What was the first Lucid you saw in person?

For me it was a Red/Platinum Air Grand Touring, I think Dream Edition. I kept seeing it at TJ Maxx! I finally parked next to it to just check it out, I had never even seen one.

Eventually I saw the owner loading some stuff into one day, and stopped to talk to her. She had gotten it as an 80th birthday present!

Other than that I've actually never seen another one around here, but people do stop and look at it all the time.

I had a buddy that works in Saudi Arabia a lot. He must have been the first Lucid Buyer in the state. I went golfing with him and saw how ALL OR HIS CLUBS fit in the trunk. I then got him to give me a tour and I loved it.

The Red GT in Valley Fair in Oct 2021. We almost didn’t stop in, and I was pretty set on a Plaid or R8 (and then when I drove the Plaid, I realized it had no chance compared to the R8).

I was literally talking to an Audi dealer when I stopped in.

Changed my mind 48 hours later, put in a GT res, got my DE invitation Nov 2021, received my DE in Jan 2022.

Oh, and Lucid is my first EV, and its competitor was the R8 haha. So that’s why I laugh when people love to tell me I “just don’t like gas cars” or whatever. I do. Love them.

I just prefer Lucid to any gas car today. But if you put me in an R8 or a Lotus I’m not going to give it back.

Sorry for the digression.

No I get it! Tesla was my first EV. The 3 impressed me. The Y did not. Before that I always had luxury cars and Tesla is not luxury. When Lucid became a thing I realized it was a perfect marriage of the two.

My other car and prior daily is Maserati GranTurismo and love it. You can’t replace the feel of a big V8. And the Maserati luxury and build quality is second to none. However for a daily? Lucid all day.

My red Air DE and a gold one at the Houston service center when I picked it up almost 4 years ago.

My prior daily driver was the predecessor to your car, a Gransport Spyder. An inadvisable purchase and very very fun, a Snickers bar pocket rocket with 400 loud hp.

The Air GT is our fifth EV. First sighting was the prototype at Valley Fair, mid 2021.

I saw a white Air several years ago in a strip center parking lot and I was like "Oh, wow, my first Lucid!" I remember peeking in the windows and wondering what it was like. At the time I was aware of the brand (having been a Tesla owner since 2017) but not much beyond that. Unfortunately, parts of the styling of the Air (in particular the C pillar) are not to my tastes, and I wasn't in the market, so I didn't go too far with it after that.

Lucids are still quite rare here in the Baltimore area. I might spot one a week. There is a nice one at my local club that looks quite good in blue. I have yet to see a Gravity in the wild. (I'm not counting the handful I've seen in the Tyson's parking lot - but even there I haven't seen more than 2 parked at a time) I am wondering if I will be the first owner in my area. Tomorrow! (assuming no PDI glitches)

Nice, just went in site unseen?
Yeah. Car looked great when I got there but the poor delivery guy couldn't get the door handles to stay out! Software version 1.04. :)

The car I traded for our first EV -- a 2015 Tesla Model S P90D -- was a 2011 Audi R8 V10 Spyder. It was my third R8 (following a 2008 V8 coupe and a 2010 V10 coupe), and they were absolutely amazing cars. A front suspension sensor failed on the drive home from the dealer with the first one (a very early production car), and I thought, "oh, crap, what have I gotten myself into." It was the first and last issue I ever saw with any of them.

I had real trepidation seeing it go on the flatbed to be hauled away by Tesla's trade-in contractor . . . but the gloom turned to thrills after the first half hour in the Tesla. I was hooked on EVs and have not bought an ICE vehicle since except for our second Honda Odyssey, a vehicle we needed for friends and family hauling.

And with the Gravity now here, the Honda might soon sail into the ICE sunset, too. TBD
