Different priorities I guess!

BMW has a pretty decent system for tracking orders. Tracks through the factory from initial assembly to the delivery to the dock. Then is quiet until it arrives on Port Hueneme (or the equivalent on the east coast) then tracks to the dealer. Only things it was missing (last time I ordered from them) was what ship it was on and then which car carrier. Both of which could be figured out pretty easily since they always use the same carriers. It doesn't help with the wait but is pretty interesting to see where it is in the process. I doubt Lucid will provide such a system until they are large enough to be able to devote a SWE or two to developing it. Right now they have bigger things on their plate.

Would you prefer a detailed order tracker or less bugs in the car software when you get it?

Sorry, but I think comparing the 5-10 minute creation of a pizza with 3-10 ingredients or so is not appropriate for a side by side with any car company - particularly a start up. And yes, Lucid is still a start up. They have thousands of pieces coming from a ton of suppliers and everything has to be managed. Dominos has all their food coming from Sysco (or someone similar) and literally has a conveyor belt for cooking. Pretty easy. Dominos spent millions on their app and Lucid has spent millions (billions?) on robots and assembly line work, etc. No comparison.

SAs have access to fairly general info. They can reach out to the logistics team for more specific info. Regardless, just be patient. Or grab a Tesla or Rivian from their inventory. Or an Air.

Lucid is heavily incentivized to get you the car - especially by end of quarter. And so are SAs. My understanding is SAs get their commissions quarterly…

I'll concede that making the online tracking as easy as tracking a pizza delivery is probably overkill, in my experience thus far, Lucid has been exceptionally poor in communicating with me, actively or proactively. It's not good that the manual page and the software page both show broken links, a problem that has persisted for weeks, perhaps months. It's not good that the login page to get to your dashboard frequently shows "An error has occurred. Please try again later." (just tried right now, got the attached screenshot - at least now I can usually refresh and get a good login screen.) For a period of a week or so, I could ONLY get this error, across multiple browsers and OSs (Safari on iOS, Edge and Chrome on Windows) and couldn't log in.

If they could make up for the bugginess on the site with in-person communication, it would help, but I've had very little luck on this front. My SA was helpful for a time in trying to match me to an inventory vehicle, but never had any real information for me, and would often fail to respond to my emails. I did not receive any calls or emails when either of my orders went to "In Production," and when I inquired by calls and emails about it, it took a week for anyone to get back to me, and what I got was (paraphrased) "I'm on extended personal leave, I've copied my manager here for follow up." The manager never replied! I finally got an intro from @Ron_Burgundy to someone else, who did finally call me (that also took a few days) but I have yet to hear anything else, and my last email to that new person (sent Monday) still has not been replied to. I even went to the studio last week; the only person there said "I'm new here, I don't know how to do anything" and couldn't point me to anyone or anything else.

It sounds like some people have had a good experience with their SAs, and I know they're still a startup, but I just have to call out that some of us are really having a pretty, uhh, subpar customer experience thus far.

"Where's my car?" is a simple question I've not been able to get any kind of answer to, 10 months after my intial order, and over many channels and requests.

Hm; I’ve never seen that error on the website. The release notes and manual, sure, but that’s new to me. 🤷‍♂️

I’m sorry to hear about your experience. It does not echo mine, but is nevertheless not good lol
