Unable To Place Order For Gravity (2027 Model Coming?)

IMO the average consumer has no idea what they want. Having this many options confuses people, then they end up frustrated when they realize they should've gotten additional options once their cars have been delivered. They've significantly reduced options on the Air, don't see why they wouldn't on the Gravity.
I like having lots of options. When I got mine, nothing was optional. You picked the color, and the wheels. That was it. Looking back, if I didn’t have to pay for massaging seats that I never use or Dream Drive Pro that I never use, I’d have been glad to save the money. I also would rather not have a glass canopy, but that was not an option at the time. For me, options are a good thing.

It's my theory that Lucid has too many option choices for Gravity. There are many units in inventory that match my existing order exactly except for one option.
That's why I always order my cars - I want EXACTLY what I want, not something someone thought most people might like...

I'm just saying that with fewer build variants, inventory would have a better chance of matching a customer order.
There would be a better chance of forcing the customer to buy what the company built, not to sell what the customer wants to order...

I personally couldn't imagine spending over $95k (speaking for the GT here) for a vehicle and not having a heated steering wheel or 360 camera and only 10 speakers as standard. Too many "must haves" are hidden behind these rather expensive packages. $4200 for the leather interior is absurd.

Some things I wouldn't take (soft closed doors, HUD) but they are tied to things I would (heated steering wheel, advanced ambient lighting). I get the people trying to defend Lucid, but this was not a decision in interest to the consumer, IMO. Feels more like they were trying to inflate the price of the vehicle for profit while still saying they start under $80k.

Would be interested to hear the experience though of those with less options ticked on the spec sheet and how that affects their overall enjoyment of the Gravity. If someone tells me I can live with the base speaker setup and the DHP is unnecessary, I will gladly save myself $5,800 there.
You have the "option" to make those choices... 😁

I think the average Lucid buyer is a car person who is intimately involved in making very specific decisions about their vehicles...

I see this argument for high end Porsches and high-price, low-volume brands like Rolls Royce. The Gravity's target demographic (again, IMO) is for larger families, whom the primary drivers are usually women. Catering more to enthusiast works for the Air, I don't think so for the Gravity.

I'm sure there is a mom out there pissed off that her massive almost $100k car does not have a 360 camera because she did not see it hidden under the DDP premium option.

100% agreed on this point. Not saying there shouldn't be options (there absolutely should be) but they need to continue to refine what is/is not an option and how the options are bucketed. This happened with the Air, and I'm sure it's only a matter of time before it happens for the Gravity. My guess is it'll change with the 2027 model (to be released in summer 2026).

If the number of options alone is enough to confuse these average consumers, then learning to use those options and features is guaranteed to confuse them even more.

Frustration from realizing they made the wrong option choices?
Dumbing down the configurator isn't the answer.
Asking questions always help when you don't understand something.

I really enjoyed configuring different builds of a Gravity while making my buying decision.
Informed decision making.

Not understanding a feature or option can be an opportunity to learn.
Some just don't want to take the time to do so.
I get it; everybody is too busy, but don't deprive those wiling to put in that time, the opportunity to learn and customize their car.

Too busy or don't understand the details, then tell a sales person what you want and let them pick it for you.

Pet peeve: People don't understand something, but don't want to ask questions. There are no dumb questions. Get over yourself and your ego.

OK, so some people love options and some people think many of the options should be standard!

I’m curious about the OP’s actual question/experience: was the lack of an option ;) to actually submit an order (rather than just save a configuration) a temporary glitch in the system, or is Lucid—presumably temporarily—suspending the ability to custom design a Gravity?

Any other reports from configurator nerds or folks currently trying to submit an order?

Nice way of saying "enough already, get back on topic". 😀

Looks like you can either save a build or search inventory.
No option to continue and place an order unless selecting a model from inventory.

BTW, I miss the configurator.
It's a fun exercise in creation.
Those configurator nerds you mention, can attest.

I know, I know ... back on topic.
Just sayin'

I think you are right in that this works for lower volume higher margin established companies where the extra cost to maintain the manufacturing and supply inefficiencies can be somewhat hidden in the cost. My recollection for Tesla was that they started out this way when they offered only the model s and soon realized this was killing them and made a series of reductions in options available. Their options today are really quite tiny.

I for one was STOKED there were very specific options to choose from and toyed around with the configurator for more than two months hemmin' n hawin' over adding or subtracting this or that whilst I read up on things, learned more, and decided on what I eventually thought was a well researched choice when I finally placed my order.

I was thrilled when they de-coupled power outlets (a must for me) from the questionable HUD module (not into the silly windshield cartoons or cutesie lighting strips anyway).
I even changed my interior option to leather well after placing my order to get away from the Purluxe after learning more than a few ppl reported the fabric as lacking durability.

Oh, and as far as the assertion that this is mainly a soccer mom family hauler car, I must respectfully disagree. I shall be driving this beast around with all the back seats folded the overwhelming majority of the time with all kinds of stuff in the back because the main boxes Gravity checks for me are the awesome cargo space (way more than my Outback!) in a hella fun to drive car that'll easily keep up with my wife's Taycan and with enough range & ruggedness so it can get us safely up to the snow w/o tons of charging stops.
I couldn't care less about heated rear seats and foo-foo soft close doors!

For me the amount of options was in that "Goldilocks" zone of "just right" so I can feel I'm getting exactly what I want when spending 6figgys on a car!

Maybe they have production stopped for some reason ?
Yeah topic got sidetracked. That was my initial question if someone knew why they stopped production or allowing orders entirely. Based on my talks with my local SC. they are flying off the lots, and based on the lack of inventory available, I doubt its an inventory issue. My initial hunch was the 2027 model year was coming (Rivian stopped letting people configure back in 2024 before they did their refresh), so that was my speculation. Could be nothing as well, but still found it odd.

I basically live on the configurator. Was playing with it this morning and only the saw option to "Save Design" instead of place order. Are 2027 Gravity incoming?
Thanks for posting. I ran into the same thing this week, and came here to see what was up. I continue to love this site/resource!
