Yes ...that was awkward. Rolled up to a friend’s place in our new mighty GGT for dinner and I am feeling all futuristic and smug. Fast forward to leaving time and we say our goodbyes, I hop and nopes every single screen is black. Like a total spaceship shutdown. Ambient lights are glowing but the car itself is totally dead. I did notice I could change the fan speeds as I could hear them go up and down. So anyho, I’m just sitting there staring into the void pressing buttons and trying the two finger salute to make it reboot. My host is at the door waving goodbye… five minutes later he’s inside the house watching me from the window and probably wondering why I am refusing to leave his driveway. Finally the screens do light up like nothing happened and I drive off pretending nothing happened. Wife is pissed. And yes I’m on the latest update, 3.3.8. Clearly it comes with ‘Ill leave when I want to leave' mode

Welcome to the World of Lucid. This may be fixed in weeks or may be couple of many more weeks.
 
Awwwkwaaard…I’d be mortified. Good thing your car decided to start up eventually, instead of remaining shutdown and compelling you to send for a tow truck. That would be the ultimate indignity.
 
Sorry you had that experience.

Don't know if you did this or not, but if it happens again, try pressing and releasing the brake pedal.
Or opening/closing the door.
On a few, rare occassions my screens have displayed and briefly gone dark.
Pressing the brake pedal brought them back.
It's like the car knew I was there, but was waiting for me to provide input.

One time the screens did not come back on while out shopping.
This was before I knew about pressing/releasing the brake pedal.
I went back inside and returned after five minutes and everything was fine.
Obviously not what you would want to have done in your instance.

I hope your ownership experience improves.
I've had my GGT for 3 months (3,117 miles) and absolutely love it.
Only one issue (center console replacement).

Yeah did both, opening closing of door and also the brake pedal. This incident reminded me of my old 2017 Tesla Model X days, the gremlins were always there in the beginning but regular updates made it a bullet proof car later on. Still own it with 107,000 miles on it and it drives like a dream like on day 1
 
Next time get out, hop on your left foot 4 times, scratch your right elbow, kick 3 rocks, say 5 Hail Marys, blink at your wife with left eye then right eye, and twirl around in circles for 45 seconds.

I believe that is the official workaround in the manual.
 
Jesus. Ouch. The wife being pissed part is relatable. Reading about these stories makes me more and more hesitant about getting a Gravity. These cars cost way too much money for basic things like starting the car not working 1000% of the time.

Agree. I really wish I was reading all positive reviews to reinforce my decision to hit the order button (because the vehicle itself is so awesome, the luxury aspect, the size, the driving dynamics, etc.) but just ain’t seeing it. Crazy it’s even a close decision to buy given all the issues. Shows how much of a market there is for a vehicle like the Gravity.
 
Some of you are in for a rough ride if your mortified and your spouse is pissed over Lucid software issues. As my kids, its not that deep, take it easy.

I've heard of that one too. Sometimes works for me. I figured he didn't want his friend looking from the doorway, to come out with a straight jacket. 😀

Well you definitely have the right mindset and experience. I hope your Gravity, and mine, exceeds your Model X in longevity.
 
This example is pretty much why I couldn’t get a Gravity for my wife, as much as I like it. She would make my life miserable as soon as something like this happened - and that’s gonna be the problem for Lucid when they go more mass market and away from tech early adopters.

The Gravity is virtually a perfect vehicle. On paper. It is also rather expensive. Granted, for what it is, the price is actually reasonable but at this price point you should expect basic things to work. Justifying the expense to yourself is one thing, but then justifying it to your spouse and something like this happens? It just hurts. I'd be okay with some growing pains, but most other people who don't care about cars would not.

I'm assuming with software updates that they can sort this out, so I'm still holding out on that. However, with things later being introduced like PaaK, Apple Carplay and self driving features, I feel like it will likely get a lot worse before it gets better.

True and I agree. However the most basic functionality of a vehicle is to be able to get in it and drive!!! I NEED to be able to do that when I want and not wait for the system to go through whatever Psycho analysis it is processing internally for what seems like hours while waiting.

Ha. Was going to say the same. Perfect except for the fact that you at times can’t get in the vehicle or start/drive it. Absent that, perfect. Honestly, it should be perfect but the key issues are really the major item holding me back. Just can’t afford to be missing appointments for work.
