Weighted Steering Wheel for (Mostly) Self Driving?

This was an awesome find! Kudos for your stick-to-it-iveness.

Also, Penalties: Violations of SB-1313 are considered infractions, which typically result in fines. The exact amount of the fine can vary depending on the severity of the violation and local regulations.

How many Lucid owners do not have a front license plate on our cars? For Californians, Vehicle Code § 5200, $197 ticket if you get cited. That hasn't made me want to put one on yet.

I use https://licenseplatewrap.com/. It gets as much attention as the car does.

I’d never put one on. I absolutely refuse to disrupt the amazing lines of my Lucid. I can’t believe some people had holes drilled… shame…

Honestly it’s a cool idea; but I wouldn’t use it just for my personal sensibilities. I also have never been pulled over for it in a luxury car. But me and a previous secretary of mine got pulled over in her Honda for no front tag; which makes me think it’s arbitrary and centered around unjust enforcement.

Relative to my Volvo, lucid alert system is not sensitive enough. Even with it's driver camera monitoring on straightaways it doesn't realize my hands are in the wheel and I'm paying attention. I've read they are trying to improve their monitoring- so hopefully I get to experience it soon.
On a separate note, the water bottle trick works well on Volvo, so I hear.

I think it also comes down to how the cop is feeling on the day. Maybe you were speeding, talking on your phone etc. but can’t prove it so the thing they can get you on you get fined for.

Totally agree. The one ticket I've gotten that really was just because the cop was in a bad mood was for not having the current registration tag on the back license plate. The fact that the car was registered, that I had the current tag in the car, and volunteered to get out and put it on to solve the problem was not enough. He just wanted to write me a ticket. It took all the patience I had to be polite and not say anything I'd regret.

I get 'old white guy's dispensation. I've been told: 'That Stop sign is hard to see' 'electric cars are too quiet, you should check the speedometer occasionally.' etc. I like not getting a ticket, but the privilege based on my birth annoys me. 75% of the people I see pulled over are men of color. That makes me unhappy.

I can't believe that anyone could be pissed at you!

I completely agree. It’s helpful for all the wrong reasons. Benefiting from privilege while others face disproportionate scrutiny isn’t something to celebrate—it’s just a reminder of the selective unfairness.

Re the original question, intentionally defeating a safety system is a stupid f*****g idea, please don't do that and risk your or others' lives, as they did not participate in your decision to defeat the safety system.

I guess the safety system try’s to kill me more than it saves me, I keep it on but @Denali_Dane turns all the safety settings off because they are too annoying and try and kill him too often.

This seems like a YMMV thing, versus stupidity.

Do stupid things in this car and you will win stupid prizes…. But if your just not wanting to deal with a sheer irresponsible amount of alerts (to the point of cry wolf) then defeating it might be a safer approach.

I’m not sure of the air disaster that prompted this, but Airbus has a alert silencer based on repetition, they realized because of a air disaster that the humans can only respond and take seriously a certain number of alerts. That’s just my two cents but I’m sure others can explain better than I.

I guess all I was saying is don't put weighed stuff on your steering wheel to stimulate holding it. Turn it off if wanted, sure, no problem!
