I've got a different issue on my new GT (Dream Drive Premium) with the Tow Package related to Rear Attachment Optimization and Hitch Optimization. I don't tow a trailer, but do have a hitch mount bike rack with lights. The car does not know that the hitch receiver is installed and the bike rack is attached until the lights are plugged into the receiver on the car. Once the lights are plugged in, the car goes into Tow Mode. Tow Mode doesn't appear as a drive mode next to Smooth, etc., but the word "Tow" appears next to the PRND gear selection on the driver screen. The car assumes that I am towing a trailer and adjusts the Dynamic Range to reflect the reduction in range that one would anticipate from towing a camping trailer. Both the car and Owners manual say to switch out of Tow Mode if you aren't towing a trailer. Of course, all of the Dream Drive rear safety functions are disabled in Tow Mode. The Manual says to choose a normal drive mode if you aren't towing a trailer, then activate Rear Attachment Optimization Mode in the Dream Drive settings or Hitch Optimization Mode if you have installed the hitch receiver but not a rear attachment. The problem is that my Dream Drive settings doesn't have a toggle to turn on and off Rear Attachment Optimization Mode or Hitch Optimization Mode. When I shift to Smooth Mode, the center screen pops up a page that warns about towing a trailer without tow mode activated and gives a cancel/proceed option. When I proceed with deactivating Tow Mode, another screen pops up asking whether the hitch receiver is still attached, presumably to activate Hitch Optimization Mode, but Hitch Optimization Mode still doesn't appear in Dream Drive settings or anywhere else in the UI. Regardless of whether I tell the car that the hitch is attached or not, and regardless of whether the hitch and lights have been physically detached from the car, the Dream Drive settings say that all of the rear Dream Drive safety functions are disabled due to "Rear Attachment", even though nothing is attached and I told the car that when prompted. The Owners Manual says to manually deactivate Rear Attachment Optimization Mode and Hitch Optimization Mode in Dream Drive settings when the attachment and hitch are removed, but I can't, because they don't show up in my Dream Drive settings, so I have no way to reactivate the rear Dream Drive safety features after removing the bike rack and hitch.
The way that the Owners Manual addresses Rear Attachment Optimization and Hitch Optimization modes is confusing. On the one hand, the manual says that both modes are designed to allow the Dream Drive rear safety functions to take into consideration the distance that the hitch or attachments protrude from the back of the car for purposes of driver warnings and automated braking. On the other hand, it says that some Dream Drive functions may be deactivated when in Rear Attachment Mode. Either way, the Manual says to deactivate Rear Attachment Optimization Mode in Dream Drive settings when removing an attachment, which would presumably restore the rear safety functions that have been disabled, except I can't deactivate Rear Attachment or Hitch Optimization, because They aren't anywhere in the UI. I contacted service and the car has been at King of Prussia in service for almost a week. I assumed that my problem was that for some reason, Rear Attachment Optimization and Hitch Optimization just weren't installed on my car and that service could simply install them via update and give me back my car. Unfortunately, service has been telling me for the past several days that my issue is "being reviewed by the engineers." That has caused me to wonder whether this is just a problem involving software being inadvertently left off of my car or whether they are just now having to write the software related to Rear Attachment Optimization and Hitch Optimization to make them part of Dream Drive and make them work as described in the manual. Does anyone else have Rear Attachment Optimization and Hitch Optimization in their Dream Drive settings? Do those modes deactivate all of the rear safety functions when you turn them on? Thankfully, I took delivery of my car after the Key Fob and Console issues were fixed and have had very few software bugs to deal with. Just the key fob battery dying and an occasional rear steering unavailable alert, which service says Lucid is aware of and addressing in a future update. However, this Rear Attachment and Hitch Optimization thing are a problem and seem to have the engineers puzzled. Anyone else experienced these issues?
