- Lucid Grand Touring
I recently purchased the Lucid branded NACS to CCS1 adapter and attempted to charge my 2025 Lucid Air Grand Touring at a local Tesla SuperCharger. The Lucid website claims the charging session can be authenticated and paid for using the Lucid app. This did not work for me. I have previously used the Lucid app at Electrified America without a problem. I called Lucid customer support and was told that my account should work with Tesla Superchargers. Nada. I created a Tesla account at Tesla.com, downloaded the Tesla app to my iPhone and successfully charged my car. As has been mentioned elsewhere, the charging rate is limited to 42 kWh. This is because most Tesla Supercharges are limited to 400 Volts but the Air requires 900 Volts. So, the Air uses a DC-to-DC converter that is limited to 42 kWh. I knew this before buying the adapter. This is a backup for when other CCS1 chargers are not available. Last time I tried to charge at Electrify America, all the chargers were either not working or in use. But, at the other end of the parking lot there was a bunch of Tesla Superchargers, only halve of which were in use.
BTW, the adapter fits nicely in the small cubby on the right side of the trunk under the triangle-shaped cover.
